I always thought he was singing about a special woman with a heart of gold.

Neil Young is a timeless musician. His lyrics are always powerful and thought evoking. Check out "Old Man", it's one of his classics. Thanks for you reactions, always a pleasure.

Neil Young is setting up to play 'Old Man.' It will give you a window to the decency of this beautiful person. Musician. Story teller. Social justice warrior.

Neil Young was born in Toronto, but grew up in my home town of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada and started his career here. I have loved all his music.🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦

It's funny that you bring up Curt Cobain and MTV Unplugged. Neil Young, sometimes referred to as the "Godfather of Grunge" because of his influence on that genre, also recorded an MTV Unplugged show in 1993, the same year as Nirvana. Cobain's suicide note contained a lyric from Neil Young song My My, Hey Hey

I love this intimate performance in 1971 with just Neil, his guitar & harmonica. He also did the song "Old Man" in this same performance. Please check it out too. Neil is a very talented musician, singer & songwriter. He was with the groups Buffalo Springfield & Crosby, Stills & Nash in the later 60's. Also had his own group with Crazy Horse for a few years. Neil went solo & has had so many great songs over the years. The albums "After The Gold Rush" & "Harvest" from the 70's are considered 2 of his best.

I've seen Neil 12 times in concert! He was married for many years to Pegi Young, they got divorced and she passed away shortly afterward. Kurt Cobain was a big fan and quoted a Neil Young song in his Suicide note "It's better to burn out, than fade a-way" My my, Hey hey...

I saw Neil Young & Crazy horse live on stage just three days ago and he played this tune, among so many other great songs. He’s 78 years old and still awesome!! 🔥

I used to think he was looking for a woman with a heart of gold. But now I think he seeking for a heart of gold inside of himself,

For Americans a person with a “heart of gold” is a very kind and empathetic person. This is a beautiful performance. In the studio version, Linda Ronstadt sings backing vocals. Neil is Canadian but lives most of the time in the United States these days. This particular show was in England and was broadcast on BBC. Thanks for this reaction. I’m about a year late, but I’m trying to catch up with some of your videos since I recently discovered your channel. 🌺✌️

The expression is used here in the US as well. Despite how cold hearted we are in comparison to Canadians! 🙂

Songs of that era were generally shorter, thought to play better on the radio. This is one of my favorite Neil Young songs, and I would definitely enjoy hearing a longer version. I see Old Man being recommended - another of my favorites. Always enjoy your reactions and watching the two of you interact, how nice to see a couple who genuinely care for each other.

I hate to rain on your parade but Neal Young is about as far from Mississippi as the East from the West. In fact he wrote a song called "Southern Man," in which he rails against what he perceives as the racist southern culture with their history of slavery and such. Southern rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd wrote their song "Sweet Home Alabama" in response to "Southern Man" and "Alabama" from Young's 1972 album Harvest. Feel free to react to all those songs. Love your channel by the way!

You nailed it when you said he reminds you of Kurt Kobain. Kurt was of course Grunge Rock royalty and Neil Young is considered the grandfather of Grunge.
