Quite the set up there. I just recently got my M1 MacBook Pro in and I’m in the process of redoing my desk. My Caldigit TS3 literally came in today and so now I can officially replace my late 2012 Intel i7 iMac.

A work around for the bluetooth is to turn off the wifi. That is if you are connected via Ethernet.

I also have a mac mini and caldigit ts3 plus dock. For the bluetooth stutter issues, get a usb unifier , connect the usb dongle to the USB A port on the macmini (not the ts3) and add your devices on there. Works like a charm. No stutter issues again. I use a mx master 3 mouse and keychron k2 mechanical keyboard.

I have the 16mb M1 mini. No Bluetooth issues with the Microsoft BT mouse. I do have WiFi turned off though (some say that is what interferes with it).

Nice video. Can you use a DSLR as a regular webcam as well? I’m considering getting the Mac Mini and want to figure out what webcam setup I should use.

Just saw this video so sorry if this is a bit late. I think u need to change encoders on obs for recording to record at 1080p. That solved it for me. If m1 or m2, there should be prores available and change output file to mov

Hit the same problem with OBS, I eventually gave up on OBS after a while and just switched to Ecamm. Don't regret the decision.

Same with my m1 Mac mini and my Drobo. That’s the last piece of the puzzle for the M1 Mac mini to perfectly integrate into my setup. I’m using my 2016 MacBook Pro to serve my drobo and my backblaze backup which the drobo uploads to once drobo updates to m1 i can have my drobo/backblaze go to the m1 Mac mini.

OBS works fine on a MacMini M1 (and any Apple computer) These are my settings which give me smooth video recordings - I made sure to match up Audio devices, set everything to 48Khz, including the Motu interface (I use a Scarlett Solo 2i2). In Output in Settings, using Mp4, Bitrate 5000 Kps, Recording Quality set to High Quality, Medium File size. In the Video section, I've set the same FPS value as my capture device. This setup works with a MiraBox, a cheap $20 HDMI capture device and an Elgato device. Good luck!

Hey mate, would you be able to do a proper usability and performance test for photo/video editing and compare it with some of the higher end 15/16" Macbook Pros from the last few years that loads of people are still using?

Probably not. I don’t own any other MacBooks other than a late 2013 retina model.

I'm waiting for the 16" ARM MacBook Pro and see what they're gonna do with it, but I may just eventually just go with a MacBook Air. I'm still on a 2013 15" MBPr and the most intensive thing I do is Lightroom editing and the occasional Photoshop edit, so I know even the MacBook Air is more than capable and runs laps around any Intel MacBook out there. Or I may just even go with a Mac Mini too, sell my MBP and 11" iPad Pro, and also get a newer MBP once they update it.

Question-short as I can-I have a mid-iMac 5k 2107 i7 512 16 with a 580...trade in @ Apple $1140,-getting REALLY TIRED of occasional beach balls and fans spinning-at times slow.... iMac mini M1 I want 1tb 16 $1448.00 with CARE... If I trade out of pocket price under $400-should I do this?? Have a Tuesday appt...only thing is I am REALLY used to the 5k screen...I do 4K but more 1080 both at 60...what do you think...?? Let me know thanks

Hey Danny, quick question... I'm looking into getting the new Mac mini M1. I am a photographer so I need to make sure it would be able to handle lightroom, photoshop and Luminar 4. Are you able to test yours out and give off your impressions on how it does? I'm planning on getting the one with 16GB of ram but I just want to make sure I'm not wasting my money on it.

Hey Alex, so far Lightroom and photoshop are snappy. I’ve been using the beta Photoshop and it works well, but it has bugs. Lightroom Classic through Rosetta works really well already, once a native version is out it will be better. I’ll see about luminar as I don’t use it.

Good so far. Although I would maybe wait until a non beta version of photoshop and Lightroom are out. Photoshop beta works but has some bugs still

Does the motu able to drive the podmic well? Some say that podmic is gain hungry..

I personally haven’t had issues with the gain, but I don’t have a better setup to necessarily compare one is better than another. I’m happy with it.
