He def does. Nothing more annoying than being indecisive and not having someone push you in a direction, otherwise that kind of person will 100% walk out with nothing n probably never come back, due to being mentally overwhelmed with the massive options. The only way, for me, they can make this any better. Would simply be with the mto process. If ur newbie, itd be cool af to be able to build you boots, in a similar fashion to building you car online. If i add this, i can see the change. If I add that, I can see the change and so on. That would both separate this company from every other, and also aloow them to let other companies (for a huge price) utilize their proprietary framework built for this process.

@@koala4dictator mine sized 1/2 below what I would wear in a mass produced work boot. Also I've been told to take Brannock sizes while standing as each persons foot flattens out to different degrees while bearing weight, lengthening their foot more than when not bearing.

These are very nice boots. I am sure that you will enjoy them for years to come. But, I will never buy a pair. The fitting process for online purchases is too haphazard. The vast majority of us do not have the luxury of being able to visit a store to get measured and fitted. When you ask customer service what are the differences. They always say the company mantra, “It comes down to personal preference.” I have no idea what even means in the real world. To me, it is just a magic wave of the hand. I have learned more from this one video that I have from dozens of videos Nick’s has on KZbin. Sure, you can order a pair of “try on” boots. But, they charge a hefty extra fee. It adds at least 10% to the cost, and they apparently keep it.
@GentlemansJourney2 жыл бұрын
I really appreciate you taking the time to watch the video and comment. I put a ton of work into these and glad they help out a bit. I totally know what you mean by the "comes down to preference". What the heck does that mean?? I am learning that a bunch of this stuff is trial by fire. LOL. I do feel that you can have a pretty high level of confidence getting the right fit from Nicks without using their try on boot. I agree that does add a bit of cost to an already expensive purchase. Could be worth it if you really had difficulties or concerns but I think the average Gentleman ought to turn out ok with their online size guide.

@GentlemansJourney3 жыл бұрын
From their site:If boots normally fit you, you’re in luck. Nicks Boots will fit a bit large compared to your mass-produced footwear. For a more snug fit, select a ½ size smaller than your mass-produced shoe size. Example: If you normally wear size 12D, you could order a size 11.5D in Nicks to achieve a snug fit. If you would like a little bit more room in your boots, you can order your normal boot size.
@GentlemansJourney3 жыл бұрын
I’d say that you should be pretty good going with your iron ranger size since they are more of a slimmer toe box than the redwing moctoe is. Nicks has a great return process! I’m 11.5 in Thursday’s and 11 in nicks. There is no way I could get an 11 in Thursday’s. I’m a 11.5 in redwing but my moctoe Redwing Roughnecjs are a little roomy…

I was wondering about that too. Iron rangers which I'm a size 9 and are built on the 8 last. The redwing moctoes are built on the 23 last. Hard to pinpoint if u wanna go with your redwing moc toe size or the iron ranger size.

@michaeltyler18342 жыл бұрын
The good news I can tell you is that with most of these handmade boot companies you have to size down, but standard width directly correlates to the number preceeding it. For example I wear a 14D in most tennis shoes (not including Adidas), 13D in Adidas/Cowboy Boots/Dress Shoes/Off The Shelf Work Boots, and 12.5E (if the company offers it) or 12EE in most handmade boots. These are all the same sizes called something different haha and it's OBVIOUSLY confusing... but it's even more confusing after size 12 because in most cases a 13 is to 12 what 11.5 is to 11 (the half size up) but in some cases its not? TLDR: Standard width (D) increases as you go up in size so if you have to size down for a Manufacturer it usually means that the width will increase (go up in letter value) in most cases from my experience. Either way MAKE SURE to buy high quality WOOL/Poly/Nylon/Spandex blend socks in medium thickness or heavy thickness (especially if the boot fits too loose for you) and know that a well made leather boot will shrink or stretch to fit your foot overtime. TIP: Wear a pair of quality silky texture dress socks or poly work socks under a pair of medium thickness Wool Blend socks to aid in comfort during break-in and prevent blisters (reduces friction, absorbs moisture better, and helps with fit). I recommend shopping around for best prices on good socks (which usually cost $20+++ but can be had for as low as $5 a pair or in rare occasions slightly less if you buy multiples). Lastly, and this is to anyone that reads this, I work long days in some of the most humid and hot subtropical areas as well as tropical areas and I'm here to tell you that you KNOW NOTHING ABOUT WOOL and wool blend if you've ever said or believed it when someone told you "It's too hot for wool soCKS". Ladies and Gents SOCKS ARE IMPORTANT... do research and experiment yourself. To Michael Carnley, I hope your boots fit (I'm betting they will) and that you enjoy the hell outta 'em and wear the sole outta 'em! Leave an update and tell us how it worked out for you when you get a chance... maybe it'll help out someone else in your shoes and give them a solid step in the right direction towards a sturdy new pair of boots! EDIT: Quality orthotic inserts and lacing techniques can actually solve a lot of issues with boots that are a little big so it's worth looking into if that's your case!

