Hey Wedge, do you think a card like tombstalker could be nice in this type of deck. Another delve creature seems nice due to the fact you are always filling up your grave. I have also seen copter in some faeries builds so I know it's sweet in modern. Great tech as always!

Been playing since return to Ravnica and have not sold many cards, I think I own at least half of this deck and I love me some Esper Control, I haven't attempted to put together a modern deck, a bit intimidated by what I thought was a requirement to play modern and that is a depth o knowledge and long time experience, but with so many of these cards being printed post return to Ravnica, I feel pretty secure here and think i'm gonna build it. Thanks for passing along the idea!!

I play Monastery Mentor in my Mardu Midrange deck and it's a good time. Feels good to flood the board with a lingering souls. Mentor is often a turn 4 play since I generally want to play it and hold mana up for a removal spell to assure getting value out of playing it. That means turn 5 can sometimes just be LS+Flashback getting me six tokens for 5 mana which is totally fine. Glad to see Souls and Mentor slam in the same list here. Seems fun.

Frontier has isolated appeal. In certain areas, where modern isn't as popular, Frontier is doing alright, but it hasn't been accepted widely. We'll see how the next 6-12 months go, but I think something has to change for it to spread more.

TheManaSource I think grade hit it on the head, modern is very healthy and diverse right now, and standard made a roaring comeback. New formats tend to thrive, at least at first, at the expense of others, and it's main competitors aren't budging in terms of popularity.

This deck looks expensive, but I priced it at $526.42, which is not bad for Modern. All that hand disruption and looting is going to be highly skill-intensive, though. This is definitely a deck you have to learn to pilot.

Eliya Selhub Agreed, for a newbie, that has minimal knowledge about the game, they would be like a deer left in the headlights when holding this deck in their hands. Even a skilled player would want to play it a couple times I'm sure to get the feel for it.

I feel like the deck might like one Narset Transcendent in the sideboard. Give some rebound to a removal, hand disruption or even lingering souls in the odd chance you wanted to do something different next turn with you mana but still get the two extra spirits. Her plus isn't bad either, outside of reveling the card to your opponent but still solid and her ult it retarded if you get to it.

Can someone please explain to me what is going on in the card art on Inquisition of Kozilek? My eyes hurt. I just do not understand what is happening

Samson, I can explain to you what is happening in the artwork. It is 2 Zendikari vampires (male one on left, female one on right with bra). They are both stabbing each other, but the male's blade has pierced all the way through the female vampire's body. The female vampire is wearing a white mask to indicate that she has chosen to side with Kozilek (or at least Ulamog and the Eldrazi in general). This has enraged the male vampire because he does not agree with siding with the Eldrazi (refer to flavor text), and the mask now has blood on it due to the stabbing. Hope this helps.

naoku126 basically in order to attack or block with the Copter, you need to tap another creature you control that has power 1 or more hence the "crew". It can be any creature with 1 or more power so tokens are very useful for the Copter and decks that create lots of tokens make Copter useful often.

Most of the deck is quite low on the mana curve so 21 lands is ok.

you can cycle excess lands with jace and copter too. this deck isn't mono red

You don't need all the walkers. Usually playing 1 of them is sufficient as you would be more focused on getting more mentors + more tokens. The anthems by the walkers are powerful, but you would be more pressed to win by quantity.

You don't cycle as much, contrary to what you would think in a deck with baby jace and copter. Jace flips really easily, and copter gets outclassed pretty quickly.
