Your narration in these videos are absolutely hilarious! The sandwich with the curry sauce looks delicious. I think this might well be the most criminally underrated food channel on youtube.

I’m from south of England, pea fritters in every fish n chippy. I moved up north. No chip shops up here sells them and everyone I speak too up here has never heard of them!! So I’m resorting to making my own or have them as a treat when I pop down south 😢

Yep, I'm a southerner and can't find them on Merseyside where I live now, or savaloys and flat fishcakes. Shite chippys all Chinese owned

Love mushy pea fritters. Not had one in donkeys years. I tell people about them and met with blank expressions. But finally, my local chippy makes them.

I’m a Teessider living abroad now, and remember that Labour MP years ago thinking the chippy in his Hartlepool constituency sold guacamole. They were, of course, mushy peas! 🤦🏻♀️🤣 Soft southerner trying to fit in up north!

An American here. I made and tried these myself, and I've got to say its not bad. I like peas. Mushy peas not so much but after mixing in some non mushed peas and some cheese this is a great snack / side item. And this is from a southern American.
Im a southerner always had these from a chippy when a kid

As an American Northerner, I'm so glad that we don't have these sort of squabbles between the north and the south (and I'm sure we never did). I remember visiting a rural bar in Tennessee a few years ago. I overheard a few of the locals talking about getting ready to "beat the Yankees". I was so happy to hear them say that. I told them that I'm a New York Mets fan and hate the Yankees too. We all had a laugh and went back to cleaning our guns whilst guzzling our Bud Lights.

I grew up in the south and moved to Australia when i was 16. Miss these (and the fish and chips) so much.... I've just eaten a tin of Bachelors Mushy Pea (1.50 pounds a tin!!!) while watching this and reminiscing. Will have to give this a go. Yummy.
@Gazzuk586 ай бұрын
Mushy peas in a can, no thanks absolutely terrible, If you can't find proper dried marrowfat peas and steep them overnight. Then better off getting a can of processed peas, drained and add a little water salt and small pinch of sugar and gently mush them yourself as they cook but don't overdo it, these will taste far better than a sloppy tin of crap.

Is this like the British equlivant of Hush Puppies? Those things Americans seem to think Brits eat at their fish and chips approximations.

Here in South Wales Valleys, I am probably the only one that eats a lot of mushy pea fritters. I love mine on top of my chips & gravy in a tray, absolutely bangin'!! I will be trying your version though and subscribing to your channel. I prefer the northerners (England) to the southerners (England)

that...looks AMAZING. I already have my (New England USA) family addicted to your chip shop curry sauce, because it goes so well with hush puppies (which, if you're not familiar, are sort of cornmeal&onion fritters).

skimped on the curry sauce there son haha-you need to spread it after the butter both sides of the bread then a good load on the fritters before closing. looks good though 👍🍺 need a beer to wash down of course 😜

As a soft shandy drinking southerner (well, I don't drink Shandy but I am a southerner, let the bottle of London Pride beside me be proof of that!) I am shocked and appalled that I'm not getting random tasty shite from the chippy deepfried and put in a bap. We truly are behind XD

Not going to lie would never have thought of battering mushy peas, although I do like haggis balls in batter. Your stottie is a thing of beauty too and definitely more substantial than a brioche bun I'd say.

Learnt about curry sauce in the army from two brilliant lads from Liverpool , now sadly gone to the great chip shop in the sky. Mushy peas as is or fritters were part of growing up with a tanner in my pocket , waiting in line after Cub Scouts finished . Now addicted to curry sauce (your recipe) and happier than a pig doing what pigs love doing. Try deep fried battered Haggis with a proper gravy or your curry sauce. Life can still be worth living. Thanks mate.

Love your videos! I'm an American, and these look amazing!! Can't wait to try them. One comment mentioned hush puppies, which are great, but they are like corn bread batter usually, then deep fried. The only similarity is how they are deep fried.

@@TheTeessideChef awesome thank you my kids love pea fritters so be handy to freeze a load. What gas mark would you recommend and for roughly how long? X
@TheTeessideChef9 ай бұрын
The how long will depend on various factors so I'd say cook from frozen at around 160C-180C (Gas mark 3-4) until they're piping hot inside. 10-15 minutesish

Not for southerners? Surely you jest? I could get pea fritters in any fish & chip shop I cared to visit in Hampshire. Now living in the West Midlands, no chippie has ever heard of them. Please change your geographical emphasis if you want to dis somebody - the south is crammed full of northerners (and many others worldwide) who've brought their cuisine with them. Try a visit, you might be surprised.
