I lived by a creek in the neighborhood and it was magic for me. Watching tadpoles grow into frogs and fish hatch from eggs was the best!! Just being outside, we took in all the simple sights and sounds of nature. It was the best kind of play ground. We didn’t have much but we had each other and Mother Nature.

As a teacher for 34 years, I can tell you that MANY of our students did not have access to adequate/any feminine hygiene products on a regular basis. Us teachers would consistently provide them at our own expense. It used to break my heart.

As the husband of a Kindergarten educator, who has been teaching since 1984, I can attest to the magnificent, giving & tireless way in which educators give of themselves and they do it all to benefit their kids. Educators don’t do their work for a paycheck, but rather, they undertake their vocation for the beautiful, spontaneous burst of joy experienced when an adult walks up to them at, say, the market and immediately and joyfully begins reminiscing about their time in Kindergarten (or any other grade) 10-20-30-something years ago. Much respect to all the amazing professionals who educate our children.

I was the student who had a locker stacked full of a variety of menstruation products and painkillers on hand to offer to any girl who needed them. The amount of girls in 2002/04 who found it disgusting alarmed me. I hope that’s changed.

Yaaaassss!!! There are so many health benefits being in nature. I believe everyone at least once in their life should drive to the top of a mountain on a cool, windy, fall day and just listen. It is a moment in life you will hold onto forever. Anytime myself or my babies were grouchy we would go for a nature walk or cook out in the mountains. There is just a calmness that nature brings.

Mayim and Jonathan, I am really loving your podcast. I recently discovered it because you are studying and listening to the same teachers as me. Mayim I so relate to you and the way your brain processes things. I resemble what you call 'stubbornness'. My mom's nickname for me was 'cementhead'. Jonathan, I appreciate how you are able to pull threads and synthesize key learnings. Most of all, I love to watch you two interact. Your connection, humor, gentle loving nudges are beautiful to watch and give me hope that my person is out there. I don't need to settle. I do, however, have to make the effort to get out and risk to find him. Feeling the feelings today and realizing how fast time is zooming by. Wishing you an abundant 2023! Thank you for what you do. It matters and makes a difference. Gratefully, Laura

I love that you emphasize that it is our successes and mistakes that give our lives direction. Too often we focus on what we perceived to “work” (our successes) and forget that we learn best when the experiment goes awry. Ex: My first marriage was not great but I do not call it a mistake. I call it a lesson that helped me just celebrate 36 years of marriage. Thank you for this. May we all have a joyful and learning new year with many smiles, lots of hugs, the eyesight to see the good in those Oops and Drat It All! events we all experience and the patience with life we all need. I hope everyone is as compassionate with themselves as they are with others. To love, life, learning, and laughter in 2023! ❤😂😊

Canadian here: I was really excited about the PARX when it was announced. I have some friends with high anxiety and depression who really find benefits with getting in nature often for hiking, biking, etc. They don't live in the same province as me where it's available, but they make use of smaller public trails in their area on a nearly daily basis. Where I live in Ontario, we have access to an incredible amount of parks and hiking trails. I spend my weekends in them as often as I can. I have definitely noticed a huge difference when I haven't been able to get there. I get so stressed out and cranky. But the minute I am inside the trail, surrounded by trees, birds, etc, I feel so much better.

KUDOS for Scotland! And here we’re, other evolved citizens of another EU members states, with supposed progressive governs, waiting if they rule or not about lowering the VAT of menstrual hygiene products from a 21% to a 4%! Such a missery and never focusing things as they must do to avoid “menstrual poverty” for some women and getting real equality and dignity for all of us. As a post-menopausic woman I once did a calculation of how much money I could had spared during my life in those products, and I can assure you that if invested in my Retirement Plan, it would have been a much better one. You would hallucinate with the number. Even if you don’t actualize money value from year to year, do it: 12 times/year by 40 years….and try not to get mad. See you next year, Breakers! 🫶🏽

I’ve always been a night owl but now my sleep schedule is completely upside down. It’s really messing me up.. physically, hormonally, etc. my stress level is so high that I have to exercise at night to the point of I’m so exhausted that I can’t be stressed. And then I eat and then the light comes up and I struggle to fall asleep. I wish I knew what to do. I know the answers to get rid of my boyfriend that would be a huge relief but that is not an option as I need him as a roommate to help pay this rent that has tripled. I know that one I’m going through the shifts I do way better alone then trapped in an apartment in a toxic relationship. I think that has a lot to do with my sleep issues. I wish I knew what to do. It’s going to be really hard to break the cycle and get my sleep flipped back around.

From now on I want you as “my” News anchorwoman! In this format if possible & in a quarterly basis! The news you choose & comment, the nuances in them you find & share are not only delightful but much needed (today’s ones gave me mostly Hope in Mankind and an amazing feeling of fullness & wellbeing) So only saying THANK YOU, that 2023 be generous & see you in two weeks, MBB team & fellow Breakers! A note: Mayim says she’s partying with Jonathan by Zoom. I say what’s a party nowadays without Zoom? As my adored Bob Dylan sings “Times they are a-changing”..& that brought me a devilish 😈idea: how about a MBB episode with fellow Breakers by a multiple Zoom somehow? Would you dare to? 💜🫶🏽

