That’s so sweet that he paid for your flowers 🥺 I think the world gets a little brighter when we pay it forward. I try to do that when I can because I know how much it can mean to someone else. And it makes my heart happy too 🥰

@@emilynoel83 The colors in that Urban Decay palette are beautiful. But I have a long-standing burning question for you: Can/Should 60 and older ladies wear eyeshadows with shimmer in them? Or is it best that we stick with matte-and maybe satin-eyeshadow finishes? I am 64 with very small eyes-and hooded eyelids. I don’t want to draw attention to these issues. Nor do I want to look like I’m trying too hard to appear younger! Thank you in advance for your valuable feedback! You are my favorite beauty blogger! You have a pleasantness about you that is very calming and uplifting. 😍

Emily, thank you for sharing the story of the kind veteran. My husband is a Marine Corp vet and he seeks out Veterans at Lowe’s, Walmart, etc to thank them for their service and talk to them! Some are shocked, some tear up and some talk for an hour! He also pays and gives money to the needy in store check- out lines. I really wish more people would acknowledge the sacrifice and courage of our precious veterans! They are so deserving of special treatment!

@@LoveABun as a makeup artist and hairstylist for almost 20 years I say do what makes you happy. BUT yes shimmer will make your texture on eyes come out more and lines and wrinkles. Honestly I love Wayne Goss eye shadow palettes Because I love his shimmers on my more mature skin clients and mom. Hell I'm almost 40 with hooded eyes and I have to be careful but I'm still like shinning like a diamond because I love shimmers. But they do transfer up on my hooded eyes no matter what tricks I try. It really depends on the shimmer formula. Stick to more smooth shimmers nothing chunky and you will be fine. But if you don't want to call attention to those try the all matte looks also. Sometimes a good liquid shimmer shadow applied to the correct spot and way looks great and won't smuge in hooded eyes also.

So glad you shared the vet story. I agree 100% that we need to talk about the good things that happen. There are certainly many wonderful people around. All hope is not lost! Kind, honorable people are still out and about in force and it's good to be reminded of that.

That mascara with ball tip was absolutely the BEST mascara ever!! One night in the Emergency Dept where I work, a belligerent drunk woman asked, "Are you even a doctor? Dr. Mascara, that's who you are! Dr. Mascara!!!" The RN and I fell out laughing and it has been my nickname since!

Thank you for sharing your story, Emily! My husband had a similar situation at the grocery store last week. There are such wonderful people in this world!!

Thank you for thanking him. Vietnam vets have never gotten enough recognition. My dad lost both legs in Vietnam and he won't wear a hat advertising that he's a vet because of the way they were treated when they got back home. My dad didn't want to go, he was drafted. But he did go and paid a huge price. I thanked a Vietnam vet once and he was so touched that he shared some of his some of his story with me. It was truly awful what they had to endure. So it makes me happy to know that some people are thanking them now.

So many veterans from the Vietnam Era were treated very badly when they first came home from war in the 1960's and 1970's. Attitudes towards the military changed drastically by the time of the First Gulf War in 1990/1991. These veterans were honored and celebrated, both when they deployed and when they returned home. Many Vietnam Vets seemed to feel left out at the time. I often heard vets say, "Nobody threw ME a parade when I got home!" As a veteran who served in the Marines during (mostly) peacetime, from 1980-1988, I can tell you that the fact that you reached out and thanked this man for his service really meant a lot to him. As much as his kindness in paying for your flowers touched your heart, your kindness towards him touched his soul. Thank you for your kindness to one of my brothers.

My Daddy passed away from pancreatic cancer on 5/1/2022. He was a school bus driver, but he had an amazing impact on his kids! He was a retired coal miner, and had a heart transplant in 2016, and went back to work, and decided to drive a school bus. I cannot tell you the kids who came to his visitation! At the 8th grade graduation one of the girls had his picture and the phrase “this one’s for you” on her graduation cap! The school also had a balloon release in his honor after we buried him! He was an amazing man and so many people loved him. I’ll miss him til the day I die. My heart is shattered and it takes my breath, but I know how loved he was! There are many good people out there!

Love hearing “feel good” stories from real people about real people. It soothes the soul and naturally make the tears swells, (grabbing tissue as I write). But sincerely, I am grateful to have heard you recount this kind act along with sharing your thoughts on how it’s positively impacted all of you there. I especially admire how your children naturally showed their own appreciation. My professional nanny opinion: Unprompted “thank you’s” from little ones speaks volumes about the positive way they are being raised! (Thank you for passing on your wonderfully loving philosophy of life to those three beautiful children!!❤️)

Loved the story you shared about the veteran. I have three sons all teen agers now but when they were small I would thank veterans for their service (still do) and they saw me do this. At a young age they started doing it without me even directing them and it warms my heart to see it. One time we were at a Starbucks and there was an active duty guy in line behind us and my son whispered "mom, you should buy his coffee". When I see my sons live out the kindness to others which I diligently taught them in their youth it makes so proud. So, your kids will remember that man and I just bet that at some point they will pay forward what he did for you guys and girl...that's what it's all about. Love you Em...and love your family. Best wishes.

