I love the realness of your videos Ami! I don't even like watching channels that have the pristine clean and empty kitchens, all the fancy uniform glass bowls... It's just not real life, it doesn't feel like it's for me. Picky bits is a great way to try to stretch your dollars too between paychecks which is what I'm trying to do these days. A no rules mindset helps, just trying to eat well as I can.

For 2 years I've been making smoothie from carrots, broccoli, kale and red cabbage with a bit of fruit. I never put milk in I just use chickpeas or white beans. It does taste very good

So many good points Ami, to be healthy and building muscle is my priority as well at a sweet age of 60! The truth of the matter is the shape of my body has changed since few years ago and at the time I was few kilos lighter and slimmer around the waist and had no weight issues, but now I can see my body is changing though I am still WFPB, but my focus is on being healthy and building muscle , and upping my protein intake. Great chats and great fun recipes.👏 I am about to pour your Valentines ebook now 🥰

I start nearly every day with a green smoothie. Love persimon as a fruit in there, pit some tumeric, pepper, ginger in there and some almonds of ceshews for beter absortion, greens wat have to be used and soyamilk

I love the chaos and how real you are. It makes you so relatable. I am also working on building muscle and staying as whole food plant based as possible but needing to add in the protein - I'm adding some plain pea protein to my breakfast to give the protein a boost and it makes me feel so much stronger :)

Amy I love getting a continual dose of your videos. A couple of things on my mind I've wanted to mention to you. First I would love to send you a couple of my favorite spatulas, Betty Crocker brand (they are red). They are from the dollar store, so very inexpensive but the thing that makes them so great is that they are super pliable and east to scrape out everything from a bowl. The other thing is I've wanted to mention how I take 5 lbs. off every 3 months. In the next three months I put it back on but love taking it off in 5-7 days. (Hope that makes sense). It's a version of Valter Longo's, Fasting Mimicking Diet. Of course I did'nt want to spend the aprox. $200 per kit from him, so I studied the videos of people telling what was in the kit as far as fat, protein, calories, etc...I came up with a fasting mimicking diet that is aprox. 500 calories a day that I eat. It has worked beautifully for me and very doable if you already eat plant-based. I always love to give my body the chance to think it is fasting which gives your body time to repair anything it wants or needs to. :). Anyway, I am not a doctor but do have a certificate in Plant-based Nutrition, from the T. Colin Campbell Center for Nutrition Studies, which I received back in 2015 and I have eaten plant-based for the last 10 years. This is what I eat each day during my fasting days.(which I do quarterly). 35 raw almonds and 3 walnuts, 12 olives, 2 cups tea (one is hibiscus tea made from dried hibiscus flowers, with 2 T. added honey for sweetness, the second tea is from Celestial Seasonings, called Bengal Spice, and I add NO honey to this one.) Next is 2 cups of veggie soup a day. (Recipe will follow). Plus I usually drink about 1 and 1/2- 2 liters of water per day. I found I like to eat these things in a certain order but anyone could decide how they want to do it. Recipe for soup...4 cans fire roasted chopped tomato's, 1-15oz. can tomato sauce, 1 can mild tomato Rotel, chopped and steamed kale to equal 5 cups. Put all the tomato sauces (plus a couple squirts of ketchup and 2 cups veggie stock) in a blender until smooth, pour over steamed kale and refrigerate. (Use up during your fasting window)...Hope you find this informative but please **delete this post if you think not appropriate. Just bought your book 😁 I know this will be a game changer for me so I can get off the processed snacks. Ami I struggle with night binge eating. Once I start eating (around 2pm) it’s all over. I can’t stop and never feel full or satisfied. Can you talk about this in an upcoming video? Tips you have to get past the restrict binge cycle? I tried eating during the day but still binge out on snacks come nightfall

@@ELLIESHAY I would start with half a cup then have more if you’re still getting hungry too soon after. If you are unable to tolerate them straight away you should start with less and keep adding more slowly until your gut gets used to them. Ensure you soak beans and dont have the water at first as the ‘aquafaba’ is the root for discomfort . I like to throw chickpeas in my salads and onto my cooked veggies as I find them most satiating. You can also throw them into a smoothie.

When it freezes there might be a hump in the middle. You want to scrape it so that it's fairly level. That way the blade coming down is cutting the surface evenly and doesn't get out of whack.
