Hey Friends, Jillian here. Happy ⚡WARNING WEDNESDAY!!!!⚡ Wow, lots of strong feelings in the comments about: 1) Pau's drumming (and Jer missing the brush/stick switch) and 2) the language (not using the "EFF" bomb, missing the first & also changed lyrics). Deep breath...let's talk about it. First, let me be very clear here. We NEVER questioned Pau's ability, Jeremy simply didn't see / catch what was happening and wanted to learn and understand. The angles made it hard to tell. Come on TWA, we've covered The Warning every single Wednesday for nearly a year - those who have been around KNOW we'd never doubt Pau's ability. We definitely will rewatch...many times, to better understand Pau's drumming technique. Promise!! As we've mentioned before, it's tough trying to "get" everything on the first go-round, especially watching a live performance on a laptop screen. Next, although Jeremy and I disagree on whether or not they should have changed the lyrics (I agree, he doesn't), the bottom line is we are each entitled to our opinions and it's 100% ok if we don't agree. Right?!! Finally, on a HAPPY NOTE, we are excited about all of you coming the the Feb 6th CDMX show!!! We absolutely want to meet as many of you as we can. Stay calm and keep rocking TWA!! ⚡Viva!!!⚡ ❤🥷🏻

@@musikbyjh One thing to keep in mind when it seems like people are piling on - not everyone reads all of the comments before making their own comment. You know how sometimes a reactor will pause a video to say something because if they wait until they end they might forget? Same thing with commentors. When I heard Jeremy say that he wondered why they didn't use the F word here but they used it in Consume, I paused and immediately dropped a comment with my thoughts on it. AFTER the video I went back and read through some of the comments and was like "Oh, I guess that's already been pointed out a dozen times already!" 😃 We know you guys love The Warning!

I think most of us are playfully piling on just to give you a hard time. At least that in my case. As far as changing the lyrics, I think it was very tasteful and well done. Not a problem. In regarding how tired the girls seem, yes they are tired. But I'm sure the meet and greets get quite tedious. Additionally, interviewers always bring up the same questions that I'm sure get quite boring to answer. They love what they do and would never want to stop! You do see her use the brush later in the song too, just for a second then she sets it down and picks up her stick. She's just such a master back there, we don't even know all the things she's doing! @LorneJamesB, Hey there, Jillian here. Thanks for watching and the comment! I agree completely, but many others (including Jer) don't. It's all good though, we are each entitled to our opinions. I can't imagine Luis and Mony are going to want to tour with them forever, but who knows?!?
@musikbyjhАй бұрын
Th F word has been censored because of the word itself. Not because of the use of it. You cant go on tv and say the f word and tell them "oh i mean it like this". It doesn't work that way and has never worked that way. It's called a bad word. Not "depends on the meaning you put behind it". And I also said how amazing this was. 🤷🏽♂
@awadoma2702Ай бұрын
@@musikbyjh I doubt the parents will stop touring with them anytime soon... they are actually part of the team and have roles they perform and if not them then other people would have to be hired to do what they do. I'm sure as they get bigger and their team grows they will do less running around and be more supervising/support role and one or both may be able to take time off as they want. The girls have been asked about the Parents and touring and their answer was "it's up to them on how much they want to tour with us and when they want to stay home" I think the girls are happy to have their parents watching out for them and be part of the team for as long as the parents want to do it.

Pay attention Jeremy. 😂😂 Also, Kudo's to the "Ladies" for cleaning it up, might be a Sirius thing or just something they decided....either way when they have used the F bomb (Consume) or middle finger jesters it is definitely in a different "Context" than the meaning here. They also cleaned up the lyric "Would she go down on you in a theatre?" Good for them keeping this PG rated.

It;s funny, I watched another reactor that watched their MTV EMA performance of Automatic Sun (which you MUST react to, it's epic seeing the "Industry" getting their first taste of DPA)and he thought that they were synching everything except Dany's vocals. They are so good now that they are efficient (ie..Pau and Ale just grooving so good it looks like a track) like session players. Think about it, the comment from David Bendeth and the Lava folks that they played everything on Error. You do audio engineering so you must be aware of all of the times that they put in a session player because the usual musicians couldn't get it done in time. They are at that level. I'm good with the PG version of this. They don't have to be as angry as Alaniss.

