It they wanted it to be a boys trip then just speak up and say so. Mom's have been known to do a girls trip for them, their friends and daughters. If that's what they or any parent wants to do just say so from the beginning to avoid any miscommunication and deal with any fallout from the jump.

I think the best response to the guys saying "no wives no girlfriends" after OP said he was bringing his daughter would be to ask what the fuck they were implying about his relationship with his daughter. Story 1: He is well within his right to ask for a paternity test, but that doesn't come without consequences. It absolutely does imply infidelity on the woman's part and women are just as allowed to react as they see fit. For every action there is a equal and opposite reaction. He's allowed to ask, but his wife is allowed to feel however she will.

@@ameixsell They can ask for one and want one, depending on each couple’s relationship it could break their partner’s trust by asking for one because it can and often is an implication they had been unfaithful so that can be a consequence. Again it doesn’t mean that they cannot ask for one, just it could end up imploding the relationship regardless of the results. There are other stories I’ve seen where it came back positive, they were the father, and the partner still left because they felt that the father didn’t trust them and in turn the partner stopped trusting them for questioning their loyalty.

I’m so glad that my father figure (family friend) didn’t treat me like this just because I was a girl. He took me fishing out on the boat, took me to cabins, camping, cooking what we caught over a fire, hunting, sports events, motorcycling, to science museums etc. He never had kids of his own, so I was-for all intensive purposes-his daughter because I didn’t have much of a Dad. I call him Dad, he calls me his daughter. I spend Father’s Day with him. Some of my favorite childhood memories are of us doing these things and it taught me to be a better all around person who can survive crisis when it occurs. I handled the pandemic like a champ. While everyone was out running around trying to find basic necessities I was all stocked up prior to that because being prepared was taught to me as a child by that man. A man who didn’t look at a little girl and say “you can’t do it”. Instead he handed me a fishing pole or a gun and said “you CAN do this”. And I swear to God it made me practically worship the ground he walked on and I would do anything for him now. He has an ally for life, and now that he’s getting older I have his back like he had mine and I will be there for him as he was for me.

100 %! THIS is a man! THIS is the kind of progression women's equality is looking for and this kind of father all little girls need. He has the perfect balance of just treating you kid, male or female, like they are what they are, their own little person and appropriately backing/standing up for them. Keep it up OP! My grandpa was my father figure, he was a WWII era man and ironically my grandmother is more misogynistic and sexist than a man from the war and good ol' boys days could ever be. You know what he did with his "little women" (i.e. daughter and granddaughters) he taught us how to work on and gave us useful little tricks on cars, he and my mom made sure my sister and I knew how to check fluids, change tires, change the car battery etc, before we were even ok'd to take driving lessons. He taught me and my sister how to drive tractors and so much more. He never once thought we were less than simply for being girls. He taught us life skills and fun hobbies, things that shouldn't be gendered but to have great memories of and skills everyone is better off having. He was the greatest mix of tough yet soft. He would always say life is serious enough as it is and a good amount of it you will need to be serious, but keep a little piece of your inner child alive and awake. It's ok to also have a little childish, mischievous fun in your day to day life, you can have both. I don't think there was a person alive that didn't like or respect him, god I miss that man. 💜

Story four: If it helps with nausea, why are they complaining?! What if OP gave him Dramamine and the coworker had a bad reaction? It's just a candy for nausea, even if it's targeted at pregnant women! I always picked Midol Teen (it had this name before it stopped being targeted at teens) because the same one with caffeine gives me a bad stomach ache. It did it's work. I still pick its generic equivalents because they're effective without giving me a stomach ache. Again, if ginger candies help with nausea without feeling drowsy, WHY ARE THEY COMPLAINING?! It's just a remedy!! ಠ_ಠ Story five: What. A. F*cking. Creep. Who the hell keeps tabs on someone like that?! Disgusting!! I wouldn't laugh it off. That's a MAJOR breach of privacy!! ಠ_ಠ

(Specific to you're "Story four" response) For almost anything else I would completely agree with you, but ginger is so ubiquitous in nausea treatment that humbly have to disagree. Especially with the emphasis on candy. I think you're seeing it more "pregnancy-specific" (and not without reason- I mean, this whole post revolves around the association of it), but unless this is a very, *very* specific brand of ginger candy, I can almost guarantee it's branded for any age or gender. It's just heavily associated with natural remedies and nausea, so plenty of people consume it for that purpose whether it helps them or not (For example: As a kid, the only things I was allowed to consume on an upset stomach were ginger ale and saltines... I'm guessing it was because the saltines would be so boring that the ginger [which isn't actually significantly present in ginger ale, as it turns out] could sneak in and karate chop whatever bug was responsible for my stomach being as it was....) At least that was the ONE treatment that didn't involve gargling with warm salt water.

