So here where I live.... we would wrap the stone in the geotextile fabric.. so put the fabric in before you put the gravel in, then fill on top of the fabric then fold it over the top of the stone to create like a sausage of stone, wrapped completely with fabric. With the perforated pipe at the bottom also inside the fabric.

Hey Eric, Some contractors lay out a long wide sheet first. The add some rock. Then the perf pipe. Top with more rock . Final steps are to lap the fabrick and lay over with dirt. It's often called a burreto drain. It might be a little easier work.

Hey, those quiet parts with the wall lifting really make me feel like I'm there. No background, no distractions, just a bunch of dudes building a(nother) house. I think you are successfully catching the vibe of construction when it's with people you like. So, thank you for that. Makes me want to trade in my office/keyboard for a Builder Brothers tool belt.

@@MHolt3573 it really is amazing how entertaining this crew is in every video, with little bits and tricks to learn here and there as well. I and I'm sure many others wish they could build my house and I could stop in and hang out every now and then haha. You're right though, the content never gets old! I really wish Jaime made his own videos in his shop or would livestream projects sometimes.

A thought...when nailing headers in position, you could leave the studs adjacent (next to) the header bay loose. Essentially nail the stud to the bottom plate, kick the top of the stud out of the way nail the header completely (because the adjacent studs are not in the way of course), then nail the adjacent stud tops. Typing this took longer than the process takes . Lol. I understand you may have reasons to do it differently . Keep up the good work! Thank you for the content.

I'm going to give you a tip from an old carpenter, take metal banding strap and nail a stip about 10inches long to the bottom plate in about 3 places then nail them to the flooring then build the wall and I used to install the window and siding then stand the wall and if you install the staps right you can then kick the bottom plate to the edge and it will never let the wall go to far that way you only have to stand the wall and everything takes less time and never any scaffolding, hope this helps.
@Sarutaru06
@Sarutaru06 8 ай бұрын
Take it from someone who's designed and built prefabricated walls for a while now: build your parts (headers, wall ties, jacks, etc.) before nailing them to the plates. There's nothing difficult about nailing the side of the king stud to a header if it already has the jacks on it and you do it before a bunch of studs are in the way. As long as everything's cut to the right length, it should work out exactly the same in the end without needing a second pass. In our shop we typically have one guy loading tables with parts (plates are cut and laid out earlier), another nailing top plates and headers prior to assemble, and then one person nailing bottom plates/window sills as well as unloading the table with hoists once a wall is built. It's a little different for walls with sheathing but the assembly process for the actual framing is pretty much the same.
@petej1172
@petej1172 7 ай бұрын
Eliminate the toe nails. After spreading studs and before you move the top plate from the bottom, nail all the kings to the door and window headers. Slide a stud inside the king to butt the header. Mark at the bottom of the king, cut and nail the jacks. Pull them down and nail them off with the rest of the studs and cripples. I've worked in the Midwest, west coast and overseas. I've only ever seen precut studs at 92 5/8, 96 or 104 5/8. I'm retired and living vicariously through your videos.

I am a structural engineer from Missouri and I love your shows and dedication to doing it right the first time. I see you backfilling the foundation with the excavated soil. Depending on the amount of clay in that soil you may be putting too much pressure on the wall. Backfilling will 1-inch clean rock to within 12” of the finished grade would likely be a better choice.

For your partition blocking in your exterior walls if you 2 2x4 together and build an L you can avoid doing the insulation as you frame because it leaves the cavity open on the inside. Or for 2x4 walls use a 2x4 stud and a 2x6 for the L

95-5/8” is an odd length down south. Here in the northeast U.S., if you factored in 3/4” flooring, 3/4” strapping, and 1/2” Sheetrock, you’d net 96-1/8” finished wall height-which works out.

Hey Guys! I'm Sean. I'm a contractor from Washington. Love your channel. The BF and I will be coming to stay in one of the AirBNB's at some point next year. My question is about the Paslode nailer. I bought one to long ago to warranty it, of course. Didn't really use it till recently. I'm finding that it"s constantly misfiring or jamming up. And the depth doohickey is forever coming loose with vibration as I fire nails. I'm using the correct Paslode nail and new gas. I love everything else about thee gun, lightweight..... So the question. Have you experienced any of this with yours? Possibly I just got a lemon. Or maybe it's just something I'm doing. Thoughts ideas

is there vent holes going to be cut in the wall for the crawl space? Do you guys worry about moisture build up in NC? just curious
@moocowzrock
@moocowzrock Жыл бұрын
Nah, they usually do an encapsulated crawlspace. You do a plastic liner throughout the floors and up the concrete walls with foam board insulation, and you can run a dehumidifier under there and/or even run a small hvac supply vent down there and it will stay conditioned and not humid/moist. It will also help your interior space avoid weird smells from the dirt working up to your house and help make you air conditioning and heat a little more consistently comfortable.

When i put down drain like that around a house we used those fiber cloths(kinda similar to yours but not as dense) and put it down, then add gravel to it, put the drainage pipe in, add more gravel and then wrap it like a burrito. That way the drainage pipe had no chance to be filled with dirt and crud and was protected from all sides, not just the top. Also makes it easier if you are going to make future connections(like downspouts) to it, no dirt at all near it because of the gravel burrito.

If it slide it will slide on initial lift. Once it is almost vertical the chance of it sliding is very low because most of the load has already shifted downward increasing the friction preventing the wall from sliding.
