As an RMT member I would like to add a few points about the pay offer that haven't been talked about in the media - the 9% pay offer over 2 years is dependent upon RMT members accepting compulsory Sunday working at a reduced hourly rate & a reduced hourly rate for overtime pay - both of which significantly reduce the overall value from 9% to something well below it - they have also recently talked about capping the backpay that members will receive once the dispute is settled which would reduce the real time value of the pay offer even further.

@danfincham4625
@danfincham4625 2 жыл бұрын
That’s because it’s not an issue as far as a Tory government is concerned. They underfund public institutions to the point of failure and then flog it to their mates. Shareholders are what’s it’s all about. Probably doing it to the NHS as we speak.
@lupinbrabablebix9840

@@danfincham4625 oh I totally agree I was inside the Probation Service and watched them demoralise and dismantle that for lucrative , now failed , private enterprise. I think they are currently regrouping to organise another cherry pick. The health service is the same , when Reece Mogg is berating jobs such as diversity officer and quality assurance managers you have to ask yourself who insisted that these posts were created , what culture was it that asked for these ancillary roles , remember investors in people , what a crock , but it created a few jobs , that’s fine as long as it’s an ‘add on’ and not an ‘as well as’. In the probation service they kept introducing new requirements of assessment until they came up with an electronic version that took two days to complete on nffp software and hardware .these institutions are eroded from within , my concern wasn’t with the lying skeevy barstids in government it was to the press , the sub committees and the opposition but challenges are there none. I did see Mick Lynch tearing some entitled ex public schoolboy a new one in some sub committee but where did that go , where is the accountability , the government has no money of its own , it only manages our money and in schemes like this there should be a malfeasance enquiry at the very least , it’s fucking outrageous , how many millions on ppi and billions on track and trace and no one’s getting their arse kicked ? At the hand over of a large chunk of the probation service to a private company ( now failed) Failing Grayling said , the probation service has systematically failed in their supervision of short term prisoners post release , when it was pointed out to the arsehole that there is no supervision of short term prisoners post release , there were a few ahems ! And the hand over went ahead anyway, then it failed , did I mention it failed

I weep for the workers in this country. This vile government represents the elite classes. They steal whatever they can from the little man. Corruption and greed are their middle names and their only tactic when we rise up against tyranny is to divide and conquer. Stay strong train train drivers, stay strong nurses, stay strong teachers, stay strong public sector workers. You are the last bastion. If you fall we will all fall - and what is left of this country will surely go to the dogs. Thank you brothers and sisters for striking on all our behalfs.

The whole argument for Privatisation of rail was that "It is NOT the job of Government to operate rail services". This being the case, why are Ministers involved? Why are Ministers inserting conditions in the deal, from Whitehall, that were NOT demanded by Rail Operators? Rail Operators were NOT demanding driver-only trains. Ministers are - yet they claim it is "NOT the role of governments to operate rail services". PS: If Ministers had never been involved, we would have had full agreements by now. PPS: The electorate knows where accountability lies - and there is an election just around the corner!

Here at the negotiating table we have one adult, and one lying, ideologically constipated sophist. Mick Lynch is the former, Mark Harper is the latter, a failed imitation of an adult. Is it a surprise to anyone that Harper is also a Tory? Among other misrepresentations, Harper fails to note that while two smaller unions have settled, said unions nonetheless support Lynch and his efforts to secure reasonable working conditions for the members of his union. Lynch is right to say Harper is lying, and to say it plainly. Harper is willing, able, even eager to lie to display his loyalty to the Tory cult.

Harper saying that the RMT has had an offer comparable with others in the country is such a slimy way to pit the public against unions. The rest of the working class has absolutely dog shit pay and no way of negotiating for anything better. Why in gods name would Lynch settle for something comparable to that.

RMT has a point and it is clear the MP’s are lying. What’s funny is TSSA accepted a deal and at Acc failed to receive pay that was agreed. MP’s salary should go up the same as workers. That would rock the boat.

That was a poorly phrased question to Harper. Instead of asking if the government ‘put a block’ on a deal, he should have asked if the government injected new terms and conditions into the deal in order to create a block to any deal. We need much better probing questions from journalists in mainstream media. 😕

The major problem is this: the main stream media put out the governments tactics and policy most of which is connived. They believe it. So people like me come to NM for the truth. How do YOU get the small print’ (eg NM) out there? How does one get your balanced truth to those who are having their perceptions manipulated?
@SamHocking
@SamHocking 2 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure they necessarily believe it, but there is a direct amount of political access granted to the media by the government and so unfortunately a bias in both reporting (lazy reporting just relays what the government wants said verbatim) and media will lose access if they discredit or challenge what they are reporting. It's a kind of soft dictatorship it just hides behind access rather than outright government control, but similar net result to a dictatorship imo.
