I think you don't see designing like this because of a fundamental culture difference in engineering. Even in development practice, everything is rigidly controlled. Companies seem to care about reducing development waste rather than allowing more iterative design and innovation which inherently has more risk of failure. Also, I feel there is often a big disconnect between experienced consumers and design direction. Especially with valuing experienced enthusiasts opinion over the general market.
@scottwatson57673 жыл бұрын
@@ChargedTTq Very true which is why it is important for some of these engineers to intern in the actual field before being put behind the drafting table or design computer. Get the hands on aspect and see just what its gonna take to install, repair , or replace anything they design! A huge part of engineering is cost control -- optimizing for efficiency of materials and labor. What makes this plane amazing is the absurd amount of time spent on it. This plane as built would have zero commercial success because it'd be 10x the cost of the competitors, in an already small market. Doesn't make it any less awesome, just that expecting anything like this out of a typical company -- which depends on making money to exist -- would never happen.

Mike, ‘here’s some scrap piping.’ Me, ‘oh, finally a scrap part on scrappy.’ Mike, ‘that I’m using to form a custom carbon fibre piece then I’ll throw away the scrap pipe.’

😂🤠 lol I know your so right... I ran out of scrap parts a long time ago. No mater how hard I looked I couldn’t find a scrap pressure plenum anywhere that fit 😜🤠. Thanks for watching my friend

Mike I love hearing about some of the reasoning behind some of the details, like the angle of the oil door hinge, I know it's kind of a small detail but the thought process is interesting, you're probably doing a hundred little of these for every part and it seems trivial but to me it's interesting to hear stuff like that. Also I like that you got into some more of the techniques you use on the composites. I think this stuff all probably seems obvious to you but it is great for me I'm learning a ton! You make it look easy and it is so NOT easy!

The attention to detail and no compromising carbon part manufacturing processes never ceases to amaze me. So much skill involved here.

“Awesome cowling. Can’t wait for “Wingsday”. I can hear the camel from the add.....”Mike, Mike, Mike? Guess what day is it Mike?” Mike says “It’s wingsday.”

Wow! The engineering and dedication to detail is unreal. The amount of time you’ve got invested in this aircraft is mind boggling. I can’t wait to see the finished product. Forget the wings, I can’t wait that long, just run it around the airport.😳🙄😮😁🇨🇦
