Sweet.....nice memories. I looked them up as far as when they began in Seattle and it was 1990....wow. I wasn't listening to them then....too busy working, dating, etc. I first heard them I think sometime in the 2000's and loved them from the moment I heard the music. They are a modern day Zepp for sure. I watch both bands now with much love.

So sad…but true. Remnants like the David Grohl’s, but he was certainly no king during grunges time. Post-grunge is the best I can do with the Foo or Bush’s out there. Eddie Vedder is the last of the king’s of the real grunge bands. I love seeing a resurgence of unplugged performances like Bon Iver, gives me hope, listen to him do Skinny Love sometime.

This song is heartbreak captured perfectly to me. Love the lyric “tattooed everything,” because in a relationship you feel you’re showing this person every part of you and hopefully receiving it. There’s permanence to that like a tattoo you’ll carry with you the rest of your life. Only 2 words repeated, but to me it says so much more

LYRICS: Hey-hey, oh Sheets of empty canvas, untouched sheets of clay Laid spread out before me, as her body once did, mmm All five horizons revolved around her soul, as the earth to the sun, yeah Now the air I tasted and breathed has taken a turn Mmh, and all I taught her was everything Mmh, how quick the sun can drop away And now my bitter hands cradle broken glass Of what was everything All the pictures had all been washed in black Tattooed everything I take a walk outside, I'm surrounded by some kids at play, ooh I can feel their laughter, oh, so why do I sear? Mmh, and twistin' thoughts that spin 'round my head I'm spinning, oh-oh-oh, I'm spinning How quick the sun can, drop away And now my bitter hands cradle broken glass Of what was everything All the pictures had all been washed in black Tattooed everything All the love gone bad, turned my world to black Tattooed all I see, all that I am All I'll be, yeah Uh-huh Uh-huh, no I know someday you'll have a beautiful life I know you'll be a star in somebody else's sky But why, why, why can't it be Oh, can't it be mine? Hm-hm, no yeah, yeah no We, we belong, we belong together, together We, we belong, we belong together, yeah

"I know someday you'll have a beautiful life - I know you'll be a star - in somebody else's sky. But why, why, why can't it be... Oh can't it be mine?" Possibly the best lyrics ever written in a love song. This is quite possibly one of the best love songs ever written in totality. At least in my humble opionion anyways. Eddie Vedder is 2 years older than me and I was 26 at the time of this performance so that means he was only 28 yrs old.
