That's my impression too. The relationships between her friends and parents are more realistic than most MCU properties. I think the only thing that comes close is Spiderman; but even with those it's a bit played up. The strongest thing about Ms. Marvel is portraying reality of growing up, living in the US as an immigrant, providing a glimpse in the Muslim-American culture, etc. The weakest parts of the show is actually all the super hero stuff.

I l legit groaned as that felt both the show wanting to make it's cake and eat it too. Rewrite her powers to match up Carol and tie it in for more representation. At that point I am not interested in Kamala becoming Ms.Marvel. I am more interested in her daily life. And that's something the comic managed to balance without one or the other coming off short. In here, Kamala's daily life IS the most compelling part of the show and get superhero life comes off as very basic.

@@proto245 The worst part about the writing of that was one minute Kamran's mom and her friends were asking nicely like please help us go home and the next minute they want to kill her just cause the mom was snooping on Kamran's texts.. It made no sense. It was forced and rushed plot conrivance writing there. So much focus on the brothers wedding that they didnt take the time to flesh out properly the antagonists motivations. If Namja (Kamala's mom) had just said something to the effect of "just found out theres a window of time closing real soon and if we dont cross over we die" or something to that effect which she just finds out about which scares her obvviously and which then would give her proper agency to want to take such desperate measures to force Kamala to do their bidding.

The one annoying thing about the ep was her not telling her family. The bad guys crashing the wedding would usually be the point where the hero thinks keeping the secret is causing more harm than good.

Remember Night Light is seen as a menace not a hero right now, plus one of the Aunties said Night Lights mom should be ashamed of her. So that's one reason she won't tell her parents. The other reason is if she gets them involved they will be in danger.

If she just ran out they would have chased her and her whole family would have seen that and try to stop them. So no one would have seen her go through the exit door and like I said they coulda had two choices: get their attention then; or just have Kamran call him on the phone and alert to them that Kamala left the building.

Funny thing is, Dr Strange lives just across the east river in NYC and Bruno coulda just said hey lets visit him and ask for help and they go to the Sanctum Sanctorium and Strange answers the door and he's like 'ANOTHER teenager asking me for help which could result in the world being destroyed? OH HELL NAW" then slams the door, but then he has a change of heart and says 'here, call America Chavez, she's also a teen but can send people to different dimensions' and so they do and American transports all the Clan Destines to their home world. THE END.

Matt Lintz would've been a good Spiderman for Civil War, but due to his age - 15 at the time of Civil War - he'd keep going through puberty from 2017 to 2021, which wouldn't have worked for the stories they ended up telling. Tom Holland has looked pretty much the same for the past 5 years. Matt Lintz would've been visibly older from FFH to NWH, movies that take place within a few weeks of each other. Glad he made his way to the MCU anyway.

I don't know if anyone has mentioned this, but my theory on why Kamala isn't Stretch Armstrong-y is because they want her to be more related, power wise, to Carol Danvers and Monica Rambeau for their The Marvels show; it would look odd having her hanging out with those two with her comic book powers. Here's the thing about her comic, the fact that she was an Inhuman barely mattered. Most of the time she just went up against local criminals and super-villains (she may as well have been a mutant with how little the Inhuman royal family factored into her stories) Most of the stories had very much 'Spider-Man' vibes with her splitting her time between local superheroing and dealing with teenager stuff with her friends and family (with the whole Muslim/Pakistani background as an added flavor) The show introducing all of this Djinn stuff with her great-grandmother and interdenominational invaders feels kinda forced and out of place and a distraction from the whole 'coming of age' stuff.

The fact Kamala's parents met due to Bon Jovi feels a bit off; unless you assume that in the early 2000's Pakistan was playing Bon Jovi music on the air or whatever because at first they imply they met due to the song which makes you think they met in NJ since they live in Jersey City and Bon Jovi song came out in 1987 and theyre from NJ, but, when Kamala's mom explains to Kamala how she, her husband and Kamala's brother ("barely out of his diapers") immigrated from Pakistan over to the U.S. They also tried to show an Eid festival which is set in June but here they are wearing Winter clothes and no leaves on the trees and theres a food permit sign on the Gyro King truck that shows March 2025. So the timing is off.