Great episode! I appreciated you mentioning cloth diapering. I just had a baby and we've been doing a hybrid approach. Cloth diapers during the day and a bamboo disposable at night. I just couldn't stomach all the waste of "normal" diapers. It's not as intimidating as it sounds though there are lots of options of prefolds, all in ones etc. What I wanted to share is that I'm also doing elimination communication and that has made cloth diapering even easier. For anyone who hasn't ever heard of it, elimination communication is when you learn your babies cues and then rather than them using their diaper as a toilet you hold them over the sink or toilet and cue them. We started when my daughter was 3 weeks old and two months later she regularly "uses" the toilet now for most of her poops and a lot of her pee's. It feels so much more sanitary and we're being very easy going about it but from what friends have shared often EC'd babies are mostly out of diapers by walking. So, less waste for the planet! Yay! It feels like a win win win, and I'm so happy I learned about it and can't remember where I first heard about it but I would love you to share that with your viewers on another episode like this. If anyones interested in learning more I recommend Ingrid Bauer's Diaper Free Guide to Natural Infant Hygiene. There's also Andrea's Go Diaper Free book and resources and of course reddit's and blogs online. It's very easy to get started and just try it out with your baby. I have to say that a friend said to me when I was pregnant and telling them I was going to try this that it would be "so inconvenient" and tbh at first it took a little more observation and effort to try and learn her cues and bring her quickly to the bathroom but it's super easy now and I feel like I have a closer relationship and respect for my daughters needs doing this and actually will spend less time helping her potty in the long term because I'm not training her to ignore her own body. I could go on about it and honestly I know this and lots of other things I've done in pregnancy and becoming a mom aren't for everyone... truly, after going through 53 hours of a home birth I can say without any judgement that it's really not for everyone... but I just wish there was a space where I (and others) could learn about more things like this. I appreciate everything you guys do in the mental health space! I've really gotten so much from episodes lately as a new mom and artist and hearing your conversations with other in similar scenarios. Thank you for all you do -- both Mayim and Jonathan and the team BTS too!

I am all about nature in all its forms. I live in the suburbs and have a backyard. I look at clouds while driving. Open windows and doors at home for fresh air. I belong to my local Garden so I can walk through their acres anytime. I have been lucky enough to spend a good chunk of time at the beach and mountains . I feed and water the backyard birds regularly. I plant milkweed for butterflies. I make sugar water for hummingbirds on my porch daily. It does feel spiritual to me.

Speaking of privilege: The prescription aspect of the Canadian doctors’ advice is an important thing to acknowledge: they’re trying to get the yearly pass’s cost *covered by national health insurance.* This is vital for the many people who cannot afford the price of a pass. In order to further equalize access, officials must take note of the costs of travel to and from the parks, especially for people who live in urban settings that have limited resources and have a greater need for trips to parks. A pass is useless to those who can’t afford to own/maintain a car, train fare, lodging, meals, etc.

I'm so done with walking, sitting, laying, and anything outside of sleep, so, living and participating in life=insurmountable pain, maybe God wants me to sleep through it idk, just know I can't exist anymore it's much too painful so anything I need to do gets done then go back to sleep will be my new norm I guess, since no one will help me. 😭

I 100% feel the being further removed from the world when we change these things but I shifted my perception of that to feeling closer to the world I want to see which is corny af but hey its what I need sometimes 🤷🏼‍♀️

It is true there are many privileged people that have property on lakes in Canada, but most of us no matter what our economic situation are not far from a lake in our lifetime. There are 250,000 lakes in Ontario Canada and 100,000 km. of rivers ( where I'm from). There are approximately 879,800 Lakes in Canada! I've never in my life, ever lived more than a km. from some form of water source. Always lived in a small town! We are very blessed! Even most homeless & lower income people in Toronto live within 2km. from Lake Ontario with free access to beaches & trails!

Mayim, I have 2 more stories about the animals escaping the war. 1. A cat and a parrot were transported in one tiny pet carrier when the family was fleeing Ukraine. Firstly, the cat didn't eat the bird. Secondly, they spent around 50 hours on the road and didn't give their owners a single "word". The cat and the parrot had never "hung around" together before the event. Just imagine how incredibly understanding animals are! They feel and know. They listen and respond. They can behave! 2. A 23 year old girl ALONE crossed 3 borders with 4 dogs and 2 cats. The customs officers were walking her dogs while she was filing documents. She spent 12 hours on the border to Kazakstan and in the end, she got a ride to the city in the car of the officer. (BTW, the road was dangerously bumpy). She successfully made it. I had the same car ride a week later, so the officer shared her story. Now we live in the same city, so I know her personally. Her stories about rescuing animals in the warzone are even more insane. Thank you so much for an incredible episode! I enjoyed the part when you say "it boggles my mind that we exist, that thing exists"!

I really enjoy you guys and your approach using education, science and humor. Guest suggestion. Matthew Perry. His book is life changing for addicts and anyone struggling with not being enough. Or just life. Talk about breakdown, his was well… read the book and see if you can break him down.

Hi Mayim You and Jonothan spent some time talking about the impact that Dr Gabor Mate had on your sleep and the routine that needs to go with that. I watched the whole interview that you had with Dr Gabor and only babies and sleep were really addressed. Please tell me where I can go to find out more about his advice and techniques addressing adult sleep. Thank you very, very much!

Hi my name is Christine and this probably has nothing to do with what u are talking about. I just didn't know where to post about your show. That was the most beautiful send off that I ever seen. What you did for Phil...Leslie Jordan was beautiful. I definitely think he approves of it. You and your whole cast is amazing. You are all right it won't be the same without him, but I know you guys will never forget him and he knows it too. Best wishes and be safe

Happy New Year Mayim! Thank you for all you do. I found your podcast in 2022 and thoroughly enjoy it. I also watch celebrity jeopardy and you are fantastic!! You are smart and wonderful and hope to meet you in person one day. I have 2 people that would be great to interview on your podcast if you are interested. My father in law Rabbi Feinstein and my stepdad Dr. Hamrell. Please message me and I would be happy to set that up. ❤

I'm just responding to the lead in. A hard lesson I've learned is that perfection is highly overrated. I question if it exists because if we reach it, what's left? If you're a healthy human there will always be something next. New goals to keep life worth living.
