My husband has no problem with moderation. I’ve told him that it’s something I can not control. If it’s there I’m going to eat it. That’s why I don’t buy junk food because it will be gone in the same day. He just doesn’t understand how I can’t limit myself. I’m so glad I’m not the only one who struggles with this. I thought there was something wrong with me! So glad I found your channel.

You have a lot of wisdom for such a young woman. Just what I need now. I’m 77 years old, vegan and only weigh 110 lbs but I notice myself at the beginning of the holiday season and cold weather having a few cookies every day and reading dessert recipes. Time for an honest look at my eating habits. Thank you!

This was 100% the video I needed at this exact point in time. I’ve been a junk food vegan for 6 years with some WFPB yo-yoing, same height as you, same highest weight, same goal weight, and I’m 3 weeks in to a calorie density based diet change. This feels way more sustainable and permanent than any other time I’ve tried to eat healthier and lose weight, but I’ve been wondering about vacations, special occasions, and just general treating yourself. The thought of never eating my favorite junk foods again is scary, but my mindset is slowly shifting over to an abstinence is best view. After all, it was so effective for going vegan!

Yep, I love that she is the same height and frame I am. I was also very near 140. 137.5 to be exact. And everyone thought i looked fine. But as a petite person, who was always 104-110, my body did not feel fine and I was not happy. I am a few months in and lost weight. And very happy to be eating potatoes daily lol!!

Moderation is such an open ended word. One person thinks moderation is cookies on special occasions, one thinks it’s eating them once a week and one thinks a few cookies a day is moderation - oh wait - that’s me.🍪

@@melissaalexandria01 I feel like that's the whole point of moderation - that it's different for everyone? Depending on one's health, activity levels, lifestyle, age, gender, etc. , "moderation" will be something different but as long as it works for a particular person, it's good :) Coming from a place of disordered eating - I freaking hate restriction and excluding some foods from my diet always results in a massive relapse that ruins my health way more than a package of cookies would :*

Wow I agree with everything you said. I have been cooking without oil for years. I am ready for transitioning and diving into getting rid of junk, meat and dairy. The only thing I know is that I want it to be a lifestyle, not a diet. Because the diet weight comes back with a vengance and some extra once you are done with your diet. If it is your lifestyle you can keep doing it for years and nothing drastic will happen with your weight. It is a journey and everyone does it at it's own pace. Whatever works for us might not work for other people, but it is so great if people share what works for them so the rest of us can use it to our own benefit. Thank you for sharing your tips and tricks. You are so nice and kind.

Thank you for your vulnerability and sharing your tips for success. I have felt that everything you said Melissa is right on key. I feel that changing into a healthy “starch solution diet” is like climbing Mount Everest and takes practice and training as we would never reach the top right away. I think it’s important to recognize our fallback ways of eating and to see if we’re heading that direction. I decided to join weight watchers about four days ago and found that it truly helps me to stay on point with starch solutions as doing so keeps me under all my points with their points system. I think it’s a great program for keeping mindfulness on a day-to-day basis while were in early training mode and making that climb up the mountain

I started working with a coach a few months ago who put me onto a plan where I do it every day, and I’ve noticed a huge shift in cravings..maybe you aren’t getting in enough fats? Or eating enough? Either way, your body is probably trying to tell you it’s missing something if it’s a weakness of yours!

Try getting some PB2! It’s powdered peanut butter (sounds gross, but I swear it’s delicious!!) It’s defatted. You just add water and stir and it becomes an extremely low fat peanut butter. The texture isn’t as thick but the taste is pretty close. It’s such a good way to still enjoy peanut butter.

Totally agree. I cut oil, got shredded, then started eating oily products from time to time & gained it back. Now shredded again and maintained for several years.

This video and your channel really hits home. I've never found anything on the entire internet itself that speaks to me like your channel. I think I'm in a rut. Or maybe it's not a rut but my feelings are constantly contradicting themselves about how I feel about losing weight and feeling comfortable in my body. I lost a lot of weight back in highschool by starving myself but something ended up stopping me idk what it was, then i gained my weight back, then i lost it by seeing a personal trainer and constantly logging my calories in apps like myfitnesspal and for some reason THAT was when my friends had concerns and not when i was literally bragging about going days without eating?? But now I've gained my weight back and my old methods don't work anymore. I'm wondering, just like in your video, if I am trying to be someone I'm not. Maybe I was destined to be chubby, but I still don't like it when i see pictures of myself so i feel depressed. And then other times i remind myself that plus sizes are becoming more celebrated/ accepted and there are more clothes and ways to style myself that will look flattering on me no matter my weight. Plus there is my inability to moderate and my boyfriend that i live with does things like order take out or buys chips and wants to make nachos and i will always want in on that and can't even be the one to say no... And if I just cut it out altogether people will have more reason to think of me as depressed but i guess i am depressed and that's why I'm here. Sometimes i feel like im happier when i just don't care about this stuff and not watching what i eat... See what i mean idk what to do or what to think anymore 😔

Thank you for being open and sharing this. I can see that you're feeling overwhelmed and have many conflicting thoughts pulling you in different directions. That's normal and I would say to take some pressure off of yourself- you're doing the best you can. Live one day at a time - do your best to make good, healthy choices today and tomorrow - you can do the same again. One day at a time, baby steps... and give yourself a hug. xo

I really loved this! Teatime with Me is a great concept and I hope you decide to make it regular. Where I am finding that I'm struggling is on the weekends. At work it's easy because I don't have access to junk. How would you manage breaks in your routine?
@melissaalexandria01

Thank you ♥ Maybe I will make a video about eating when you're out of your usual routine. As a rule, I always make sure I'm full from my healthy meals - that makes it so much less likely for me to want to indulge in junk foods.

Great video! Very inspiring. I've been following you for a long time. I've been eating this way for quite some time and have lost 7 lbs so far. I find I do slip and then beat myself up.

Can't wait for the meal plan, because if I have to go by myself it's ok the first days then I lose my path, but if I have to follow an already established 7 days meal plan then I am a soldier. Having a structure and an example makes easier to stick with it and I will just swap some ingredients here and there to break the boredom and stimulate the taste of food. Thanks for these videos

I so needed this video. It happened to me too. Lost all the weight a few years back and now am in a place where I have gained it all back plus more. I was getting a little frustrated because this time it seems to be taking more time to lose it. Thanks so much for this. Love from Kenya.

Love the emphasis on “whole plant foods.” Dr. Goldhammer says the same. “Plant-based” puts you in the realm of processed food, but whole plant foods focuses on foods as close to their natural state as possible, that are readily identifiable. Great vid!

I am on day 4 of Vegan diet and coming from a long time keto diet fan!! I didn’t realize how easy it is! So far I love it and will post my results soon on my channel!!! Love this video. Thanks for being real! Do I have to give up olive oil, coconut oil and avocado oil? I don’t use them a lot but do I have to give them up?

Fantastic! And yes... giving up all oils is essential to this way of eating - all vegetable oils are close to 4000 calories per pound.

Thank you, Melissa. 💖 To avoid cooking with oils, I’m guessing you use non-stick cookware. I’ve been using stainless and coconut oil because non-stick can have unhealthy chemicals. What cookware do you use?
