I know what you’re doing is difficult. Some people just don’t know how to appreciate you, but I do. I’m a senior citizen who went natural around the pandemic. I had no idea of how to take care of my hair. Salons were closed and there were only two who did my textured hair anyhow. I was stuck in the house and didn’t know what to do. Like I said, I’m a senior citizen, but I’m also immunocompromised. I couldn’t go out if a thousand salons opened. If it hadn’t been for your videos, who knows where my hair would be. I just want to say thank you for being here. Your videos not only helped my hair, but got me through some lonely days.

I have mixed texture but I love to wash n go. I took Anthony Dickeys Method + A Love4me and tweaked it and voila, I arrived at my own method. I live in a highly hot and humid industrial city (Lagos Nigeria) so, I wash frequently because I use heavy products coupled with gunks, sweat etc. If I'm wearing wash n go, I love to detangle first with African Pride Pre Shampoo then I clarify with Kinky Come Clean and I condition with 2min Reconstructor. I add my Leave-In Styler (Camille Rose Aloe Butter Gel) and smooth and rake Wetline Gel into my hair out of the shower. I air dry (my hair dry in record time because my weather permits it), re-moisturise within the week and wash after 7 days. I don't stretch it or disturb it and if I want to restyle it, I throw it into a puff or a bun and call it a day.

@@missfabidia I'm happy to help. 1. I wash every 7 days, not 3 days 2. I use shampoo both clarifying and moisturising when needed 3. I use gels with plasticisers not curling creams because I have a mixed texture and I live in a highly hot and humid industrial city 4. I don't cover my hair with satin scarf at night because our own weather here can be extremely hot and I don't like using air conditioner to sleep.

Wash n' Go's for me is swimming against the tide. My hair is naturally a fro. A twist out is more ideal. Is it faster? Hell no. 😂 But I have a full head of hair. Also, I think some of these young ladies don't know the source of the term Wash n' Go. I've seen videos of them taking over an hour to do it. It's wash...and go. Supposed to be quick.

Agreed WNG should only take 30mins hints to why you should add it to your shower routine by the time you get out the shower everything should be done it sounds like and I could be wrong you haven't achieved maximum hydration and protein balance once your there you will know cause your hair will naturally curl and hold a curl for longer try the Anthony Dickey method if you want to live in your curls I wish you the best on your healthy hair journey

I wash my hair weekly and WNG is the only way I know how to style my 4b/4c highlighted hair. I like to keep a simple routine with a single product (it can be just leave in, mouse or both. I use the gel more for my edges). Every 15 days I alternate between a hydrating mask or a protein mask. BTW, the Aphogee pro vitamin leave in conditioner (that you recommended) is gold!!!..I love it and use it to refresh my curls EVERY SINGLE DAY ❤

Same, I have been doing wash n go's for 1 year now and I absolutely love it. I get no single strand nots, no matting. I do it once a week. Wash, deep condition and use 1 styling product on my hair. I do not have to force a curl at all. I have 4b hair and it's fine. I do absolutely understand that some folks hair do not like wash n go's. We should all do what's best for our hair. It's all about figuring out what works for each individual.

I do my wash and go in the summer when the weather is less severe in London, England. I literally use leave-in conditioner and walk outside with my towel-dried hair. Lol! All this raking and shaking and shingling and multiple products was never for me. I just do not care about definition that much to spend all that time defining a wash and go in the shower wet with water in my eyes and product going down my back...no thanks. Lol! My thing is, what’s so wrong about a wash and fro? I’ve never understood that. It’s simple, quick and takes way less product. To me it’s not so much the style itself being bad, but more so how people perceive themselves. A fro (or any semblance of it) shouldn’t make one feel unkempt when 1)that’s how it grows out of your head and 2) you DID put in the work to care for your hair-which doesn’t have to be some long drawn out process. We need to let go of ‘done’ looking the same for everyone within the space of natural hair, and one version somehow being better than the other. Allow the coexistence.

