I always appreciate how you talk about how you have to be willing to make compromises. As someone is EXTREMELY neat and organized, I always need that reminder that I’m not the only one in my family. Like my husbands tool collection can drive me nuts (mostly that it’s not organized like I would like haha) but then I remember this is his home too and I appreciate the skill he has in that. Thank you for the insight, Natalie!

This comment is exactly what I needed to hear! Thank you for the affirmation that showing these compromises isn’t the “easy way out” as someone else negatively commented. There’s so much value in learning to live selflessly!

@@NatalieBennett I hope you docked that comment because I, too, believe it's really good to keep in mind your spouse's right to have some things in the house the way they like it. I didn't always do well with that, and well I'm divorced now. I wasn't really planning this, so yea... There was obviously a lot more than just that, but that was an actual issue!

It’s the reverse in our family. My husband is so organized and very neat. I’m a multi tasking tornado which sometimes leaves a path of destruction. What is so great is he has helped me focus and be so much more organized. Thankful for his patience all these years but I’ve come a long way!

My husband is huge into grilling/smoking/bbq and it started over taking the kitchen with pans and accessories and special rubs. We decluttered the extra and then bought a rollaway tool storage and a couple 5 gallon buckets. All the tools and spices are in the roll away and the pellets and charcoal are in the buckets and it can all be stored on our deck. We also put a cutting board top on the roll away so he can prep or cut and serve out there too since we have limited counter space and when family is over it comes in handy.

Such a great way to cooperate with your spouse!! Thanks for the example. I've recently started tackling decluttering areas like this with my husband as well (putting things in a separate "quarantine" box to ask him about or have him go through later), and it has made such a huge difference in how we tackle problem areas around our home. We tend to address these kinds of clutter issues at different paces, so this has allowed each of us to best manage things within our "jurisdiction" (great word), and yet still be respectful of each other's differences of opinion, different paces of decluttering, and even still, cooperate with one another in the process and feel like we're making progress. 😁 It's made a world of difference!

The struggle is real! We actually added a spice cabinet on a previously blank section of wall between two doorways where it fit and didn’t look awkward. One thing that helped us with all the spice blends was buying a spice grinder and creating our own signature spice blends. It was a fun endeavor and we tweaked and tweaked them until we had them exactly as we wanted to suit our family’s tastes. After doing that, we discovered that the ones in the stores with the pretty labels weren’t nearly as tempting.

I knew you'd go to the spice cabinet again. I've watched you do it over and over again. It looks great every time. But it isn't functional. I have a very small kitchen and had a problem with my spice cabinet too. But I made it to function for me, and it's stood the test of time. I have 4 small bins with spices on them in the top of my cupboard. I have each one labeled with what's inside and just pull that one out when I need it. I never have any spices falling out or tipping over. I meant to share this a long time ago. But I would suggest putting a small bin beside your spice rack for Weston's spices if this doesn't work. Thanks again for all your inspiration. Love your channel.

I gave up trying to make spice cabinets work. I have too many spices that I use regularly to put them laying down in a drawer. I need my drawers for utensils. So... I bought a wooden step expandable spice rack and it’s on my counter to the side of my stove. It could look better if I decanted, but I don’t feel compelled to spend my time doing that. It’s useful and makes cooking easier. I also find myself using more of a variety of spices.

I always refill my spice jars when I get home from the store. That way I don't have clutter on my counters. It is a part of my putting groceries away (especially since I also decant many of my boxed or bagged items into rubbermaid/tupperware containers that fit into my motorhome cabinets.
