In case you guys don’t check comments. I wanted to give you all (the whole team from zookeepers, to filming and editing for uploading these episodes (including Sir David Attenborough). I watch these to get through my massive ptsd moments, it has also been extremely healing for me during my second knee replacement I had done a months ago. For others John Downer productions (they make the animatronics that are sent into the wild to watch and learn from animals), susan bird is another great channel, she tailers her uploads for all of us, but her calm nature and swimming freely with humpbacks, mostly super whales, dolphins and rays (she also gives great info, like not touching stingrays as friendly as they are, as their skin is like a very soft rubber, it takes forever to heal and can break the skin easily with your nails). Watching Captain Dana’s boat tour, he also uses drones and under water cams to see ocean wildlife’s daily life. EVnautilus ,nis a great channel, soothing and also gives hope to mankind doing right when they revisited places that at one point was over fished and thousand year old deep sea corals destroyed my mapping the ocean floor and trolling the sea floor for fish and you see how a few years of not fishing, how absolutely abundant the seas are and how rejuvenating they can be and quickly as well.. Not to mention the ever awesomeness of Sir David Attenborough own documentaries, 1 of my favourites is a 2 parter and it is how all life both flora and fauna started on earth, more than 3.8 BILLION YEARS AGO,❤️! Again a great big thank you from Canada

It's very unfortunate that it took 2 years for the zookeeper's to take action to diagnose this little guy. It's quite obvious that they suspected something was wrong with him for quite a while before finally running the proper tests. His stunted growth should have prompted a simple blood test to look for thyroid deficiencies. It's what a pediatrician would have done for a human infant and it wouldn't have taken 2 years of observation to determine the need for such a test.

Yes it sounds odd that the Chester zoo website says that the baby orangutan had been "under the expert care....for a number of years" and it took them about that long to diagnose low thyroid. Also the website doesn't mention Tripa's age and date of euthanization.

@@absoleet I sent the Zoo Administration an email and they responded by restating the "expert care" mumbojumbo. I replied back by telling them they were either not comprehending my point of contention or they're being deliberately obtuse in addressing the obvious negligent treatment of that beautiful primate. Orangutans are sentient beings who deserve the same treatment and protections against medical malpractice as humans. The treatment he received does not meet any established standard of care and the primary caregivers must be held accountable for the obvious substandard care given to Trippa.

The loss of Tripa is therefore devastating news to all of those who have looked after him since his birth at the zoo in October 2012. As well as being a successful part of the European endangered breeding programme for the species, Chester Zoo’s conservationists are also working in South East Asia where they are helping field workers in Sumatra to restore forest in which orangutans live.

So the animal was half the size the it should have been, was weak and frail and lethargic. So after years they FINALLY checked him out phyically, but not before his thyoid problem damaged is heart. They then try to end this video as a feel good story. It's not. It is a tale of neglect and incompetent. By the way, he still looks sick.

"trips" wouldn't have lasted long in the wild due to weak genes and so forth. he actually a terrible candidate for the progress of the orangutan species. there's gonna be more problems later down the line.

I agree in the wild he would have probably died even sooner. It seems that as well as being physically under developed he was also a bit slow in mental development

Maybe now with the thyroid hormone replacement therapy, he will start getting some hair growth back!!! Holy Moly! The poor little guy is practically bald! That should have been one of their FIRST clues he had a thyroid deficiency! Hair loss is a MAJOR symptom of a thyroid problem…

Ultimately, It is best that the animal is now gone and out of reach of the cruel, negligent and uncaring "zoo keepers" and "vets" that were just exploiting it for money and attention. The poor animal was obviously being denied medical care just so that these videos could be made and so that more donations could be received. Truly disgusting and disgraceful, just like YOUR continued support of poachers and animal abusers.

More humans are dying , so leave these stupid apes and spend your life to save humans. It's shame to see humans rushing to save ugly stupid apes, which are extremely ferocious and dangerous for humans.
@chloeshann81422 жыл бұрын
No, these animals aren't ferocious. No one benefits from a species going extinct. Your fake concern for others doesn't make your illogical hatred for these animals seem justified. You are just ignorant and hateful

My sentiments exactly. It irritates me to see this disproportionate moral compass aka stupidity. ❤

In all fairness, the only stupid species here are humans. Our greed hurts others, even our own kind lol. You seem to be close minded

IN THE WILD, TRIPPER WOULD STILL BE WITH HIS MOTHER AND WOULD NOT HAVE A BABY SIBLING. HE WOULD BE WITH HIS MOM UNTIL 7 OR 8. WHAT YOU GUYS ARE DOING IS NOT NATURAL AND i WOULD SAY IMMORAL. TRIPPER IS ONLY FOUR YEARS OLD!!