We can’t always know how our actions, good and sometimes bad, may affect someone for years. A simple thank you to a someone working in retail may lighten the load from a previous negative encounter. Compliments to a stranger may be a minute in your day, but may have a long reaching affect in the recipient. I still remember the dazzling smile and happy tunes the garbage man had when I was only 5 years old ( I am 65 now) all these years later he inspires me to lighten my step a bit, hum a happy tune and count my blessings. My husband and myself bought a brand new Corvette C8 last year and the crazy amount of compliments and "I LOVE YOUR CAR!!" shouted from other drivers may seem like an odd "Kind Moments", but they are kind and fun!! We have enjoyed the excitement from other people almost as much as the sports car. Sorry Emily, but the media is a huge part of the "problems" people perceive to be happening in our wonderful country is in part because of the media. Hearing news about all of the amazing things people do for each other just does not make the news. Can you imagine a whole hour news segment devoted just to positive and kind things people do for each other or animals? That just would never happen. What you just did was one small way of showing the everyday kindness that does exist in our world. That's how it should work. If every one who is going to comment in this thread today were to share a similar story that they have experienced recently, that would start such a positive space. It would be so wonderful and I pray that can happen!!!

We feel it's heartwarming and remarkable, but that's because the days of being friendly, of sharing smiles and making a generous gesture are so rare now. The Elf Tan Line Bronzer I think is such a great product and shade for fair to medium skin tones if you want a great cream product that blends beautifully and lasts all day while looking for natural, not red, not orange like so many bronzers are but the perfect tone to give you that natural shadow and warmth and a little goes a very long way. I would compare it to the Huda beauty cream bronzer everyone loves so much. Have you tried the Physicians Formula stick concealer, it’s been around forever, Emily? It is so creamy (but not too creamy where it melts in a purse, but isn’t dry like so many stick concealers are, like Revlon Colorstay is) has great coverage, perfect formula and staying power, but still seriously lacks color options, but it would work for you and it is bomb, hidden gem for sure. And their Instaready concealer is also a gem people totally forgot about for a very full coverage concealer that stays in all weather or temps, works great for driest of dry under eye to more oily under eyes and doesn’t get crapey, fantastic for more mature skin because it blends in so well while looking like skin.

You made me cry with the story about the Veteran paying for your flowers - your family was a blessing to him and he wanted to thank you for that - so beautiful. 🤍🤍🤍 Thanks for sharing that, it helps me too.

Love the Mario product. I bought mine and used it today for the first time. I used it on my forehead, cheeks, across the nose, around the jawline, and down the neck.. loved the warmth it provided. Beautiful product

So nice that Benefit sent you their new blushes. I can't wait to hear more about them. I like the box packaging for the environment and to tap off my brush, very convenient. The story of the Vet paying for your flowers was so sweet and how the kids responded. You are raising your kids very well, for their caring and thankfullness was on full display. Thanks for the run-down on all of the products. :)

I love the Danessa Myricks blurring balm. I live in Florida and it lasts so well for me. When it starts to wear off, it wears off so beautifully.

Totally agree that all of us need to be kind and spread positivity, the world would definitely be a better place if more people followed that gentleman’s example xx

My husband is an active duty Marine, and I was having a HARD day at the grocery store when my daughter was ~6 months old. She had food allergies and reflux, and was just always a colicky baby. Taking her out alone was so overwhelming for me, but my husband was away so, had to be done. I was juggling her being fussy and waiting in a long line at the grocery store, when the man behind me started to make small talk with me-and I won’t lie, at first I was annoyed. Like, can’t he see I’m trying to do my best with this fussy baby and not piss off the whole store with her crying? But he was really sweet and chatted over her cries. He told me he had been in the army and I was a living reminder that he never truly appreciated all the ways his wife had to step up for their family while he was gone. That alone was encouraging, just to be recognized, but he then paid for my $100 worth of groceries. I was a complete mess after that and asked how I could repay him, and he told me to keep loving my family and showing up for them. It was such a blessing ❤️

I love seeing that Mario product all over the skin as most people have been using it just as a bronzer and I did think it would be a more all over product based on the description. What a wonderful story. Being kind to someone and having a conversation with them, please remember this could have been the only conversation he had with someone all day and could have made a huge difference to him. How wonderful he bought your flowers x
