I have a first generation RPR in 6.5creedmoor. It got run over by a vehicle and stuff got bent. I was honest and sent it in for inspection and repairs. They replaced multiple parts and not a single dime was spent out of my own pocket, including shipping. It was my only experience in working with Ruger, but they went well above and beyond what was necessary.

Same here with an sr22 pistol that had light hammer strikes and feeding issues with the magazines after i brought it home from academy sports. Ruger paid shipping and replaced almost the whole gun! Since then it has never failed hundreds of rounds later and did not cost a dime and only took maybe week and a half-two weeks! Ruger for the win!!!!

I had a mirror polished (almost flawless) vaquero that I sent in to get the barrel properly clocked. They sent it back after it looked like they took a buffing wheel to it with the coarsest compound they had. Totally ruined a finish that I spent literally dozens of hours achieving. I will never send anything in to them again and will probably not buy from them either, since I am self imposing a ban on warranty work.

You could do this with a shot through a zoom scope showing your base and then zoom in to your target or maybe do a sped up cam shot on your quad as you drive up to the target. Second is I’d love a shot looking through scope occasionally so we can see your reticle on target and 25:10 how you make adjustments on the fly. This might take more gear than is practical but tossing it out there. Keep up the good work.

Great video. Appreciate your evaluation. One small point about customer service. Absolutely appreciate the excellent service by Barrett. But I have to say the the 100th time (I exaggerate) I appreciate not needing customer service even more. ;)
@MountainsMulletsMerica2 жыл бұрын
Touche, my preference would be not needing to use customer service but at some point things are going to give trouble. It's great knowing a company will stand behind their product. I was thinking just yesterday I've used customer service with multiple companies through the years and they've all been great. I really can't think of a single experience with a major manufacturer that was negative.

Very impressive shooting .... what do you think would happen if you were shooting 308 out of same rifles?
@MountainsMulletsMerica2 жыл бұрын
Much appreciated! I believe the MRAD and RPR would be very capable shooters with .308 but .308 would make shooting past 1000 yds much more difficult. .308 just really starts to fall off past 1000 in terms of velocity making consistent performance very challenging.

How does the barrel change work between a 300 PRC and 6.5 CM? Do you have to change the bolt as well with one being a magnum bolt face and one not?
@MountainsMulletsMerica2 жыл бұрын
You know that's a great question and something I should put in a video. Barrel change is super quick and simple. There are 2 tension screws under the barrel just forward of the chamber. Loosen those so you can slide the old barrel out and the new barrel in. Yes the bolt has to be swapped when you change calibers with difference bolt face sizes. That's also super quick and simple and when you buy conversion barrels the matching bolt face is included. Super cool design.

I have a MRAD and it’s stupid accurate and I think worth the money . I have respect for Ruger for building a much lower budget rifle with great accuracy . Not everyone can afford a Barrett or Accuracy international rifle.

Awesome video and great shooting! Question… I need to buy a scope and I’m stuck between Vortex and NightForce, what makes you choose NF?
@MountainsMulletsMerica Жыл бұрын
Oh man this is a tough one haha. I’ve owned multiple scopes from both companies and have used customer service from each company. Both manufacturers provide scopes that perform very well. Ultimately though it comes down to which models specifically you are looking at? I ran a razor gen II 3-18 for a while but decided to sell it because in my opinion it was way heavy for what it was. On the NF side I’ve run multiple nxs (3.5-15x f1s) scopes and most recently the atacrs. At the moment I run the NF atacrs because I believe they offer a lot of scope for the money. To me they have really nice glass, and I like that they are based next door to me in ID. Also I typically buy my scopes on the used market and in my experience when you buy a used NF you can resell it for exactly what you have in it. Since I’ve been happy with NF recently I haven’t had a reason to try anything else. All that said though, either company will provide you a really nice optic for your rig.

Went ahead and subbed since I seem to be finding this channel frequently, lol. I really do like your videos, they feel more real than most other comparisons or demonstrations. I'm getting into long range with a bergara hmr pro in 300 prc, topped with a viper pst II, my goal right now is just to get zeroed and get a dope book filled out to maybe 800-1000 yards. Then maybe go on a elk hunt, or teach the coyotes a lesson around my house.

Great shooting, im running the same bullet hornady 230gr a-tip and was wondering if you could share your load details, my Christiansen Arms MPR can only push them at 2714ft/s out of 75.4gr of h1000 unless my load is too mild...
@MountainsMulletsMerica2 жыл бұрын
2714 fps sounds a little slow to me given both of my 300PRC rifles are running in that 2900 fps (+/-) ball park pretty easily. I'm not sure what the youtube policy is on sharing exact load data so hit me up on Instagram @mountainsmulletsmerica if you are interested in more specifics. The 230 ATIP load for both rifles uses ADG Brass, bullet is jumping right at .090" (mag length), CCI mag primers and 78ish grs H1000 powder. For reference, the hornady reloading manual shows a max of 77.5 grs for this combo.
@Syxtus_outdoors2 жыл бұрын
@@MountainsMulletsMerica thanks for the info ill message you on Instagram, 2714ft/s sure is slow and from reading online there is definitely room to improve velocities.

Awesome setups …Is that scope on the ruger a ffp or sfp? And what do you recommend for 1000 plus yards?
@MountainsMulletsMerica2 жыл бұрын
Both of those are FFP scopes. Really anymore I don’t see the point in a SFP scope for any long range shooting, I swapped to FFP about 8-10 years ago and have never looked back.

I’ve been thinking about buying the Ruger Precision and it looks to be a solid performance rifle. Especially since it’s around a 2k price tag. I’m new to long distance shooting. Would you recommend the 300 WM or 338 Lapua Mag? Thanks
@MountainsMulletsMerica Жыл бұрын
Not sure how far you intend to regularly shoot the rifle but I’d go 300WM without question. Lower recoil, much cheaper to shoot and depending on bullet will likely offer equal or better ballistics than the 338LM with regards to wind and drop. If you haven’t already, check out my king of 1 mile video where I compare 300prc (very close to 300wm) to 338LM out to distance. I really struggle to see where a 338LM would be a better choice than a solid 300 magnum when it comes to target shooting. Just my opinion though.