I don't think people remember that we only saw Thanos once in a post credit scene until we saw him in IW. Let phase 4 be a way to introduce new characters. Bring them together in phase 5 and then climax in phase 6 just like 1-3. Everyone wants each new movie to be the best MCU movie, but they are overlooking the story that is in front of them because of over-expectations.

Nah, the Eternals are still very much out there; they're not the "Inhumans" so to speak.... Kingo did get a shout-out haha. But also, new "Thor: Love & Thunder" promos have been coming out, and we've actually seen the Celestials in a shot or two. I think because there is SO MUCH more MCU content out there now, both on the big-screen *and* small-screen, it feels a bit more disjointed. But they're doing what they've always done: setting up the pieces; setting up the characters who will more than likely play larger roles in the future, and setting up the story status quo. With the major success of Phase 3, I think the audience has kinda become conditioned to want the "Endgame" scenario NOW. But really, we're still in that Phase 1 stage again. That first Avengers movie took 4 years to get to. We're still barely 2 years into Phase 4. There's a lot more moving pieces now. So I understand that criticism of "where is all this heading?"... but (at the risk of sounding like a shill lol) the MCU has earned the right to the benefit of the doubt to let them tell the story at their pace. Ms. Marvel probably is the first MCU property in what seems like a while that seems to actually be more overtly covering ground that has more explicit connections to other established MCU storylines and characters....... Also, I'm really enjoying the show lol. While I understand the criticism about the action, I really feel that's not really the point of this series anyway. I love how they're taking their time to develop Kamala as a character, her friends and family, and how they all shape her beliefs and how she takes action.

For all those upset about her powers I like this better because it makes her appear less Goofy. Seeing a teenage girl with big Goofy fingers is kind of off-putting to see in real life. I dont believe the Djinn storyline and I think its part of why the origin feels rushed. Theyre Kree sleeper soldiers, experimented on humans aka Inhumans, the Nick Fury's Secret Invasion will be reversed - Kree instead of Skrull. Then after Captain Marvel 2 it all might end with establishing a community of Inhumans where they can do a real deal Inhumans movies.

I suspect that in a few years when the larger story of this phase of the MCU becomes clear we will see why Ms Marvel's powers were changed. If the direction is to have her go out into space with Captain Marvel and there's this big space cosmic adventure thing going on then it makes sense for her to have this new power set. So, it solves a few problems... human stretching still looks bad even with modern effects and they needed a way to put her powers more on Captain Marvel's level.

She was never meant to be on the same wavelength as Carol as her being different is what made her appealing to read. The moment they strip her roots as a street-level for the sake of Feige to have her make aesthetic sense with Carol and Monica is when it becomes clear what Feige wants does not fit the character.

I am surprised you three professionals still don't know, or get it, that the reason KK's powers were changed was to match more of Captain Marvel's and Monica's powers, given that they will all be in the Marvels movie. In my opinion, the powers Ms Marvel have been given, are visually good, and not as cheap as you all think. Btw, almost all comments I have read from people who like the show, have said that they are happy and very satisfied with the change of powers, so I am not the only one saying it.

Also I think another reason the powers were changed was to link her to the antagonists; the Clan Destines, created in 1994 by Alan Davis, which have nothing to do with Ms Marvel in the comics; a family of half Djinn descended from Adam of Destine, a superhero from the 12th centrury who fell in love with a Djinn he saved and they had many kids.

In the comics, Ms Marvel is an Inhuman. The MCU doesn't have Inhumans, but have aliens, so it makes sense to have something else that'll tie it all in. In the end, I feel that the complaints about this is stupid.

He said they won't be doing any more reviews because of he thinks no one is talking about the show and therefore they're just going to do a wrap-up once it's finished. He says this even though it trends on twitter and alot of other channels discuss the show. They reviewed worse shows like Boba Fett, but yet somehow this gets ignored.

While I dont like how they changed her origin/power set. The teen/human aspects of this show is what I'm really loving. It's what i wanted from most of the MCU spiderman movies. She feels like she is becoming a friendly neighborhood hero.

@@TWP13 it's a brand new concept and the newest MCU character from even the comics, the character didn't even appear until 2013. So this makes total sense. Plus, it is geared to the smallest viewer base of all the marvel properties, which means it's actually doing pretty well. It is beating what book of boba Fett did.
