This is a really good book. I knew a lot of kids who when they were 8 would make fun of this behaviour. I was friends with someone with Tourettes when I was about 8 and 9. A lot of people made fun of her until she moved school about year after we met. I haven’t seen her since but I’m sure she’s fine.

My tics started around 8 and 9 and some people at my school found it funny or saw it as a game. Some people would laugh, some people would avoid mentioning it at all costs. They tried to trigger my tics or give me new ones and I had my first tic attack in no time. I’m glad people are more aware of things like that now (people might just be more aware at my school but whateveverr).

I feel like Tourettes isn't talked about enough, so thank you so much, Evie for talking about it so openly. Hearing the list of the little boy's tics made me start doing them too. :) I compare holding tics in to a conveyor belt, where, if you hold your hand in front of the items coming down the line, and they build up till you let go and everything explodes.

Hey a late Christmas present, story time with Trippy Hippie! I think this book is a great idea, helping children with tourettes learn that there's nothing 'wrong' with them & that they're just as valid as everyone else. It's great that people like you are building this community & spreading awareness. Can you imagine how hard it must have been years ago before stuff like this existed? Keep up the good work 💜💜 Edit: I'd never heard of mental tics either, I've learnt something ☺️

I have a mild form of tourettes and any time I see other people with it display their tics, I can feel all their tics in my body. I had someone ask me if I had tourettes one time, I'll never forget, they could tell because they also had it. For some reason my tourettes lies very dormant until I'm trying to learn or focus on something, then it just is like gahh, it made school so difficult.

I love your videos and I saw that lots of others in the comments have Tourettes and I thought this would be a safe place to share that I have had tics for around a year now and it has recently been diagnosed as Tourettes and I have felt different. I find having hiccups really hard and I repeat actions and loud sounds. Sometimes I hit my friends and sometimes I say It’s the chickens mrs tweedy. People question my Tourettes and say that my tics aren’t real because sometimes I have random tics but I have to explain over and over that I have main tics and random tics. I’m only 11. I didn’t tic to much whilst watching this because of your calming voice nd the relaxing music. If you read all of this thank you. Please like to stand up against tics and Tourettes.❤️

I just found you on TikTok and I've been watching some of your vids here on YT. I've read a comment thread of the one where you're reading a story and had a tic attack at the same time and apparently there was a hater in the comments. All the comments of that person are deleted now so I couldn't read them, but I read the other people's replies and your replies to him. I hope you learn to ignore those trolls and haters, please, instead of trying to argue with them, because they're ignorants and have no brain, and they won't want to understand anything you say to them. You do you girl and never forget that people love you for the way you are, I didn't start to follow you because of your condition but because of your personality. Please don't let the haters bring you down. Sorry for the long text (if you read this). Take care and surround yourself with love and positivity. And just never stop doing what makes you happy.❤️

The analogy of trying not to blink and the sting in your eye really made me feel how difficult that can be. I'm sat here watching your video with my 12 year old son, who had never heard of Tourette's before. He said there are some good sides and bad sides and feel is was very educative. We're going to carry on watching and have subbed :) Thank you for sharing your story! EDIT: By the way, your phrase *"In My Head Instead"* is either, a great name for a potential album of your music, or a book you may write in the future, or your MERCH!. Either way, GET IT REGISTERED! - as a Google search in those context, doesn't bring up much in those departments :)

the book was actually great - need to make sure my library has it. but evie you yourself are really the best possible ambassador for the condition through your self-acceptance & amazing sense of humor, the way you & also your family seem to find your infinite surprises more delightful than anything else. like you're an unintentional jokester. the wordplay that tics out is especially fascinating & funny, where it fills in the blanks with whatever completes a pattern. these are the kinds of things i often impulsively think, creating a private amusement, but your tics just shamelessly spit them out, & i think that's awesome. somehow even though I don't have tourette's, my sense of humor feels less alone & weird. does that make any sense? i really love your content, persistence, education, & attitude. I'm sure it's harder to live with than you let on, but just so you know, what you do let on is totally lovable & succeeeds in demystifying fnd/tourette's, making it easier to see the unique individual behind the tics in anyone. thank you for being!! 💚💙💜

It's been a rough patch of life for me lately, because I've been struggling with tics. These tics just came, and I'm so glad I found your channel because it's helping me out so much. If I do end up having Tourette's, I'll thank you for making me strong enough to deal with it. Looking at the way you live your life with Tourette's really gives me hope. Thank you, and I will never stop supporting you!

