Morning Yoga Practice. Short yoga sequence. Iyengar Yoga for Beginners.
A 10 minute morning yoga practice, this yoga sequence comprises mainly standing poses (asanas). This is yoga for beginners so anyone can try this yoga workout, although because of the length, the teaching is limited. We would therefore recommend, if you are new to yoga, that you look at our Beginners Yoga series and our yoga tutorials in the Yoga Pose Directory playlist. You need no equipment for this yoga sequence apart from your yoga mat.
The sequence here includes the following poses:
Urdhva Hastasana in Tadasana. (Upward arms in Mountain Pose)
Utkatasana (Chair Pose)
Uttanasana (Forward Bending)
Paschima Namaskarasana in Tadasana (Reverse Prayer Pose in Mountain Pose)
Trikonasana (Triangle Pose)
Virabhadrasna 2 (Warrior 2 Pose)
Parsvakonasana (Extended Side Angle Pose)
Adho Mukha Svanasana (Dog Head Down)
Adho Mukha Virasaana (Forward Bending Hero Pose)
Sukhasana (Simple Cross Legs/ Easy Pose)
This morning yoga practice is complimented by a 25 minute evening yoga practice which contains calming poses like Halasana, (Plough Pose or Plow Pose). You can just do one practice on any given day if you don't have time to do both.
The standing poses in this yoga sequence invigorate and strengthen the body and the mind, preparing you for the day ahead.
