My sister had a car in high school that was purely from hell. 1980s Honda accord, and she had been gifted it by our brother. The car had been taken to Baltimore, was stolen, and then stripped of its parts. So they got it fixed, and when they picked it up and stopped to pick up dry cleaning it was stolen again and stripped of its parts again (I swear to God this is true and I have receipts). This is about the time that they decided to give my sister the car. Problem is when they gave my sister the car with new parts again, the wiring in the steering wheel got a little messed up somewhere and so it would randomly start honking intermittently for about 15 to 20 minutes at a time. We called it "The Honking Wonder".

Growing up my big sister often pulled rank, forcing me, present-day unproblematic 27yo cis het boy of color to watch the likes of My Super Sweet 16, Bridezillas, and America's Next Top Model, and methinks this to be in large part why I don't necessarily struggle relating or empathizing with women like at all, even if discourse ensues, unlike the multitudes of modern men seemingly finding it increasingly difficult to do so.

But like I said, even in that discourse, you won't ever find me _"All women_ -ing" a single thing because context is King and I'm not, ya know, delusional lol I do still have faith I'll find someone with the capacity to appreciate that in me and have only empathy for anyone who has survived so much travesty that they've calloused their souls in self-defense enough to be damn near incapable of trusting even the most sincerest of efforts to facilitate integrity, reassurance, and safety, but I also honestly have a sort of "righteous anger" toward the culprits responsible for forming this cycle of abuse. These are issues I feel need to be discussed more between men and women especially but these entitled loudly insecure boyish excuses for men just keep victimizing themselves instead aaaand I hate sharing XY chromosomes with those losers. Not that you asked😅

@@dillona1001 no I understand! I’ve been one of those females wary of all men after my own personal trauma but I went to therapy and befriended lots of guys like you, so at least for me personally, I found those kind of friendships very healing. Men and women shouldn’t feel pressured from society to act any sort of way and I try on my end to understand the societal pressures men face too because we’re all human and I don’t want to see the world through my own victimhood.
@dillona10013 күн бұрын
@@JENNIFAFAA I don't know you and I hope it's okay for me say this, but I need you to know that I'm extremely proud of you🥹 Thank you so much for sharing that, you've blessed me with an invaluable testimony that healing and reciprocal empathy _is_ indeed possible even with me. Not many have the capacity to truly hold opposing or complex perspectives like mine in a vacuum sans ego and open themselves to relate on a human level as you just did with me, and I really appreciate you for that. I always carry guilt that maybe if I was somehow even more safe or something that I could've stopped the trauma loop, but you simultaneously reminded me it's up to them to conduct their own healing process as well as the fact that I make a positive impact just by striving to be an example of a good man to the many homegirl friends I grew up with. From here on out, I pray you have the most healthiest, wholesomest, and happiest of relationships that provide light to continually diminish any dark shadows cast upon you by losers. Finding empathy through pain is such a feat and I hope you're proud of yourself too!

I was born in 1968. And my parents gave me and my twin brother a 1975 Chevy Nova to share. In baby shit tannish brown. The vinyl seats had peeling cracks where the thin stuffing was poking out. Our siblings were the ones who made the car look a little better. They bought seat covers and a steering wheel cover. That hid the fact the paint had been peeled off. And our cousin took it to the technical school to his shop class so he had a car to paint. And they did it for us for free. And we loved it. And the next year my Uncle gave me his ex wife’s old La Saber. So we each had a car.

And I pointed out that I had never called her stranded because I ran out of gas. I may have asked her literally for a $5 so we could get to school or work. I had forgotten about that til I read about your broken speedometer (which as a Mom myself freaks me out how dangerous that is)
