If you check Apex detail with Brian on KZbin channel.. he submitted mother cmx to a full chemical on slot and nothing broke it down. He finally used ACU 500 compound with a wool pad and even then it was just starting to break down. Mother cmx is the real deal!! On a properly prepared paint the gloss jumped-up up considerably.

Brian also uses 2 coats of every product which Can make a big difference in some products just like mequires ceramic wax. Also a gloss meters are pretty sketchy especially when you test them side by side.

How many layer to apply are good durability?

I did 3 layers, 24 hrs of curing in between each layer. Then I would only wash my vehicle after 3 days after the 3rd coat with Mothers Carnauba wash and wax. This gave me 8 solid months of water beading and fast sheeting. I do park my vehicle in a garage at night but is in the heat and rain throughout the day.

4 years later cost/value have flipped completely, I hope you were not compareing 710ml of CMX vs 250ml of Jet or Lustre... Since 2022, Mother CMX can be brought form Amazon for $36 AUD for *710ml* (= $51 AUD per litre) Lustre is $160AUD per Litre from Waxit AU (plus shipping) Jet is $130 per litre from Waxit AU (plus shipping) Is Jet or Lustre still worth up to 3 times more money than CMX on. Alitre vs litre basis? Hell no. You can buy an entire CMX kit including CMX polish, car wash, and prep spray for less than 1 litre of Lustre.

the trick for the spray bottle products that i found is stacking them use 1 or 2 coats of cmx then a final coat of a wax+ceramic because wax seems to hold up better when washing giving the ceramic sprays one single use layer of protection i only ride a motorcycle and treat that which takes 1/4th the time to wash coat then wax so i mean really its not that accurate for everyone, i have stacked different brands and dont really have any issues.

Hello good time. Can this product be used on a car that has already been ceramicized to further protect the car's ceramics? Does it not damage the pre-ceramic layer? And the second question, after a few minutes of using the product, should I wipe it with a tissue

More hydrophobic than HCW? Also, let’s say you used it as a drying aid, then applied it right after to the “dried” paint, would it bond the same as if you applied it to dry paint from the get go?

Sandro....well done my man! I would say out of the 3 recent reviews on Spray sealants the CMX works better. However, Reload is my top choice over all I’ve tried. The Nova products(I think I read somewhere that they changed the name from Nova) I can’t get my hands on but I’m pretty sure they would be my go to products as well. 👍🏽

Excellent video! I love CMX but the only thing I really don’t like is that as soon as you use a waterless wash it gets topped with whatever I would use..I use a plan non wax waterless wash. I have to reapply every time

Nice video, your @10:00 slippery test you should turn the panel 90 deg so it slides across all 3 in one go, you may or may not see it speed up or slow down.

I've used it several times on vehicles... If you live in the U.S. for the price its actually a good product. ($20 or less) Only downfall in my experience was at times it leaves some sort of sand-like deposits on the towel and surface during the application. Doesn't seem to scratch or anything but its noticeable.

whats the best spray coating like these? I want something that will bead water off and hold up to regular washes. i wash once a week. i have cmx, i only noticed it bead for one wash, after that, was not noticable. i want something way better, diy

Because every lives in different environments, puts different amounts of kilometres, stores and maintains their cars differently and prepares and applies the paint sealants at different quality levels, it’s all going to vary a lot as to the durability of any paint protection protect. If you’re willing to spend a little more fully decontaminating the paint and trims and even doing a light polish, you may have better success and long term durability with a true ceramic coating - there’s lots of reviews and comparisons on many of them on this channel. With that aside I think Meguiars HCW as well as Turtle Wax Seal n Shine are both a little more durable than Mothers CMX.

On their website they say to apply Lustre then Jet on top. I plan on buying both as well. They look awesome. If it lasts 3-6 months. Why even bother coating? You have to top a coating anyways. So I just don’t see the point anymore. Plus now I can polish whenever I feel like if now.

@@Brian_N I have only experienced F 11 and with applying 3 coat it lasted 6 months ,only down is you cannot use soap ! I like Jet and it would make sense to put it on after luster but have not seen the demo !

Mark T, Lustre first, then Jet. Lustre has a brilliant shine/gloss level but it's protection level is low, hence the Jet. Make sure you let Lustre cure for 2 hours before you put anything else on top. I'm now using a combo of Lustre, jet and Boost on my wifes black Kia and it's never looked better.

Thank you mate, my question though is different, can you use "CMX Ceramic Auto Prep" with any kind of coating--wax, resin, etc or must you do "apples to apples", meaning Ceramic to Ceramic--CMX Ceramic Prep with CMX Ceramic Coating"--or can I use my favorite past wax or resin coating?

Generally you can mix and match, most prep products will work fine for most paint protection products regardless.

I get CMX for 18 cad (like 14usd). I use way more than necassary. Happy with the results so far, but i put a layer of wax over top too enhance its lifespan, gloss and depth. With the idea being for the mothers too take over protection duty when the wax is washed away by the salt and grub of our Canadian winters...

Good video mate. I think you will find most of these products are made in the same factory where ever that may be. The company that has the biggest marketing budget wins. Companies put there own label on the product and sell it under there own brand. I know ive manufactured products for many companies in the past....So dont be fooled by these big multi national companies. There are products manufactured in Australian & NZ that are as good or better than these overseas products. DONT BE FOOLED....

Brenton L Thanks buddy , I used Meguiars Gold Class carnauba plus premium paste wax , topped it off with meguiars hybrid ceramic liquid wax and finished with a spay of meguiars hybrid ceramic spray. Tell you what,,, the shine and reflection is amazing and the beads are so tight and round stoked at the results.

Concours car care who make nova jet just had a name change to nv car care and said they will new international distribution soon so hopefully some of the guys here in other countries can try it soon. I also highly reccomend concours or nv snow which is the best snow foam/wash I've ever used

considering lustre ($3.33 per ounce) is 5.33 times the cost of cmx ($0.62 an ounce) ill go with cmx ALLLLL day long. 13:16 i know im not on an island in the middle of the ocean but lestre is still $38 USD for a tiny little 8.5 ounce (250ml) bottle. thats still INCREDIBLY expensive.

I don’t think this is a FAIR COMPARISON. why not??? Because you switch your benchmark products based on the test performed. YOU need to use ONE PRODUCT as a benchmark comparison because CMX just has their one line of products. While yes your comparison are informative they are not fair to CMX since you switch products each time. I think using one product would give a better overall comparison to each products overall performance because most people don’t have several different products to choose from!

There is now way that CMX compares with other professionaly applied ceramic coatings. I feel i have been conned with this product. I going to tske it back. Why waste time applying a very expensive product that just does not perform all that well. There is no point. Jusy get what works, and throw out the rest. Mothers CMZ definitely does not deserve to be on my detailing shelf.

I'm really irritated to the "scientific" method of this testing. First you apply it incorrectly -- stating it should reveal things. Next you say the cmx is noticeably affected by carwash soap AND THEN proceeds to apply another chemical product when clearly the cmx is no longer there. That's almost like testing the chemical product against bare paint. And then you proceed to ASSUME that "oh if you apply it correctly then it should hold".

Bro just to point out, your true depth and gloss comes from your prep work, I could still beat your bead maker with the prep work and polishing I did before adding 2 coats of cmx to my silver f150