They performed a 6 song set for SiriusXM Oct 25 in New York City before flying back to Canada to open for Halestorm and Evanescence that evening. Which was a week before the end of their tour in Toronto so yes they were all a little burnt out. I think it's pretty sad with the state of music these days that the default thought is that musicians fake their playing. You see all that all over, especially with pop music. But with the amount of videos of The Warning you have watched you should know that they never fake and are unafraid to show their mistakes. They were forced once to "Lip Sync" by a local Monterrey, Mx. tv station and vowed never to that again... And I'm with you Ninja I am happy that they switched the lyric to keep it classy and Jer is missing the point on context. Yes The Warning have used "Fucker" in Consume but the context needed that word there at that time. And the context with angst in You Oughta Know isn't lost by switching the lyric as Dany did. But like you said we are all allowed to have our own opinion (At least until Jan 20th... LoL!!!) and there is nothing wrong other than being wrong with having a differing opinion. You are still allowed to have a wrong opinion...
@brentravnsborg2782Ай бұрын
You are 100% correct this was released the day that The Warning was playing in Quebec City with Halestorm and Evanessence because it is Pau's favorite breakup song and that is where Alanis is from.
@ericmeyer7697Ай бұрын
A subtle distinction, but the F-word as used on their new song Consume was a noun-essentially name calling. In this song it’s the F-word as a verb, which makes it sexualized (like the reference to oral sex earlier in the song that they changed).
@Gforceracing20Ай бұрын
They changed the lyric in the first verse also, there was no "will she go down on you in a theater"

Recorded on 11 September in New York, and broadcast, I believe, on 28 October, towards the end of their tour in Canada -- hence the tribute by covering this song. As for tired, yes, they said in one or two interviews, and at the end of their last show in Canada, that they are very tired. And hopefully they can have a break between now and February, when they do their Mexico shows. They're back in Europe in April, and Dany has said that their diary is full through the rest of 2025 into 2026. Hopefully they will get a proper rest, otherwise they most definitely will burn out.

For me it has more to do with Dany, she probably doesn't feel comfortable saying the "F" word, we can corroborate this in their blogs, Pau in Spanish tends to be more direct and "aggressive" than Dany, I have never listened to Dany say a bad word, she is very correct, probably if Pau was singing the song she would say it as is and even so it is in doubt, because as someone out there mentioned, Pau in the Creep cover she eliminated the bad word, so...

I think that the band were just in a “studio mode” mindset for this set. They were at a radio station and the audio take was everything. There just happened to be cameras there. Originally Flea on bass, and Navarro on guitar someone said 🤷♂️I never knew. I can hear them now though. Ale kills it! SiriusXM always has great sound engineering 🤘🕊❤️🤘

They killed this! I'm 45, so the Jagged Little Pill album just brings me back to high school. Covering Alanis is tricky since she had such a distinct voice but Dany SLAYED this!

They're Wonderful as Always. I love them forever !!!. Jeremy and Jillian Thanks for the reaction and support to the girls.

The removal of the vulgarity does not reduce the passion of the performance. It is a class move (IMHO). Also, Pau is playing with a brush. See the 11:15 mark in your video for the brush switch.
@RockMusic1959Ай бұрын
@bigfan007. Totally agree with you...
@DrasalKatАй бұрын
She was using a stick and a brush, puts the brush down and picks up the stick. Yes, I noticed the delay on Dani's voice. It was just the Sunglasses with Pau. There are other songs from the same set. There is a different video from that set where Ale looks super bored. The original bassline is by Flea... Ale kills it.

Radio play of this song in the 90s was "safe". The album had the real words
@williamburkholder769Ай бұрын
Yes, Pau uses brushes in this, switching back and forth. The lack of gratuitous sexual references is a radio sort of choice. It makes it more accessible to more people. Alanis did it the same way in the version played over the air back in the day, but the album had the raw profanity. I'm pretty sure that The Warning aren't going to get any airplay for *Consume* unless they change that "greedy little f-er" to something like sucker or (bleep)er. This is an EXCELLENT cover. I like it more than the original, and I'm a huge fan of that *Jagged Little Pill* album. Pau's tastefully restrained when the song calls for it. She's tastefully bombastic when the song calls for it. Ale pulled from her jazz roots for this, just bubbling and simmering underneath it all with perfect fills. Jaco Pastorius (or Tal Wilkenfeld or Carol Kaye) would be impressed. Dany SLAYS the vocal, with the perfect amount of sarcasm, angst, hurt, and anger. She paints a picture of barging into "the middle of dinner" in a fancy restaurant and ranting the song in her ex's face, while his new main squeeze panics and runs, flailing arms in the air and screaming at him. Meanwhile, she's killing it on guitar. These ladies are now so experienced, they could play on anyone's record and kill it. I cannot get enough of it! I hope they make a single of it and add it to future set lists just for kicks. It's a great song, made better by The Warning. They honor it with just what it deserves.

We just LOVE your description, @williamburkholder769!!!! You should be a music writer!!! Bravo!

