I'm not entirely sure as I don't remember an acute injury to my plantar tendon but I had been walking barefoot on the beach the two days before I noticed it. That combined with a torn calf muscle a several months beforehand could have played a role in a compensation in my gait. I'm leaning towards micro-tear/tendonitis as a cause combined with my age/genetics since I'm in my 40s of Northern European descent. I'm not overweight and still fairly athletic or at least I was until recently, haha. I'm hopeful to get past this though with the therapies mentioned in the video. Thanks for the info.

Well, I am not sure exactly, but about a year later I was diagnosed with a rare infection called Fournier’s gangrene and diabetes. Everything I had read on the plantar fibroma and the Fournier’s gangrene both mentioned diabetes & alcoholism (which I do not drink alcohol). I was in an induced coma in ICU 6 days out of 10. In the hospital for a total of 5 weeks. When I got out of the coma, I also had a lump in the centre of each palm on my hands (Dupuytren’s Disease). I had survived both gangrene & sepsis.

Thank you Doctor. I have had this for around 20years. I went to the doctor when it first occured and he didn't know what it was and said I might have an foreign object stuck in my foot that has caused it. He cut into the lump and drained the blood but no foreign object was found, but obviously the lump was gone. He told me if it occurs again come back and see him but if it doesn't hurt then it's not a problem. I still have it but it doesn't cause me any pain. It use to at first when sometimes it would get hard. Anyway, the reason I'm writing this comment is because I accidentally came upon your video and it actually explains what I have. Thank you.

I recently developed two plantar fibromas on my left foot after dealing with plantar facsitis for two years. My Podiatrist wants me to have 12 sessions of MLS laser therapy to help heal my foot. Do you know if this treatment has been successful? Sometimes the bumps get very painful and swell...then if I reduce the time on my feet the swelling goes down and they become less painful. I've had the fibromas for three months. I am trying fo get better before spring as I hike and bike alot in warmer weather. Your videos have been very helpful. Thank you.

I was diagnosed with a plantar fibroma that keeps getting more and more painful. I’m a runner and HIIT lover, so I don't want to have this slow me down. This website and the plantar fibroma video are by far the most helpful information I've found, and it blows away the podiatrist doctor’s advice here where I live in California. I now have hope; thank you so much! I'm a Michigander by birth and at heart, so that's a bonus too. Thanks again!

I went to my PC physician for a tiny hard marble that was painful when touched - right on my plantar fascia center. He prescribed 6 pack of prednisone course and said to call if the pain doesn’t go away. Seems like overkill. Would you recommend a treatment like that or should I get another opinion?

Your video is amazing and one of the most helpful youtuber related to plantar fibroma. I have exactly like this at bottom of one my left foot and it's very painful. I am very confuse from your video 9:27 you said that we want the plantar fascia to stop stop pressing the ground by making hole, but at 8:41 you said that the sandals should have heel. Doesn't that heel will cause pressing to the ground and make that plantar fascia much pain and swelling? It's totally the opposite. I hope you can clarify this by reply this comment. Love your video btw.

I have 2 very close together on my left foot. 14 years ago I had a wreck ripped my left forearm off OOPPS & from what I remember I also messed up my left foot broke some of the bones on the top of my left foot the hospital just put a walking boot on my left foot (my foot was definitely not a big concern for them) my pinky toenail doesn’t face forward it should it actually faces to the left & under my pinky toe where it meets my foot I’ve always had a knot on the outside of my foot that not has a permanent Callus on it. I’ve had those 2 nodules on/ near my arch forever seems like. I’ve had foot pain in my left for about 11 years so I end up putting more weight on my right which has caused the right foot problems & now it seems like all my feet issues are starting to crawl up my legs. Sometimes I feel like I can’t win for losing 🤷‍♀️

I have one tumor on the arch of each foot, not painful all the time, but running, jogging, elliptical, stair machine, arc trainer...all difficult because then the pain starts. So I mainly stick to spin for my cardio. My calf muscles are so tight! One popped in Dec 2019. I'm going to try the stretches and massage and seems I need to find a podiatrist in the Myrtle Beach, SC area. Thanks for the very Informative videos. For a problem this complex and with so many variables, you really would benefit most from seeing a podiatrist in person. A problem of this nature really does require a proper history and physical. By getting non-specific advice online, it really can make your problem worse. Thank you so much for being a fan and we hope to make better and more educational videos in the future!

Something I don't get: You say to put pressure on it with massaging, and balls and cans, but then you say to keep pressure off of it with a hole in the sole. And you say to stretch it out with exercises, but you also say to wear shoes that avoid stretching it, because it causes more damage. I'm sure there's a subtle difference in these contradictions, but I'm not sure that you explained it, or if you did, that I understood it.. Is it that you put light pressure on it, and do light, gentle, stretching, as opposed to the harsher stuff that happens accidentally? I think I got a plantar fibroma last week, it came on quite suddenly, within an hour, and I think it was because of an old pair of boots I was wearing. I suspect that something either broke or shifted in the midsole of the boot. At first I just swapped to another pair of shoes and forgot about it for a few days, until I put on those old boots again without thinking, and it came back pretty much . I went back to normal shoes again and it felt a lot better, but that evening I checked the bottom of my foot and found what seems to be a plantar fibroma, exactly like at 5:11 in the video, but the size of it has already gone down a lot in the last day or two, and I don't feel any pain from it unless I put on those pesky old boots again! I think, in my case, the midsole of the boot was pressing up against the arch of my foot in a very particular way, but I don't know if it happened suddenly, or if it was gradually building over time and I just didn't notice it. I did a lot of massaging on my foot yesterday, mostly around the heel and the inside of the arch of my foot, which both seemed to have a very slight kind of "cramp" feeling that would build up every few minutes, and the size of the lump has decreased dramatically, it's more of a sharp bump now, than a lump.

The key is gently breaking up the fibers through massage while preventing the ligament from tearing and stretching (which causes the neuroma component)

@@DrTomBiernacki Yea, that makes sense. Thanks! So you wouldn't be overstretching it, harshly or suddenly, or putting too much pressure on the rolling aids, like putting all your weight on them...

Absolutely better get it checked to rule out synovial sarcoma that can lead to amputation. I have been seeing podiatrist who was saying fibroma but mri's say sarcoma. Sarcoma is serious always have lumps thoroughly checked or you may lose your leg or life.

I was able to get rid of mine with Nattokinase (took about 2 months) One of them came back over time, so I need to do it again. I hope they come up with some mRNA solution to strengthen the tendon

@@annepmitchell7718 - 1 pill which is 2000 FUs (functional units I believe is the term). I would take this 3 times per day for approximately 2 months. It is a blood thinner, so be careful on that front - don't combine with other blood thinners (not sure how strong of a blood thinner)

We know you want a more detailed response, and believe us if allowed we would love to give more specific information. Unfortunately we have to let you know how important it is to see your podiatrist in person to get a more detailed response. There are just so many variables and risks for giving information without a proper physical exam in person. Good luck and we hope you feel better soon. We really appreciate you as a fan!

We would love to be able to give you a more specific answer, but unfortunately we cannot do so. These are very complex medical problems that do require specific evaluation in both physical and imaging modalities. Please see a podiatrist near you for further evaluation. We would be doing you a disservice with general advice for such an important issue. Your podiatrist or primary care doctor can likely help much more than we can in this instance. We really do appreciate you as a fan and we hope to bring you more detailed videos that help more in the future!
