Morning Yoga Practice. Short yoga sequence. Iyengar Yoga for Beginners.
A 10 minute morning yoga practice, this yoga sequence comprises mainly standing poses (asanas). This is yoga for beginners so anyone can try this yoga workout, although because of the length, the teaching is limited. We would therefore recommend, if you are new to yoga, that you look at our Beginners Yoga series and our yoga tutorials in the Yoga Pose Directory playlist. You need no equipment for this yoga sequence apart from your yoga mat.
The sequence here includes the following poses:
Urdhva Hastasana in Tadasana. (Upward arms in Mountain Pose)
Utkatasana (Chair Pose)
Uttanasana (Forward Bending)
Paschima Namaskarasana in Tadasana (Reverse Prayer Pose in Mountain Pose)
Trikonasana (Triangle Pose)
Virabhadrasna 2 (Warrior 2 Pose)
Parsvakonasana (Extended Side Angle Pose)
Adho Mukha Svanasana (Dog Head Down)
Adho Mukha Virasaana (Forward Bending Hero Pose)
Sukhasana (Simple Cross Legs/ Easy Pose)
This morning yoga practice is complimented by a 25 minute evening yoga practice which contains calming poses like Halasana, (Plough Pose or Plow Pose). You can just do one practice on any given day if you don't have time to do both.
The standing poses in this yoga sequence invigorate and strengthen the body and the mind, preparing you for the day ahead.

Yoga is not a sport but regular practice of yoga sequences can improve fitness levels. Love the videos! If I was to say one thing it would be to maybe slow down the sequence slightly? Perhaps giving more time to hold each position etc? Other than that it's so nice and great to find some Iyengar Yoga!

Thanks Sarah. We filmed these short classes in response to requests. The morning practices on KZbin work through the poses quickly to give a balanced sequence that takes little more than 10 minutes. This suits people who only have a short time to practice in the morning. Hi Lin and Leo, hope you are keeping yourselves safe and well. Just a quick question, not about this video but thought I'd post here as I watch. Can you please tell me where your yoga bolster is from that Leo uses in some of the videos? I want to invest but it's difficult to tell how big it is and what the depth is. Thanks in advance. Keep up with the great videos.

What if ur lower back nd sides r aching .Nd nonflexible

Hi. If you have an aching back and sides and you are not very flexible, try Set 2 in our Yoga for the Stiffer Body series. bit.ly/2RNDmvn . Set 1 is for Stiff shoulders but Set 2 works on the side flank and the back body using props to help you manage in the poses. Practice these regularly for a few weeks. These videos will help to ease out the stiffness gently. Once your body begins to move more easily, progress to our Introductory Iyengar Yoga Course bit.ly/2HkKL1J. And without appearing greedy I hope, can I ask a second question please!?! I'm aware that it's bad to lock your knees when exercising but how do I ensure I don't whilst still maintaining the stretch in the legs? Thanks for keeping me going with daily practise during lockdown. I'm very much a beginner and started classes 3 weeks before they were cancelled due to this awful virus.

We did this a while ago for students with over mobility in the knee joints but it is very helpful for all of us who tend to straighten the legs by pushing back into the knees, rather than using the muscles of the frontal thighs and knees to lift the knee caps.
