Lol! My great-grandmother had her last baby at 49. I had my twins at 44 (my oldest was 21 at the time). I have more women in my family have kids in their 40s but wasn't aware of it before my twins. I was going 4-6 months between periods, my husband had a vasectomy, found out I was 2 months pregnant when I was in hospital for appendicitis. Had emergency surgery to take out my appendix. We're British, so hearing the world record is British, you made me laugh. Babies at 44 has been really hard! Babies in her 50s sounds harsh.

A friend of mine was also on some sort of hormone replacement therapy but in her early 30s. She thought she couldnt get pregnant anyways and attributed all her symptoms like weight gain and nausea to the hormones so she didnt find out she was pregnant until the 5th or 6th month

my grandma got pregnant during the "transition years" of menopause. It was her 10th or so pregnancy but since she didn't expect it at that age, they only found out at 5 months into the pregnancy. She was nearly 50 😂

Knew a woman who was older, no kids, not expecting to have any. She thought she was starting menopause as her periods had stopped. Went to see a doctor, found out she was pregnant. Went for a scan. Met her partner at the pub that night, he looked a bit flustered, told me they thought she might be 4 months pregnant but she was 8 - so from thinking possible menopause to becoming parents in a few weeks 😮 A few weeks later they had a beautiful baby girl at home - not the plan but mum and baby were both ok

I know of a Jamaican woman who had 9 children, then went through menopause... At least she thought. She started to have abdominal swelling at age 54. Thought she had a tumor and assumed she had cancer and was dying. She finally went to the doctor, who asked her how many children she had had. Answered 9. Doctor asked her, "Then you should know what being pregnant feels like." She was twins a month later. The twins were 14 years younger than the next oldest sibling.

My parents can relate to this couple. My mom was 40 while my dad was nearly 54 when I was born. My mom went to the doctor thinking she was going through menopause but the doctor said "the only thing wrong with you honey is your pregnant!" I was even more surprising considering all my siblings are ivf babies and it took them 5 years after some miscarriages for mom to have my eldest sibling through ivf. I found out later my mom was actually a little mad because it ruined all of her plans she made at that time😂. Mom NEVER likes her plans being changed. so good on the husband for being so supportive and not caring about the plans they made to tend to his wife and new baby! You got to love every surprise baby, they come with a great story to tell!🤣

Same with me my oldest sister was married when was born my dad strutted around like a cockerel in a chicken coup in his 40s still getting my mum pregnant as my brother and sisters were older they had more time for me I once asked my mum why i was here? They both died within 6 months of each other I nursed my Dad and then my Mum and was with them when they passed my mum told me before she died that's why I was there it was left to me even though the older two took early retirement at the end of the day It was left to me did my duty and id do it again my Conscience is clear unfortunately, I've just been diagnosed with breast cancer and my sister also strange how things work out.

I remember being 23 years old and being super judgemental of women who were still trying to have children at this age and now I’m 38 and I haven’t had children yet, nor married yet - and all I could do was smile at this and ask God to forgive me for being so judgemental. Hopefully my own situation is going to change within the next year. I will never begrudge women wanting to become mothers at whatever age especially if they’ve never had children before.

I remember thinking my parents were “old parents” and they had me at 31(mom) and 36(dad). I had my first at 39 because I wasn’t married until 36 and we went through fertility hurdles. I am now 42 wondering if I want to give her a sibling… Life sometimes gives us alternate timelines and we can’t always do a lot about it.

But they have both decided to be single mothers by choice. If by 2025, I am not on the path that I think I am actually embarking on at this point in time - then I will revisit the single mother by choice scenario but I think my luck has changed and I’ll get to have a great husband first and then children

I had diagnosed a patient who is 58 years old with nearly 5 month pregnancy when i was an intern. The woman was coming to the er for months and nobody did a pregnancy test. I did because in the book it says between 7 and 77 years old there is a possibility. She cried because her daughter were trying for a baby for 13 years. And my insensitive senior suggested that she can give baby to her daughter 😮

They are called change of life babies for a reason. One guy at work got called by his wife bc she went to the ER for bad stomach pains. So he left calls back 3 hrs later screaming hes a dad. She didnt know she was pregnant and they were having issues. Had another friend think she was going through menopause only to find out she was 5 months pregnant and her oldest daughter had had her grandbaby just 4 months before. It was chaotic that year 😂