I can see the philosophy of the no wives no girlfriends fishing trip. It is a "guys only" weekend without their spouses. I can even see not allowing a 5-year-old girl to go either as much of the weekend is probably drinking, swearing, and farting and it probably wasn't really a safe environment for a 5-year-old girl. However, once they allowed the 5-year-old boy to go, then that throws any sort of "no kids rule" out the window, and as such, the 5-year-old girl should be allowed to go as well. Case closed, discussion over. I know a family that had just the "guys" allowed to go on a Memorial Weekend Fishing Trip until the daughters grew up and then they and the wives told them either we all go or no one goes and if you do go, expect the locks to be changed on the doors when you get home. They all go now every Memorial Weekend and have a blast. I know this firsthand since it is a couple of my cabins they come up and use on my lakehome property (it's a former Resort so it has several cabins).

Story 1: The guy is probably being paranoid and likely doesn't need a paternity test. However, paternity fraud is surprisingly common. Around 30% of fathers have to go through the pain of finding out their kid isn't theirs on average. That is way too high. Hell, it happened to my own dad with one of his exes and it's just lucky they never married. Not to mention you see so many stories of men finding out their kids aren't theirs and it's no wonder it's easy to be paranoid. So, yeah, NTA for trying to talk him out of it, but it's not like OP could understand that particularly worry. Story 2: NTA, the friends are being weird. They mean for it to be a "guys trip" but the rules don't say no women allowed just no wives or girlfriends. If Tim can bring his kid, OP should be able to bring his, no matter their gender. Update is good, friends aren't assholes, just kinda stupid. Story 3: NTA. Being selfish, what the fuck? He's selfish because... what? His new wife asked him to go half in on a car? OP doesn't allude to how much he makes now, but I don't believe he just has that much money laying around between what is likely a fuck ton in back child support and bills and other usual things. He more than likely had to save up to afford to pay half, which he would have to do to afford it. And that's assuming this is a new car instead of a second or third hand one that probably cost less than $15k on his end. He's wrong for not thinking to talk to his ex wife about going half in on 2 cars? Sure, okay. Story 4: NTA, these coworkers are just extremely stupid. Story 5: NTA, that dude is definitely trying to stalk OP.

My dad's side of the family takes a yearly fishing trip to the same place where they camp out and fish all day. It's always been a "guys trip". No wives/girlfriends/daughters. Well, my sister has always been a "tom boy" type of girl growing up. And on the family vacation (same side of the family, only all-inclusive where we rented cabins on the same lake every year) she would repeatedly out-fish the guys. And when she got old enough to handle knives she asked to learn how to clean the fish, and she enjoyed it. Eventually the guys in the family all decided to invite her on the guys trip every year as well. It didn't matter that she was a girl. The fact was, they always had better luck bringing back good catches at the end of the day with her, and she wasn't squicked out by the job of cleaning said catch, and would help with that chore. She even had her own set of knives for it. After that the "guys trip" was still called the "guys trip" but girl family members were allowed to come if they really wanted to. My mom, aunt and I visited for a few hours one year but my sister was really the only girl who wanted to join the guy's fishing trip proper. These days she's too busy to really do so between her job, a martial arts class she teaches, and other adult stuff, but she's asked if she's able to go every year still.

