Mary, I am truly sorry to hear the news of your dear Mother's passing. She had a long life, my parent's were born in 1925, as well, and like your Mother, they lived through the great depression and WWII. We lost our Mother in 2008, Dad is still with us. I, like you, learned a great deal from my Mother about keeping a household and baking/cooking. We are all benefitting from your Mother sharing these skills with you, I'm sure she is very proud of all that you have accomplished. Remember that a Mother's love is everlasting, it doesn't end with their passing.

Love my book! The pages are not only beautiful but it is made well. Thought I’d share how to break in a book spine so folks can ensure their books last and can be passed down. Trying to keep the spine flat on a sturdy surface, open the cover and gently press open. Ado you feel the spine give apply more pressure by running the heal if your hand up and down where the cover meets the book pages. Repeat this for the back cover. Do NOT bend the covers back behind the spine as this could break the binding and ruin the book. Starting from one end of the book turn 7-10 pages in, keeping the spine flat to a sturdy surface, rub up and down the inside spine a few times. Go to the opposite end of the book repeat the process. Return to the end where you started the process, select another 7-10 pages and press them open along the inside spine. Remember to try to keep the spine flat on a sturdy surface. Repeat the process going from one end to the other of the book until you get to the center. This is a great way to break in a well bound book to make it flexible while preserving the strength of the spine. Hope this helps.

Mary, as soon as you mentioned you were producing a cookbook, I ordered one from one of your authorized sellers. I then waited for a few months to receive it. I have a Family consumer science license but right now am teaching German and French in High school. I taught one year of home economics and had it all planned out with wonderful foods. Then I told my principal about my wonderful foods and he said: oh no, we can't do that.. these kids don't even know how to boil water. So instead of teaching them all about wonderful cooking, I had to teach them how to make muffins brownies spaghetti scrambled eggs..... what a bummer.. they need to learn how to preserve foods and yes the basics too, but the school curriculum was soooo limiting and booooringgggg!

I clicked on this video because I did want to hear your commentary to see if there was some nugget of info to help me along with the book (which for me this video didn't add anything). The book is really well-made, with everything you really need which is amazing! I do like that you are proud of your great accomplishment, but I want to note that your KZbin communication posts and your videos are becoming a little too full of your Cookbook and signing gigs at Barnes and Noble. Sorry for your loss. We still have our mother but lost our father to radiation poisoning in February 1996. He was 40, Mom was 50, my brother was 18, I was 16, and my sister was 14 (it happened six days before her 15th birthday). Your book is as thorough as your videos. Spiral bound is easier to keep on the page you want. Bookmarks and paperweights help with paperback and hardcover. I keep most recipes I acquire in page protectors in a binder.

I also remember making butter in elementary school. We only got enough bread for the little bit of butter that we ended up with ( maybe a half of a slice ?). Hey Mary! I’ve made your cornbread recipe many times and it’s a HUGE hit! But my cornmeal seems to keep separating from the spelt flour as if the cornmeal is too heavy. I was wondering if you could give me any advice! 🫶🏼🩷
