it is particularly considerate of you to look up what it is called / available as in north america. I'm always impressed with what you come up with in your videos. Thank you for doing what you do.

I have a similar tool, the Triton “Superjaws”, and I love it. In fact it rarely gets put away because I use it so much. To anyone thinking of buying this tool I would say go ahead - it’s so useful that you’ll never regret it.

you should start a second channel for all the reviews of items the only thing i would have lliked to see is for the middle leg a pad you can add onto it to make the base wider for support like the front to legs are so that leg doesnt sink in while the other two cant

The one I have allows you to lock it and then push down the foot pedal. Makes it much simpler than engaging the lock while you're applying pressure on the pedal and holding the workpiece with the other hand.

Thanks. I appreciated the US shopping mention and the Imperial conversion. I work in metric where possible but it doesn’t register in me in certain ranges.

👏Thanks for another great video Jean, in the UK we have a version of this unit, its called a Triton Superjaws XXL: (Not affiliated, just for interest to UK viewers) 👍😀

Jean, I've seen lots of videos on this type of product but just about all of them have been showing the product being used for either holding firewood as its broken down or for holding logs that are being cut with a chainsaw. You did a good job of showing that the horse was very strong when holding items but it would have been good to see you showing how sturdy it was with the large piece of plywood/mdf that you used last in this video🤔. As always buddy 💯% 👍 🇬🇧.

In Australia this is sold as the 'AEG Super Clamp' from Bunnings AUD $219. Great channel by the way!
@netbootdisk6 ай бұрын
Upon purchase & closer inspection; the AEG version is actually slightly different on the leg locking mechanisms. No roller either; but the third leg has a proper 'foot'. Still a very heavy & solid unit

As someone who has used a Black & Decker workmate for the last 25 years this looks like a well thought out piece of equipment. I do have 2 suggestions: 1. Relocate the roller to the top so can have a duel purpose of being an out feed roller. 2. Use Teflon strips as glides for the moving half of the jaws. Just some spur of the moment thoughts that may still need some refining.

Looks identical to the Triton Superjaws which has been around a long time. The Kress website doesn’t have this product though. When looking for a supplier, they say Kress tools are only available at Total Tools. The Total Tools SA website doesn’t have any Kress tools listed 🤷🏼♂️

All versions of this tool emanate from the 1992 original patented Triton Superjaws, designed & manufactured by them when they were an Australian company. It doesn't really matter which version you have though, as they really are a versatile & flexible bit of kit for everyone from DIYers to Professional tradies. Had my old version for years, clunky & awkward, but so handy.

Great video! In the UK, we had two of these in our workshop back in the mid-1990s. They were made by Elu. Elu doesn't exist anymore. I think they were bought up by Black & Decker. Maybe the patent was sold?
@brendandouglas-henry9057 ай бұрын
You are going to enjoy that, I had the original super jaws from Triton, I guess the patent must have run out, I bought it at Hardware Centre JHB when I lived in SA. It used to be my favourite tool, looks like they have improved the locking and opening mechanism. My question is does it come with interchangeable vice grips the triton had a log holder and a metal one that turned it into a simple anvil for metal?

The roller reminds me a lot of outfeed stand rollers. Can it be oriented to work like that?
@cernunnoskali7 ай бұрын
That would make it much more useful. I suppose a roller could be made so that it gets clamped in the jaws

slightly better than Triton Jawhorse, with roller addition. :)

I do need some work holding clamping options for my workshop. I do a lot of small work pieces as well. Any ideas? I have those squeeze grip kind of clamps, but something that I can use to hold work when using the drill press, and when cutting with power tools would be a good to have item. This clamping workhorse would be excellent as well, but I think I need a bench vise first... I might get one of those.