@@musikbyjh Well thank-you! At 69. I write every day, as I have most of my life, since my early teens. Like anything else, you have to keep doing it or you lose it. The Warning certainly got that very early in life. I'm sure you get it about sound mixing, too. Practice is part of the game. The more you do it better, the better you do it. People who strive for total professionalism love to watch others do the same.
@PaleHorseShabuShabuАй бұрын
Pau cleaned up her cover of “Creep,” too, but who knows why this one was cleaned up. Dany also said “make out it you in a theater” instead of the original “go down on you in a theater,” so it could be the sexual references being the problem. And yeah, Dany has a lot of reverb on her voice here, maybe just a touch of delay on the choruses. Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to go practice my Pau-style sleight of hand.

LOL! That last sentence though 👀🤣
@charleswharmbyiii8401Ай бұрын
In Consume, the F bomb is calling somene a name. In YOK, it's referring to the actual act. I think that might be the difference.
@teckenboyАй бұрын
Just read your comment after posting a near identical one. The girls even removed going down in a theater line.
@musikbyjhАй бұрын
A word is a word...in my opinion. It's not the meaning that is considered "bad"....its the actual word.
@brucekaraki1832Ай бұрын
@@charleswharmbyiii8401 they changed the actual meaning, not just the word, if that clears things a little 😉
@MTH58Ай бұрын
@@musikbyjh Totally disagree. Alanis used the verb form, In Consume, TW used the noun…huge difference.
@DrasalKatАй бұрын
@@musikbyjh In this case, its the concept that is what I think they changed. F*****d and touched are two totally different things, like the go down and make out are different :P

Nice Reaction! The girls have time off now. Their last show was on Oct. 30 in Toronto and Dany said that was it for touring for the rest of the year.
@KansaSCaymanSАй бұрын
TW haven’t talked about the lyrics change, but I think Dany usually interprets lyrics as if they applied to her, and my impression is that the 2 lines they changed are not something she would say if the song applied to her. In Consume it is Pau who is singing the “greedy little f*ckers” line, and you don’t hear or even see Dany clearly mouthing that line. I think it was recorded when they were in NY for their Times Square gig. I don’t disagree with the idea that they may be tired, but I think Pau (like Ale) was just in “studio mode”, and this was also the last of 7 songs they recorded at SXM that day. 😎👍

I saw in an interview lately that they had a personal trainer on this tour. They have also said that they were tired. It looked like they had a great time at the EMS red carpet and show. I think the show was very important to them they looked a little nervous.

Pau using a brush in the right hand and switching so quick was nice to see and Ale playing Flea's bass line in this sounds so good.
@KabukiKidАй бұрын
Ale probably doing Flea's bass part even cleaner than Flea did it. ;-) For the original recording, the sound engineer said he had to "fix" Flea's bass part because he was off time. Our Ale is a human metronome, so she wasn't going to make that mistake. :-)

A quick note. Some posted The Warning performing Consume and could hear Pau clearly Dany almost looked like she was not quite comfortable singing the line “Dirty Little…” keep an eye out for that. Giving the finger on that show is how guests day good bye. Dropping the F bomb is something completely different. 🤘
@don-musicАй бұрын
This mix is so annoying to me… nobody heard what Ale played through the second half of the first verse because the bass is waaaay over powered by guitar and drums and scooped out in the mids. Hence why i made my remix of this on my channel, to hear ale. But either way, great reaction guys!

Hmmm, maybe because this particular "EFF Bomb" was such an iconic part of the song. Can't say for sure, but first thoughts. ❤🥷🏻

Its the context of how its used. In consume its a adjective in YOK its a verb.

I know what you mean ... In Consume it's an agent noun and does not refer to coitus. 🤓 Also, not a can of soup. (a Consomme joke)

If you are gonna get technical about the lyrics, they also changed the first verse from "go down" to" make out" in a theatre. I think this version is more family oriented cuz they have a lot of very young fans also. I think this is a great version for all the ages!

@genestrehleАй бұрын
I believe this recording was done during their tours in New York City at the beginning of their recent tour. They did a few song recordings while there for SiriusXM. Pau and Ale did not want to take away Dany’s singing so just wanted to be in the background and provide any support in this cover. This original song is banned in radio and on-air performances still to this day. 🤘🎶❤️🩹
@jaimejimenez1179Ай бұрын
And Dany is getting better and better every day, it's amazing what she can do with her voice and her guitar.

Somewhat of a full circle moment also. The Warning opened for Foo Fighters shortly before Taylor Hawkins passed away. Taylor played drums for Alanis on the Jagged Little Pill album tour. They were awesome, Ale making Flea's bassline look easy.🤘🤘
@briancoburn9556Ай бұрын
I think the reason why they changed TWO parts of the song is because they have a ton of very young fans. The f bomb in Consume is completely different from the one in YOK. A totally different context. Also, Pau was using brushes. You can see it the second time when the song comes to its quiet section.
