Really sad there won't be a full review of the OnePlus 12 by Marques. This phone will probably be one of the best phones of the year, or at least top 3, and it's definitely the best OnePlus in recent history. It beat the first day sales of the OnePlus 11 by 212%, which just goes to show how many eyes are on OnePlus right now. I think it would be a great video not just for OnePlus fans but for Marques aswell as there are a lot of people that would tune up to see what Marques has to say about it. Maybe next year?
@toptiertech729110 ай бұрын
212% is a great increase. How many sales did they have last year? Because 212,000 is 212% more than 100,000. So that’s not actually super impressive. It also can’t be top 3 because the cameras are awful compared to the 24 Ultra, 16 pro max and Pixel 9 pro
@joshuamarkusmarkwood10 ай бұрын
@@toptiertech7291 Well the Oneplus 11 had the best day one sales of any Snapdragon 8 gen 2 (granted this was before the release of the Samsung S23 Ultra), but I highly doubt it was as low as you're saying. And it can absolutely be top 3, all those phones are 1000$+ phones, and the Oneplus 12 beats them on the spec sheet while costing 799$. And that's before the many benefits, discounts and coupons. Also, phones are not just cameras, and even if they were, I don't know which reviews you've been looking at but Oneplus is not awful compared to any of those. If the S24 Ultra is a 10/10, the Oneplus 12 is an 8/10 easily.

I’m also a calendar and todo app obsessive, yet I almost never try to replace Google Calendar. I have everything color coded and organized there and I actually like how it looks. And I am definitely the sort of person who makes an all day event for something. Like I’ll set a recurring all day event until a show that comes out weekly like True Detective has finished. Or I’ll set an event for a book I’m looking forward to that comes out on a certain day. And I always stay in the month view because I can see everything going on from a high level. The color coding for each event type is really key. But I do not do anything work related in Google Calendar-all of that is in Outlook. I can imagine having both of these things together would get very messy. But for everything outside of work, I feel like I have a great system.

Can you please show the differences and advantages of Circle to Search compared to Google Assistant Screen Search? @lulushishi10 ай бұрын
@@toptiertech7291agreed. And it is quite disappointing to see tech channels not calling Samsung and Google out for it. Instead, most people I've seen are praising these features as if they are never before seen. Many also fail to point out the fact that the AI suite is a trial and will require a paid subscription in 2025
@lulushishi10 ай бұрын
@@mr0sparkles4682yes. From what I can tell in my testing, Google made now on tap in 2018, then transitioned to assistant screen search in 2022, and now they are mass marketing it again as circle to search as if its a new feature. I hope Marques notices this comment and gives each a test to truly see how "new" this feature is. because it is quite disappointing to see so many tech channels fall for Samsung and Google's marketing, especially when they should be the ones who are more informed on these features.

One of the biggest if not the biggest benefit of better/newer screens is (or should be?) the lower power consumption, but this only works well when we can control the (auto) brightness better. Because new screens use less power at the same brightness as older, and if you are outside, lets say at about 900 nits, and compare different Screens, theres a big difference in power consumption (maybe one uses 2.5w and the other one 4, which is alot.)

@MaximoJoshua10 ай бұрын
but don't you usually say that 90% of people watch this on their phone? almost all mid to high end phones support HDR as a display option. I personally think that everyone should just upload to youtube in HDR (HLG Rec2100). KZbin will create the SDR version if they don't have a compatible display (or are using Safari), but if you do have a mac book pro, or an OLED tv, or an iPhone or Pixel or Samsung, you can see more dynamic range and a twice as wide color gamut. At what point do people stop supporting SDR? My main point here is that the actual number of HDR ready consumers of content might be a lot higher than people think. Oh, and also HLG was built to be displayed on SDR or HDR displays, its hybrid log gamma. So, for me, rather than export for 2 different displays (for video at least). I would rather just export everything to HLG.

On the subject of HDR content in Instagram I agree. However ever since I experienced it on my Pixel 8 Pro with photos and videos I have to say it looks amazing. It adds a layer of realism to pictures and videos. For example, I recently took a picture of my car with the headlights on during the day. The way it's displayed on screen makes the headlights much brighter and way more realistic. Same thing with a recent video at night while BBQing. The flames looked incredible in the video. I think it's a matter of implementation that's holding it back. In Instagram, HDR video looks bad as it seems to brighten the entire video and not just the highlights (or things that should be that bright in the video). In Google Photos I think it looks amazing.

Here's my view on the Pixel 9 camera bar redesign: it will be good for Pixel visibility in the wild because most people use cases. Case manufacturers didn't know how to handle the camera bar, so they all designed the cutout differently. This will help unify the designs which will in turn make it more recognizable. I wish all cases left the visor completely uncovered but almost none do.

Next Friday February 2nd 2024 is when the VisionPro is released, so I'm expecting that to make up part of the busy week at The Studio!

The HDR issue that is being complained about is not about HDR. It is about how the phones are not respecting your brightness settings. HDR does not mean 'super bright!'. Means the image can have higher brightness parts of an image but the average brightness could be the same as the SDR. You aren't getting blasted by the SDR one because the phone is respecting your current dimmed brightness settings for those but not for HDR.
