Thank you for the kind words! It's always nice to hear that people find these videos useful. I've never had to take off the "cover under". It sounds like you are on the right track. Just keep moving slowly and checking for screws and tabs. Sorry I can't be of more help on this.

I do. It's been 4 years and it has about 7,000 miles on it. It's been great--no mechanical problem at all.

I think it is a good idea after shooting the phoging oil in the cylinder and once you have replaced the spark plug to push down on your kick starter until you begin to feel the compression stroke that way both valves will be closed and your cylinder will be sealed from any moisture gitting in.
@nd1996mn11 жыл бұрын
Good question. I've seen it done both ways. I had one motorcycle that would end up with a stuck float and valve if it was drained, so I left that carb full of stabilized gas and never had problems with it.

Thanks! I'm sort of doing these as I work on my own scooter. Glad some people are finding them helpful.

@Menian Lee That will work if you can get all the gas out (so it doesn't evaporate and leave varnish or other gunk) and can keep the tank dry. The reason I fill it is to minimize air space since the air contains moisture. That moisture can condense (inside the tank) with temperature changes and cause the tank to rust.
@nd1996mn14 жыл бұрын
@MrTbj123 You can put them both in at once. Usually they have a vacuum operated valve pretty close to the tank so no gas flows out unless the engine is running. So, if you do have any water in there, it should be confined to the tank or tubing upstream of that valve. So, by just filling the tank you should be fine.

@vebkirker Hi. Thanks for the tip! I didn't think about that, but you're right--it will help keep moisture out and the fogging oil in. Thanks for the comment, and happy riding!

@Rockysbeats Hi. Congrats on the new scoot--I'm sure you'll love it! If it's going to be in an unheated space, I would take the battery out (the cold is hard on batteries). And yes, definitely stabilize the gas (you want to do that anytime the scoot is going to sit for an extended period--even if it's warm out). As far as heating the shed, you probably won't need to. My scoot sits in an unheated garage all winter and it's been fine just following the procedure in the video.

Hi. Yes, the spark plug does matter. Different ones are different sizes and have different resistances. However it's not a special Kymco only plug. There will be a code printed on the plug--usually in blue or brown text on the white ceramic part of the plug. Bring that code to any auto parts store and they can match it. If in doubt, bring in the plug itself and they'll match it for you.

Super video! It is very clear, well explained. And above all a great scooter. i hope you will post more video's. :)

One reason to leave the tank full of stabilized gas is to prevent rust. If the tank is empty, the moisture in the air can condense on the tank walls, especially in the cold. This can accelerate rusting of the tank. A gallon or two of gas doesn't weigh that much, so it won't make a difference to the tires (it's nothing compared to the weight of a rider).

Thanks ND: I'm going to look at the parts diagram that I used for ordering the "Cover Under" to look at the part above. Thanks!

Keeping it topped off is a good idea. I keep mine filled to the top with Stabil and when Spring arrives I take it one step further and drain that gas to put in my lawnmower and put Freshy Fresh gas in. I also disconnect battery but I leave it in the Scooter. I don’t however fog it because every couple weeks I start the engine up anyways.
@nd1996mn14 жыл бұрын
@MrTbj123 Hi. I would fill the tank, and maybe add a moisture absorbing additive like Heet to it. The reason to leave the tank full of gas is so that it's not full of air (containing moisture). As winter comes and the air gets colder, that moisture will condense and become water in the tank. For the spark plug, I would just take yours out and bring it to a scooter shop or auto parts store and see if they can match it. Good luck!

No, just remove the two screws holding the battery cover in place and you should be able to pry the cover off. It's certainly easier without the seat/bodywork, but it's possible w/o removing the seat/bodywork.

I've watched four of your videos on the Kymco. Great camera work and practical tips. Thanks very Much! I'm trying to replace the "Cover Under" (that's what KYMCO calls it) on my 2012 Kymco Super 8 150 . It is the very bottom black plastic piece sort of shaped like a shield. I've loosed the screws on the piece above it to try to gain access, but it is not moving. Maybe it has some tabs? I'm afraid to pull too much on it. Any tips? Do you have a video of this procedure? THANKS!

Hello, I was happy to find this video because of how well it explains... but I have a question, they tried to steal my Kymco super 8 125cc scooter and they broke my ignition and I don't know how to remove the plastics to change it, could you explain it... thank you please
@nd1996mn7 ай бұрын
Oh no! I’m sorry to hear that. Unfortunately I have sold my scooter so I can’t reference it to tell you. It’s hard to tell w/o knowing what they did to try to steal it. As I recall there was a starter motor bolted onto the engine and a relay switch for it under the seat (you have to take the tub out). You could try checking those things to make sure they are working along with the switch on the handlebars and the key assembly to make sure power is getting through. If you can tell it has power when the key is turned then that part is ok and I would look at the switch and relay. Just take it one part at a time and try to rule it in/out as the problem. Hope that helps and good luck!

If you need to get into the handlebar area mostly it is screwed together and is accessible through the front panels. Looks for small black screws-there are several-and start gently trying to pry off. You may be able to find the service manual online that will tell you how to take it fully off b

Can you help me with a question? I am putting my 2009 Super 8 150 back together and need help with the ground cable coming from the battery. The cable is green from battery to frame, then there is a black wire with eyelet. What does that attach too?? Any help would be appreciated.
@nd1996mn9 жыл бұрын
Sorry, I'm not 100% sure what you are referring to but if it's at the battery, it likely just connects to the - post. If it's elsewhere, try googling "kymco super 8 wiring diagram". I'd guess it's supposed to ground somewhere. The diagram might give you a better idea of what you are dealing with.

hi, i have kymco super 8 4T. Can you help me and tell what should i do to get more speed?
@nd1996mn10 жыл бұрын
I'm sorry, but I don't have any experience modifying a super 8 for speed. You could look at different weights for the variator to change the acceleration characteristics--I have heard good things about the Dr Pulley sliding rollers but haven't tried them yet. Otherwise you would probably need a different piston and cylinder (big bore kit) to get more cc.

Hi. I’m sorry to say I don’t know much about the electrical system and it would be hard to troubleshoot without seeing it. You can find the wiring diagram online and there are articles on how to test some of the components.

Question!: Why not just empty the gasolinetank, start the moped and let it run till it dies? No need for the stabolizer that way, no?
@nd1996mn6 жыл бұрын
Samuel Yes, people do that and it can work. However, It can leave a small amount of gas in the tank and carb though which can gum up (if not stabilized) and get sucked into the jets when you run the bike next. Even draining the carb like I show leaves a small amount of gas in the bowl. Depending on where you live, condensation can form in the empty tank too from temp changes causing it to rust. I found this approach to be safest, even if maybe a little over cautious.

Can u do a video how to change cdi and spark plug please
@nd1996mn3 жыл бұрын
I’m sorry I do not have this scooter anymore so cannot make new vids on it. I remove the spark plug at about the 4:00 mark in this video so you can see how you’d replace it there. The CDI is easy-it’s next to the battery. It’s got a single connector. Just unplug the old one and remove it. Plug in the new one and snap it into the same place.

I don't see the need to do all these things, just leave it in the garage, it will survive, and maybe start it every 10 days or so for 5-10 minutes. This is a waste of time.
