not to ruin the fun but the difficulty doesn't actually effect how cases work, just how much damage you take. It does still make gathering information more difficult since you can't just fight anyone who stands in your way anymore

It's kind of a shame you can't get more difficult cases, I'm at the point with the game where I have started to recognize patterns with the generation, like when 'stick a pin in it' is written on the wall, it's always a workplace killer.

Now I want to see Dan tackle an extreme difficulty document theft. Had one case that gave me only the target's age and their spouse's occupation. Had to put every entry in the phonebook into the government database and check their date of birth. Took several hours and only once I'd finally finished did I realise that I'd got the year wrong.