I can also say that having a niece or nephew being older then their aunt or uncle due to age difference in siblings like in this clip is very true My grandfather was the youngest of 9 and there was a 25 year age difference between his oldest sister and him. We went to the sane high school for a bit, some students thought we were cousins but I never corrected them because I was not going to explain how we are aunt and nephew 😂😂

Realistically, they would have paged an obstetrician or midwife to come deliver the baby and have a pediatrician or neonatologist to come check the baby over. It's not like the ER is completely separate from the rest of the hospital, and there's a reason other specialties are on call so they can come in an emergency for their specialty. Plus obstetricians and midwives are around the clock anyway, it's not as if babies know the time of day.

@@dietotaku but she’s had two successful births before so and I’m speaking as somebody who has a lot of experience with women shall we say an older variety as one of the first responders I can tell you from knowing people who were in there almost at 50s when they had their kids and it was number one was number four and the other one it was number nine or 10 and they weren’t expecting to have a child because they’ve been menopause and I remember asking how long have you been in menopause because it’s possible to get pregnant within the first 2 to 3 years of going into menopause… Bones had babies super quick. It depends on like I said jeans and previous births generally although my friend gave birth to her son and her sister who could’ve been her mother, she’s the youngest of 29 children not all of who made it to maturity i.e. 21 years of age. Her sister was so certain that there was plenty of time to wait for the ambulance to get there and forgot about their heritage. They are half native Americans one of the first people in Canada. Although they were not living in Canada at the time of the kid question… Yeah, these things happen

My daughter works in L&D and they're chronically short-staffed. If they're managing critical cases, the ER doc would certainly handle an uncomplicated delivery. 😊

When my mom and I first saw this episode she said "that is the reason I had a complete hysterectomy before you were a year old." And later I looked it up even when women first enter menopause there's a 20% chance they can still unintentionally get pregnant with hormone therapy

It's not uncommon. My great aunt was pregnant in her 60s. It was a still birth, but this was in the 1950s. I had both mine late 40s.

Because her water broke!! The clear fluid gush and worsening abdominal pains in her lower belly/ back call for either a pelvic exam or ultrasound. They don't necessarily need consent if it's a medical emergency.

That is my worse night. Had a pregnancy scare a little while ago. My son and his wife are on their second kid. My daughter in law was like it would be amazing to go through pregnancy together. Erm nooooo. Hard pass. 😂

Nope can totally happen without. If anything the hormone therapy increased her chances. I know two women from my church who thought they couldn’t have children as they were menopausal only to have “miracle” babies in their 50s. I’m the god parent of one 😅 After witnessing this I knew then I had plenty of time to think about having children.

I'm about to celebrate my 35th wedding anniversary this year. My husband has had a vasectomy but I've heard they can undo on their own? I am 58yo and cannot tell if I've been through menopause because my periods stopped after a uterine ablation surgery when I was 42. So this is something that I've always dreaded happening to us. We have 6 grandchildren 5-17 years old. We are done. A surprise baby at the emergency room is the ONLY way I'd have a baby at this point in my life and I'd probably cry for at least the next 24 years. May God forbid even the thought of having to raise a child in this day and age. Not gonna happen.

Women can still conceive with tubes being tied… my sister in law thought so… my nephew is now 9 llollloll 😂 btw nowadays they make you sign a sterilization consent so they actually take the tubes now…

I was hospitalized for kidney stones last month (including a 1.2 cm-size stone in my kidney-OUCH!), and I had a bit of an argument with one of the doctors who was about to insert a stent in my ureter to keep the stone from blocking my kidney again because the doctor was insisting on a pregnancy test even though I’d had my tubes tied 17 years ago. I told them flat-out that being pregnant was absolutely _impossible_ for four reasons-I’d had my tubes tied, I was definitely in menopause because my last period was over a year ago, my husband has been incarcerated for 4 1/2 years (NOYB why), and because of that I’ve been _celibate_ for 4 1/2 years! Kinda hard to get pregnant with all those factors in play! I still lost the argument and had to have blood drawn for the test anyway, but at least I got to snark on them about how they could’ve just listened to me instead of wasting my blood and the lab techs’ time!
