I noticed one odd thing: on the last line, she doesn't say they'll KILL everyone who tries to enter, only that they'll KEEP them. She also didn't actually confirm when the captain said that they'd killed others who entered. Could it be that they actually just captured some/many of them, gave them places to live in their territory or even allowed them to be uplifted too?

There are many options. From the altruistic types you mentioned, to harsh slavery, to an eternal hell like the ones in our mythologies, to other, more bizarre fates. Heck, it could be all of the above, depending on who enters and their motives and intentions.

I think they also may have not wanted to spread that fate to the other alien species, so they pretty much just secluded themselves away and avoid contact like the plauge. Buuuut of course when people enter their space they can’t just let em leave. Otherwise they’ll tell, and possibly spark the other species to do the same.

As mentioned by the humans though, only if you are truly in desperate need will we help, and even then only if you can't resist/resolve the extinction/complete racial enslavement level problem you've encountered yourself. If you are not in truly desperate need we will just keep those who entered to ask for help.

Yes but no, assuming an AI is capable to simulate your mind and memories at 99.9999999991% accuracy, down to the smallest quirk making your personality unique and way of thinking. Then all the closest people to you (even you if you wish) have a discussion with this simulation, then discern absolutely no difference at all between you both. Don't you think that simulation is as human as you can be yourself. If you think this isn't the same, just a machine with a convincingly copying your mannerisms, consider the following. You are not your brain a mere hardware, and not directly the emergent property of its neurochemistry, a.k.a intelligence a software, likes all of us and the universe we are able to perceives with our limited human senses around us, our experiencing of what we call reality, are the rendering as inputs and the interpretation as outputs from either an organic or synthetic computer(different methods same results).