You’re so adorable...also so brave for making these videos to educate and help others understand better what it’s like to have Tourette’s. I wish I would have been as brave as you about my struggles as a teen. I had psoriasis and never wore shorts or went swimming for an entire summer in AZ (120 degree heat) bc I didn’t want anyone to see it. It was Hell (literally lol). I feel like KZbin and brave people such as yourself are tearing down societal walls and bringing people together. Much love and hugs from CA, USA 💜✝️

Evie, I'm glad your doing alright. And your shirt had me pretty scared for a moment. It was like 3AM when I watched this video and it took my eyes a moment go adjust and realize you had a fairly skin tone shirt on. The wrinkles and folds caused a shading effect at one point and I thought you had bruises near your neck and I got concerned. But I'm glad it was just the shirt playing tricks on a tired mind. Hope your holidays were good. And that your new year is better. Blessed be.

Hey, so I know I'm not early so you probably won't see this, but. you're amazing. You have educated me so much since I found your channel. I have been having a hard time with my recent diagnosis of Tourette Syndrome because I feel like I am faking it even though specialists and my family doctor have agreed I am not. I just wish I didn't have it. This video in particular is actually helping me understand something that happened last night: I had a huge burst of energy while playing games with family and I could not stop my legs from moving. I described this to my mom as the feeling of lightning bugs in my body zipping around. It was the strangest feeling. I've had Tics for quite a while now and I only got my diagnosis recently. So again, thank you so much for helping me through this even though you don't know you are doing it.

I’ve been developing new tics for the last probably 3 months now. I’ve always had tics (as long as I can remember) especially ones like the mental tics. Which I didn’t know existed until legit right now. I make draw out shapes in my head over and over but then I feel my body starting to move along with that shape. It could be in my arms or anything, but now I’ve been having ones like facial and vocal tics. But my mom doesn’t believe me anymore and writes it off as me being dramatic or making it up. She won’t let me go see anyone because of this so I’ve just been struggling alone. I appreciate your videos so much. Thank you for being there for me! 💜

I feel the same as Alfie when I try to hold my tics in. I always try to hold them in near my family. That’s why I am scared to spend time with them. It’s super uncomfortable. It makes me feel jittery and super anxious. 😟 I plan on telling my family about my tics soon so hopefully I don’t have to feel like this around them anymore :)

My first experience with tics was with someone I worked with. He had the same attitude as you, laughing at them and yet always feel extremely bad about them. As an able-bodied person I couldn’t understand what it’s like but I do have interruptive thoughts that disrupt my well-being. It’s not easy, but both of you live a life where your heart shines brighter than your tics. I never had a problem with his tics, he was a brilliant person who got into nursing. In fact I felt like they added to the person he was. I feel the same with you, if you were “normal” you’d be this adorable girl, but you wouldn’t be you. You wouldn’t have this spirit that shines through. I feel like your tics get worse when you put yourself down and, I can’t change the way you feel about yourself. However I can let you know that your well loved, gorgeous as all hell, and more than who you think you are.

it's wonderful you youngsters today are raising awareness about these things online. 🙏 only person with a nervous system disorder I've known was in secondary school back in the 90s. he'd only have occasional minor tic but generally seemed ok with it so none of us really knew, and probably wouldn't have known how to react anyway since there was no information, which is probably why he didn't share it. until one day, there was one of those odd silent moments in middle of class when everyone goes quiet at the same time, that's when he started making sounds, slapping the table etc, teacher told him to calm down (I don't think they knew either), that seemed to make it worse. he started running around the room with a look of panic making noises, obviously unable to control himself, then sprinted down the hall and we heard a crash. he'd ran into a drywall and put a body sized hole in it. lucky it wasn't a concrete wall at least. I think they pulled him from school for the time and I also left soon after so don't know more about it, hopefully he's doing ok.
