Except it is. Lots of polyamorous people will hide their way of loving around family, friends, colleagues because lots of them risk rejection. And people need family, friends and a job to live. Hearing Noel say that parents shouldn’t vent to their children made me feel happy. I was my parents’ therapist for the longest time. My parents used to (and still try to) talk to me about how awful the other one is. My mom liked to say that she just thought she would never be happy, which hit hard because I spent a lot of my lower school and high school life trying to find ways to make my parents feel happy. I used to look up ways to help my dad stop drinking. I used to try to find support groups for my mom. But they’d never take my advice. They’d just vent to me. I finally put my foot down and told my parents that I couldn’t deal with it anymore. My mom said, “it’s not fair that I have to deal with this alone.” I looked her dead in the eyes and said, “you don’t have to. You just have to find someone other than your already-messed-up daughter. I’m not your therapist.”

Being polyamorous is not an excuse to cheat. No relationship (not even an open relationship) will thrive when one or more of the people involved is being facetious about their desires and goals with the person(s) they're dating. I hate seeing ppl justify their shitty behavior by saying "I don't 'do' monogamy" as if that's a get-out-of-jail free card for cheating on your partner. (As someone in a poly relationship, I always mention that upfront when I meet a new partner. It's vital information - if they're looking for monogamy, I'm not going to lie and say that I'm willing to provide that for them. And I'd hope that all other sane poly ppl would act similarly. )
@_Jay_Maker_ Жыл бұрын
Polyamory is literally just an excuse to cheat on the person you're with. No amount of self-deceptive mindgames can change the fact that you're literally sharing yourself with multiple people at the same time and aren't willing to commit to the feelings, appreciation, respect and love of a singular individual. It's just as destructive as any other type of relationship abuse. There will always be jealousy in that kind of relationship. Always. _Always._ Even if the person you started your relationship with doesn't open up and be honest with you about it, they will always hurt - and if you're not the one hurting, then you're the one causing it. You'll wake up to this reality eventually, and it's going to suck when you do.

@@iamcool544 like, let me insert myself into YOUR BUSINESS and then complain about what you’re discussing with each other. I’m sorry, WHAT?!? like I know this is a child (I’m assuming), but mind your own! Damn, it’s really not that hard. Adults flirt, and they’re also just as much entitled to their privacy, if not even moreso, than children are. The fuck?

@@iv.no4 Literally what privacy if they're doing it in front of their children?

@@insertnamehere6227 Their privacy in general - anytime, anywhere. Unless we know these people personally, we don’t know their shit. But what I do know is you cannot insert yourself into someone else’s business and then complain about what they’re saying. It wasn’t for you to hear in the first place. As for the child, you shouldn’t present that you’re not listening or can’t hear if you’re clearly eavesdropping.

I love all of the comments about the one who doesn't want to work for anything but snap their fingers and get whatever they want. Reminds me of a family member and their GF who are 7-10 years younger than everyone else of the same generation in the family and they are constantly trying to compete and catch up with the rest of us and then they just complain that they're not getting the things we all have and life is unfair to them. I tell them to stop hurting their own feelings by being 21 and comparing themselves to 30 y/o's but they never listen lol.