I so agree with you. I have worn an fro (short) since I went back natural...just like in the 70s. I am too lazy for all that curl defining...lol. I just wash, condition, leave in and moisturizer and pick out. I love my hair. It never tangles either. I shower without a shower cap everyday and it stays moisturizer till I wash it (every 3-4 days). Easy, peasy.

I love wash and goes, because with the right products, I can redo it with just water. It takes less time than twistout, and if I accidentally fall asleep without my bonnet, I don’t have to worry about my whole style being ruined, because I can just redo it with water. I stopped doing twist outs years ago. My hair was growing really well with very few ssks when I was stretching it but now I literally just style and go. I’m a start back stretching it again, I just haven’t found a product that behaves like the original wetline so stretching my hair doesn’t give me the results I used to have and love (non-frizzy defined coils)

I do a wash and goop because I’m lazy. I do it all in the shower. Once a week. Detangle in the shower and then goop kinky curly in two sections. Would probably look better if I took the time to do sections. I have tried twists but my curl pattern always takes over after 2 days. The wash and goop lasts about 5 days and then starts to look frizzy as the products wear out but I like the frizz too so I rock it like that. I let the style transform as the days go or put it in a bun. Hair is fine to medium and past armpits when straight. I will say Narada is right though. It does clump on its own and I don’t put a ton of stuff in it. Type 4 hair no split ends. Trim 3 times a year.

I'm kinda sad rn cause i feel the most confident with wash and go's and it's the only style that somewhat work on my 3c/4a, low to medium density, fine to medium hair strands 😭. Braid outs and twist outs can be kinda see trough and i have to pick the hell out of it just to look like i have some hair on my head 😂. Other more condensed styles such as braids or twists (w/ no added hair) are great when i need a break. But ultimately my goal is to enjoy wearing my hair out MOST of the time, that's kinda the whole reason why i'm natural 🤷🏾‍♀️. I will say though i think i could be a "good candidate" for wash and go's as my hair does get defined a bit on its own even when i'm just shampooing or conditioning. I never have to use more than 2 products and i never have to "force" my hair into a curl pattern, it just does and i try to "capture" it. So when i'm ready i will to try to experiment with the following routine : - (pre detangle if needed) - moisturizing shampoo weekly - balancing deep conditioner weekly (w/ heat) - curl defining cream - hair oil - then hair gel. Let me know what y'all think. (And sorry for all the long ahh comment😅)

As for the everyday maintenance I haven't found something that allows me to literally just 'shake and go", there's always some kind of manipulation (not a lot but still). I need to work on that 😅. Any tips ? My hair is about armpit length, it is too short for the pineapple method and it can get over stretched and look stringy VERY easily.

Or you can try a one product WNG. Find a cream with hold like a cream gel. I like to use hair rules curly whip. African pride also has a cream gel. I haven't tried it for a WNG, but I loved it for my twistout. I refresh with the hair rules finishing hydrating balm mid week, and I'm in a very hot and humid city, Dallas Tx

@@lashundavis4231 ooh I didn't think of that, thanks ! I guess what worries me about using a cream gel as one and done is that it might not last me a full week. I don't like to refresh, I like to style once and that's it. I will still look into the products you recommended tho! Btw have you tried the Eden body works coconut shea curl cream ?

@sonoxi1756 My WNG lasts 7 to 10 days, and I don't mean restyle when I say refresh. Maybe I'm wording it wrong. I just add moisture to the ends by rubbing the product in my hands and scrunch into the ends. No, I haven't tried that product.

Wash n gos aren’t meant for my hair either. I’m going to stick with medium two strand twist and low manipulation hairstyles from now on especially while I’m getting my hair to grow out the damage and get back to healthy hair with length

Wash n' go is only for certain hairtypes. Majority of black women do not benefit from this style. It's yet another concept borrowed from nonblack people

2 questions please What are your thoughts on texture release as lots of women here in London are getting this over keratin. Also please your thoughts on henna as a hair colour for greys. Thanksss🤩🫶🏽
