I went to Ranger School in 1992... it was 52 push-ups, 62 sit-ups, and a 2-mile run in 13:53. Not, really too different now. I do remember that the instructors would stop you at the requirement. i.e. 52 push-ups then ordered to stand. Great channel.

I recommend that if this is something you might be interested in trying: -get to know as many Ranger NCOs or cousins or friends of infantry NCOs as you can - and through that network get information about what the course is like now. because it is always changing. and through the right network, you can get some good tips -don't drink alcohol and eat right. I see way too many young kids who work out a lot, but also drink a lot. -get your testosterone up as much as you can -try to get at or near the front of the line for every pre-entry test - if you can. if they have too many students, they can just cut off the test and ask you to wait for the next class don't listen to me.

Everytime some higher up wants to change a PFA, they should lose their tab/badge and will have to retake the course in order to wear it again. RPFA is just a gate event it doesn't translate to the rest of the school. The EIB pt test when I first joined was 210 APFT 70% EA in the 17-21 age group then 80% with a 32min 4 mile later on.

I’m going into the first class of 2025, I went to 75th RR’s SURT in November and we did a diagnostic of this new rpa and the cadre told us there will be no time standard. Instead, the bottom 18%times will be dropped and fail rap week and there’s no kit and helmet

Yeah makes no sense to make the PT test harder when it’s just a gateway test the current test is fine. I can see just changing the push ups to T push ups and sit-ups to the plank but increasing the mileage and a smoke session prior is just overkill

You classing up with Class 05-25 in February? Or starting PRC/SURT?
I think the Army is forgetting more and more that ranger school is a “SCHOOL” and not a selection course I’m not saying they should make it easier but it’s original mission is to train soldiers on leadership and expertise on small unit tactics and the more we gatekeep soldiers from learning these skills the less amount of that knowledge can be brought back to their units

It's a Leadership Course that sets a standard to bear for the Army that will be emulated throughout the Combat Arms forces. We should be constantly lifting the bar incrementally, not thinking about catering to non-performers who aren't willing to reach beyond themselves. We're counting on Ranger School graduates to return to their units and leading the way.

Man... what is the point of all this? Just leave the initial PT test alone and add this into RAP week as another go/no go event.

Be glad I'm not in charge if you're weak. I would make something like SFAS a gateway for all dismounted combat arms, namely: 11B 11C Combat Engineers 13F/FOs Combat Medics Would come with a different monthly Pro Pay bonus since dismounts get bent regularly in many ways. Then AIT for dismounted combat arms would be multiple skill set trained, with much higher standards for: PT Marksmanship Commo TCCC Mobility Low Observability Night Operations Methods of Insertion Marksmanship categories would measure and reward talent in: BRM CQM Machinegunnery DM Anti-Armor Weapons Additional Skills would include Recon, breaching, driving, K-9 handler, and natural leaders would attend a Team Leader course run by experienced veterans. Send a squared away product to the force, not guys who just got run through check-in-the-block finger drill pickle machine.

Idk. Ranger School just doesn't seem to nail some key things. Like they eliminated desert even though we had 20 years in the desert, then the Urban course kind of seems like a joke when you compare it to Fallujah, Ramadi etc. Talked to several Ranger Tabbed older guys and they've all stated Ranger School meant jack shit in Ramandi in 2007. I think it's time the Army drops Ranger School and creates something else. Even during the Vietnam War, they created Recondo School because Ranger School wasn't cutting it for small unit tactics on an actual small unit scale of 4-8 members. But I digress.... Airborne has gotten easier, Ranger School has 2 different standards for Male & Females, which makes zero sense for actual combat operations Combat Arms also has 2 different standards for a PT test. The next big war will not be like GWOT, people need to look at the Battle of Chosin, Battle of Heu City. It's gonna get real and real fast if we gotta fight North Korea or China. Gonna be fighting an enemy that doesn't care if you have "Superior fire power" in the words of a Marine at Chosin, "They just kept coming" We didn't win that war either, just a stalemate. Sorry if this was long😂😢

Ranger school has two standards for gender? I’m not necessarily 100% disagreeing but I went through a pre Ranger and Ranger with a female battle buddy. She was treated the same for all the gated events in both from what I saw. Now when it came to patrols, I’m not sure since that’s more personal one on one with the RIs

Perhaps it's just me. I went through Ranger school in 1993. Was already at 2/75 for about 2 years before being sent. With that being said, I agree with you that Ranger "school" didn't mean jack when we were on missions in Afghanistan or Iraq. I will say that it made a difference when it came to my career in battalion or at Regiment. But that's a career thing. I am not worried about north Korea. Looks like most of them will be gone or in Ukraine. China is definitely an issue. However, they have the numbers, but we have the experience in actual combat for the past 20+ years. We both know that the first time the rounds start flying, the numbers don't mean much when half of them freeze up. In my opinion, China doesn't have the heart. Or at least many of them don't. I could be wrong, it would not be the first time. I can say that I am glad that after 21 years and multiple tours in the middle east and Africa, I retired and don't have to deal with it anymore. I do worry about our current military status. I worry about my Ranger brothers. Hopefully, with this new administration we won't be sending our military anywhere any time soon. I do want to thank you for for you service and your sacrifice. RLTW.

People in their miniscule little lane within a tiny % of limited combat power in the Army don't have any role in FSCO or MDO. That's mainly USAF, USN, and Space Force territory. Dismounted Infantry units only come into play in COIN. Look at what role dismounted infantry played in Desert Storm. If we were to do Desert Storm today, it would go down much faster due to how brutal and compressed the kill chain is. Fomer 11B just calling balls & strikes.
