So from the looks of it, you will gacha for characters. The characters will likely be locked to a certain weapon type. The gacha could also include weapons? Like IDK how they think a gacha is gonna work for MH though? It's against the very soul of the game. Same with being locked to a character. MH is about making your own character and watching them progress to the end by gaining new gear from hunts. What I SUSPECT they will do is this: Pick from a starting lineup of characters, then gacha other characters Get drops from monsters that are summon tokens BUT you'll have to do a crazy amount of hunts to get enough for a summon so they will try to force you to buy summons. Gear will come from gacha summons too Upgrades will no longer progress weapon paths but instead just make your summoned weapon stronger without branching it into a new path Armor Upgrades will still work like normal where it just makes the armor stronger BUT new gacha armor will constantly power creep old armor, same with weapons. MAYBE we get to the point where you can make your own hunter in a year or two but ONLY by using pieces of armor sets you've unlocked via the gacha mechanic.

I trust Timi Studio when it comes to optimization. But I hate all their games cosmetic options. I'm a relatively new hunter. I barely got into the hunt when MH Now came out, then branched out into World, Rise and Generations Ultimate. And I don't see myself playing this much at all if the game won't even let me make my own character. I'll have hope for this game, but it smells fishy. At least if this game comes out in the near future (next half year) I won't have to wait much or I'll have a better time with Wilds judging on how good the beta was.

I'm all for this game since I'm a longtime fan of the series. However, I think it's weird to have 2 upcoming games for the same IP with releases so close to each other. They're made by different teams but still, its budget that could have been used on Wilds, even if only for marketing. Hopefully fans don't get Monster Hunter Fatigue and both titles succeed.

if you're worried about the quality dipping for the mainline game, don't be. the monster hunter team has been split up between 2 teams since monster hunter tri. the only factor of any of the new games failing is their because of the horrible stigma that mobile games have or because either one of the games have game crashing or game ruining bugs. (which is highly unlikely cuz 1. that has never happened in a monster hunter game 2. the whole reason they made the beta for wilds is to prevent any game ruining problems, including optimization)

Ok, so the hunters will be the gacha mechanic. I'm ok with that I suppose, but I hope we still get one custom character to use. Maybe they can make the custom character a handler or something? So you can't hunt with them, but you can explore. Maybe with a mechanic that the handler can switch immediately to a selected hunter?

He said we're getting "some" weapons and they've only shown those 4 so far, the Longsword, DBs, Bow, and Lance (or Gunlance?). I hope that they'll let us make our own hunters and at least let us swap between the 4. If it's a gacha, as people have been claiming, then I'm a tad worried they will have us unlocking the different premade hunters with specific armor and weapons. The latter possibility will be an instant uninstall from me. If it is gacha, seems like best case scenario would be unlocking the monsters instead, that we can then spawn into the world and fight repeatedly to craft their gear (without egregious mobile timegating 🤞).

@@Fushii0 You'd be surprised to find out that games can make plenty of money without intrusive over-monetization. If you want to support that kind of soulless greed, be my guest. Regardless, it will turn off a lot of fans of the Monster Hunter series that expect a higher degree of quality and ethics.

@@IcebreakerMHWilds I never saw either Online or this game as a true MH game anyway. But yeah you're right, they can prolly monetize in different way but gacha works very well and ngl it's Capcom AND Tencent so i'd not be surprised, thanks for detailled answer tho ^^