Story 1: NTA. I am totally fine with the concept of Men going their own way if a relationship goes poorly, and he does have a right to a paternity test. But if he goes through with it then he will have to face the consequences, which would likely be Divorce. It would be different if they BOTH had agreed to a paternity test, but demanding one will damage the relationship beyond repair. Story 2+Update: NTA all the way through, and I do consider the friends AH's. Saying "he can pursue a paternity test, but he'll be punished for it" is pretty stupid. Like, yeah I'll allow you to do this thing, but I'm gonna punish you for it. The whole existence of punishment, is to discourage bad acts. I don't think anyone would ever talk about murder like "oh well yeah you can walk up to that person and just kill them, but you're gonna get punished for it". People are gonna say "wtf, no you can't just go around killing people." Even if the first statement is true on a factual level, the vast majority of people would never have that tone on the matter. The reason why things like MGTOW and Redpill are as popular as they are is because they support people where most others won't in issues most others don't do anything about or even discuss. Believe me, I think alot of the stuff in those groups is cringe, but who else is talking about combating paternity fraud, or protecting you're property through prenups, and so many similar things? If all you do is alienate the people with these concerns, they're naturally going to gravitate towards the groups that offer their support. And how is it seemingly ok for a woman to be offended by a man asking for a test to protect himself in a situation where the system will very rarely support him, let alone punish someone who commits this form of fraud. But he's not allowed to be insecure about the paternity. Do you think cheating is generally done by partners who aren't trusted in the first place? Unless you have a solution or even an idea to at least help combat the problem, who are you helping? This does nothing to help the men with these concerns. This does nothing to help the women offended by paternity tests. What does this stigma actually solve or help? If men being concerned about this to the point of wanting a paternity fraud should be seen as wrong, then what will be done to help prevent that concern?

If the guy had romantic feelings for her and she didn't consider him a friend, then it would be creepy but that isn't the case. If the guy had done it to another male friend, no one would give it another thought. I despise fishing, it's boring, it means a ton of mosquitoes to drive you insane, working for food I don't actually want, and tons of throws without getting shit, while my father gets a fish on every toss(I've gone through that exact scenario). But if your daughter(after hearing what it will entail), wants to go fishing with you(rather than getting dragged to it like I was -.-), then that's great. I wouldn't condemn them for a sort "men's night out" idea, like so many here seem to. Don't hear shit like this when there's a "girl's night out", do you? I also don't condemn them for thinking girl's aren't as physically tough, because they literally are not. They have a lower pain threshold, lower pain tolerance levels, they're ofc physically weaker(that much is so obvious that no real studies should ever be needed), can't just pee in the woods so easily, they have a slower reaction time, and special needs(though that mostly starts with puberty. As does the vast majority of these things too). So all in all, I would not condemn them, but I'd take my daughter out fishing one-on-one instead. Maybe I can't break the rules of what was perhaps essentially meant to be a "men's night out" kind of thing, but I can certainly choose to prioritize my kid. And I'd probably try and ask them to bend to rules for a kid. If she was like 13+(meaning puberty is most likely in full force), I would not try to push it. Because things would be different, and she'd have her own host of issues to potentially ruin the trip for everyone. She also might not be comfortable sleeping in a cabin with 4 grown men at that point.

This is why paternity tests should not be a question of asking. It should just be done. Or at least something either party should be free to ask for, without consulting their partner. There's no reason father's should have to take this on faith. It's not about paying or not, the difference is that she would never have to actually *RAISE* another's child unknowingly - Simply because of not being allowed to make sure. I know a good argument though: Making sure that the hospital didn't switch the baby out mistakenly. It's happened a lot more than once. The "incel" insults are ridiculous too. I definitely agree. My biggest issue with the stigma against paternity tests, is that the people with that stance rarely (if ever) offer an alternative to actually help combat the issue. It's never those people suggesting to punish people who commit paternity fraud, or to stop making men pay for kids that aren't theirs. No support is really offered to men in these situations, but men who try to protect themselves are made fun of or demonized.

Story 1: ESH. Okay hear me out, im gonna play devil's advocate for just a moment. Not even trying to understand where your friend is coming from, or the act of trying to convince him to take his significant other's word for it alone is not exactly stellar advice. Asking for a paternity test is not a direct accusation of infidelity. It is simply a fact of being certain of whether the baby is yours or not. He has a complete right to know this information. And for those saying he should simply take her word for it, let's just say this: When a woman gives birth to a baby, there is absolutely no question about whether it is hers or not. It is statistically and logically evident. When a woman has a child, her knowledge of paternity is grounded within facts and absolute certainty. Whereas for men, knowledge of paternity is expected to be grounded in nothing but faith and trust alone. This is not an equal dynamic, nor is it really fair. 100% certainty over the paternity of your child is a parental right for both a mother and a father alike. And it should be treated as such without people getting defensive. However, with that said, i do think that the friend in question is being a huge jerk as well. Because typically, agreements on a paternity test is subject discussed before even having children or giving birth. But because of the circumstances, i can see why that never happened. Furthermore, the friend in question could at least let his significant other heal from the difficult birthing process and give her some time to get her head on straight. That baby is not going anywhere. Give it a little bit of time first. There is a time and a place for everything, and he needs to give her the the time she needs before dropping this on her. Once things settle down again, he should sit her down and talk about it with her. And while doing so, he should explain that he is not accusing her of cheating, just simply trying to exercise his right as a parent, and explain how he wants to be on an equal basis as her in terms of paternity knowledge.

