So glad to see dearest Michael commenting once again on our UK screens (European Indoor Athletics) - love him to bits. Glad to see he has made a speedy recovery from the mini strike. God bless him and his loved ones. A true legend😘

I like how he kept running hard to get the WR even though he was far ahead of the field. Usain Bolt likes to celebrate before he hits the finish line.

@BalldinhoVanessa yes i seen that when he was talking about it at the world championship in berlin.. but think about it michael johnson was one of the best of all time. he had the record in the 100, 200, and 400.. i give the man all the props in the world... thumbs up to michael!

@MrTLide You're right about Bolt's time, but that was in a relay and he gets a running start in a relay. Just for some background, Michael Johnson ran the fastest 400 meters of all time, a 42.91 leg in the '93 400m relay, at the world championships
@ralucagymnast16 жыл бұрын
I find it incredible how he was able to maintain that amazing speed all the way. I used to run 400m 800m and 1500m at school(and was pretty nifty too)and the 400m is the hardest of them all, simply because its a sprint all the way around. The pain in my lungs was staggering at times:) This man is beyond human:)

Look at the lead he has on the rest of the field going into the last 40-50 meters. He has a full second lead on all his competitors - and his competitors are the other 7 fastest quarter milers in the world. Michael Johnson was in a league of his own.

My friend Noah ran 800m in 2:11. He is 13 years old, in 7th grade. He broke the school record of 2:18 and won our district meet for 7th graders. He also beat all the 8th grade times! This was about 1 month ago in oregon.

@ChristmasTree223 Bolt did the 200m in high school too, in fact he still holds the youth (20.13) and junior (19.93) records for it. and his coach never suggested the 100m to him, Bolt begged his coach to let him do it.

Usain bolt was originally a 400m runner. His 400m PB is 45.38 but that was 5 years ago - he hates that distance. Also Jamaica won its 1st olympic gold in the 400m in 1948 (took both gold and silver + a jamaican had the WR). Since then Jamaican born sprinters running for Jamaica, USA, UK and Canada have always been outstanding. In events like the womens 200m a Jamaican has medaled in every olympics for the last 32 yrs. So nothing is "sudden" about the "people from a little island" in sprints.

Actually, what I meant was that he had no competition in the 400 meters. The scene was the same for this final, Atlanta, Gothemburg, Sydney, Stuttgart, and so many other finals that MJ would win by huge margins. In the 200, you're right in that he did have lots of competition, but who can forget that 19.32. I think MJ said something about the lack of competition influenced his decision to retire though.
@1gadena13 жыл бұрын
I have actually run this in 40 seconds dead, my brother timed it. He said it was unbelievable, he had never seen anyone run so fast in person but I don’t know how to go into athletics, the nearest town outside my tiny little village is 5 hours away. I’m not too good at the 100 meters though I run that in about 25 seconds but my 400 is amazing.

great man ! I like this runner ! I think that bolt will never beat this record !!!
@BeFruitful714 жыл бұрын
@sayenshin after Usain bolt covers 200 meters he is a time bomb waiting to blow up, the longer he runs, the slower he goes, which is the case with most athletes, but Bolt dies at a much faster rate. Look at his 300m race and clock each 100m of it. When he ran a 30.9, his first 100 was a 9, second 100 was a 10(high) and last 100 was an 11. He just starts going backwards. I wouldn't call him a 300m athlete, but to see a 6'6 runner blow his field out the water is a sight to see. He is amazing.
@PhaantomzIV13 жыл бұрын
@tallchef9 umm actually he has ran 400m and he won by a mile he got like 45.32 or sumin on his first ever 400m which is amazing onsidering he is a sprinter.

@Triplejump96 agreed, but judging by effort put into the race and also Bolt's capabilities the distance can easily be made up with proper training, i must admit its gonna be difficult n more or less juss a dream come true, but just being a fan of Bolt i'd love to see it happen
@snukey0812 жыл бұрын
43.18, this record is a legacy n will be hard to break but i think 19 yrs old Kerani James who's his fastest time is 44.36 can break it within the next 5-10 yrs. until then this legacy lives on but i will love to see it go!!
@Ras09true14 жыл бұрын
So Mj isn't biased, i taught he was after he said Bolt would not break his wr at Beejing, although i taught be believed Bolt was too young and would not have the strength yet.But last yr he said, because Bolt has done this at a really young age, he'll have to take up another challenge to stay motivated, which has to be the 400.He says he still sees flaws in Bolt's action, which is normal for sprinters his age, as he's still learning, he's not smooth enough, that's scary.
@phastman14 жыл бұрын
@MrAnimeFreak777 Bolt's not in the high 43s, his PB is 45.28, and he ran 43.58 in a 4x400m in Jamaica but thats off a flying start.

@JUKIO01 slow compared to usain? correct me if i'm wrong, but doesn't Johnson still own the world record for this event? I know Usain broke Johnson's record in the 200 (19.32 Johnson's record) but I don't think he did in this event. If he didn't, your remarks are skewed

@Vinnyyshot3 Sorry to burst your bubble, but Bolt's 400 pb is 45.28, he just occasionally runs the 400, he doesn't trains for it. He also ran 45.35 as a 17 yo, this after running 19.93 as a 16 yo in 200. So don't hold your breath, the only thing holding him back is he's afraid of the hard training that's required of 400.MJ stated last yr that he thinks BOlt can break his 400 wr, as he might have to take up a new challenge to stay motivated, because noone is going to beat him over 100 &200
