MST3K is the only show to date I know of that's devoted almost an entire episode to waffles and was genius enough to make it work.

Out of curiosity, I looked up the IMDb page on this movie, and read about the actress who played 'Creepy Girl' _Enger_, Susan Cabot. Went through eight foster homes as a kid, married at 17, dated King Hussein of Jordan until he found out she was Jewish (!). She was murdered in December of 1986 by her own son, who "suffered from dwarfism," after enduring years of mental and physical abuse. At least Roger Corman gave her a few moments in the sun, in an otherwise tragic life.

@Kouban - I would videotape the shows when they originally aired, and when I transferred them to DVD, I didn't edit them at all, so the blank VHS tape at the end of each episode just shows up as bluescreen. Nor did I edit them when I ripped the DVDs and uploaded the mp4 files. :-)

During conversion from VHS to DVD, I just let the tape play out - I was probably at work or something. Then I didn't edit it when I ripped the DVD into my computer, or uploaded it to KZbin. So call it a result of efficiency/laziness.

Two words: broadcast rights. They had reviewed the short and written riffs for it, and then created the sketch, but then lost the rights (or didn't properly secure them) to broadcast the short. I can imagine how they had to scramble to put "The Home Economics Story" in its place.

Eh, I doubt broadcast rights were the issue, seeing as how Spring Fever has been in the public domain since 1979. I'm guessing it was because they found that when they added the short and the film together, it still didn't fit the 75 minutes required for a film, so they added a longer short and saved Spring Fever for later.

Wow, those waffle ideas actually sound really good. Especially the spinach and ricotta one.

The weird thing about the home economics movie is that people from Iowa still dress that way.