Story 3: YTA. about paying 50% for the gift that a kid asks for. It's not 50 percent of an xbox or a switch, its 50 percent of a CAR, for two kids, that is 1 freaking car. Also one got an Xbox and one got a new Guitar, the kids know they can ask for more expensive gifts cause those are easily 400 plus bucks a peice. Two cars arent a thing that a person can just be expected to drop out of the blue. I think asking ex to pay half is totally reasonable. (Also there is more to a car than just upfront, can mom afford to put kids on her insurance policy since they live with her? Can they afford upkeep or repairs if something happens? Are biokids responsible enough for a car? That's a lot to ask of a 17 year old)

All of the people I know that have mixed families make sure all of the gifts to the kids are of comparable value based on the ages of the kids. Naturally, the older kid's gifts are fewer in quantity but bigger in value. If you say we are going to spend $1000 value on a gift(s) for a 17-year-old, fine, then all of the kids around that age get the same value gift whether it goes towards purchasing a car or a rad total gaming set-up, etc. It also shouldn't matter if it is for her kid, she should have to match that value for his kids as well since he is doing it for her kid. So basically, the father and step-mother paid for the entire cost of a car for her kid. They should do the same for his kids as well.

Car dad story. I think he would be the asshole if he hadn't offered to pay half for each. He paid half for stepson, he offered to pay half for bio kids. He's absolutely treating them the same and honestly, good on him for that. Ex is the asshole wanting 2 free cars instead of meeting OP half way.

No, the father and his current wife, the step-mother should pay the exact same total amount towards a car (or another gift of their choice) for his kids as well. If the father paid $2k and the step-mother paid $2k for her son's car then they both need to pay that same amount for each of his kids (age-appropriate). The ex-wife (bio-mom) of the father's kids is not an issue in this and she shouldn't even be considered since she is not a member of their family. If you don't keep the value for the gifts equally between the kids you are showing a form of favoritism.

This story was posted on another video yesterday and I lashed out on that. OP is NTA. He literally got what the kids asked for and they're not complaining about not having a car. This is about the ex being bitter that OP is turning his life around and succeeding. He's paying his _child_ support (emphasis on child) and he's doing right by them. Ex just wants a higher cashout from him.

Hey guys - Midol is great for hangover. One pill had caffeine, Tylenol and an anti-histamine. And pedialyte (for rehydration) is not just for kids. As long as your functional you are not an alcoholic.

I think a man should announce his intention to do a paternity test, NO MATTER WHAT. I’ve seen too many stories where. Man discovers he’s not the father Years and years down the line. If the wife digs in her heels and fights the issue, he should do it on the sly. I’ve read that something like a third Of babies born don’t have the father the “fathers” thought they did.

I have life360 with my boyfriend and with my best friend, on different groups. My best friend and I both commute long distances, so we have it for safety reasons. We don't pay attention to it much. Mostly if we know the other is driving really far and wanna check they are safe without making them text while driving. We also use it when we are meeting up to see if they other is on their way, how long it will take for them to get there, where they are parked. We don't use it invasively. My boyfriend and I use it partially because I commute and feel safer when there are people who know where I am. Also so we can see if the other is home or at work before bugging them. And to see how far they are from places while heading there. We use it in a noninvasive way. I would never have gotten it with my dad, even though he wanted me to, because he is snoopy and controlling. There are some people who just don't need that info.

I kinda gotta disagree on story 3- I find it remarkable that OP pulled himself out of the void. Addiction is a horrible thing and he's still learning how to be a good parent He went halves on a car and said he was willing to for the biokids, I believe him I hope things work out for him and his kids

He does seem like an idiot in it especially allowing his so-called friend to urge him to do it. However, with the large number of kids not biologically being the fathers coming to light these days because of the ease and inexpense of a home DNA kit, men are scared, some rightfully so, some not. We are talking about guys who have spent hundreds of thousands of dollars paying for someone else's kid which is essentially fraud. Some states are finally starting to take it seriously and allowing prosecution of the mothers for it.