Hi dude! I see you are an 11E in Nivks boots. I was wondering what your standard Beannock measurement is. And also what size you get for sneakers. Im ordering some BP boots in 11D today. I took a pretty good guess on size based on my other boots. I'm also curious if you have an opinion between 1964 brown and Weather Shield Brown? I wonder if Weather shield will allow my foot to breathe. Cheers, and great video...as usual.

Hey mate and thanks for watching and chiming in. I wear a 12 in Tennis shoes. I measure just below a 12 on one foot and 12 on the other foot. Confusing but yes! It is a bit shorter in this video as I am sitting down. I have an 11D in these boots. Sounds like I can shop in your closet if I need new boots lol. I don't have too much of a comment on the leather as they should both breath about the same and it might go down to color. Thanks for watching!!

Good information but really bad camera resolution. I just can't see paying over $700 for a pair of boots when I can pay $150 for a pair of Carolina loggers they last me four to five years and by another pair that's 300 every 10 years I could literally have a new pair of boots for 15 years and pay less than one pair of nicks and I don't have an old stinky pair with new tread on them. Plus I was not surprised by the comfort of Carolina Boots there was no break in. They fit good right off the start they are a thick type of leather and very comfortable right off the bat I could not be more satisfied.

When you spend that much it would be nice to be measured by the company rather than yourself. Is there a way to send them a professionally measured size if you live far away?
@GentlemansJourney2 жыл бұрын
They have a great process for that. You can size yourself and based on the size you come up with using their described process they can then send you a boot and see if it is what you want. That's a trial boot and if that works then they will begin your order as you send that trial boot back. This info is on their website or you can give them a call!

I wish there was more info about toe space. I typically wear a 10.5D, that’s what I measure on brannock and that’s what I ordered in a falcon with w&c veg tan leather. I’ve got about 1” plus in front of my longest toe and it just seems like that’s really long.
@GentlemansJourney Жыл бұрын
That does seem a tad long, how does the vamp (area on top of your foot by the laces) feel? Does it seem to stop your foot from moving forward?

@@GentlemansJourney the rest of the boot feels ok. I get a little heel rub but I’m still in break in. I went through the try on boot process and what I got after my measurements and questionnaire for try on was an 11B which felt totally wrong. It was also the 55 heel which I also didn’t care for the feel of so opted for HNW.

My question is simple, this is the most complex site I have ever seen ! I have 6 inch 9 B Red Wing 202 moc toe boot, several years ago the shoe got larger, red wing changed the last maybe, I don't know ? Since I wear a 9 B they don't make a 8 and one half B. I've had surgeries on my feet this is the only shoe that works for me ! Can someone at your place either look at the shoe at the red wing site and recommend a shoe of yours or allow me to send you the shoe and have you recommend what shoe of yours I should order ? I and most people don't anything about shoe lasts or leather types or soles ! Please ! ! ! How would you like to order a car from Ford and they would ask you what type of pistons do you want in the car ? My God who knows !

20:10 what is the size of that boot, and what is the toe number? Your narrow foot is confusing me. its a last HNW due to the low heel right?
@GentlemansJourney Жыл бұрын
That's 11E 10 inch 3. Last The last is what gives a boot its overall shape and size. For Nicks it also determines the level of arch support in the boot. We offer three different lasts, with two different arch profiles. The 11067 and 55 lasts both have our "classic arch" which has a oaktanned leather arch piece. The HNW last is our moderate arch. Due to the shape of the HNW last, it is only available with our moderate heel height. nicksboots.com/buying-guide/

I tried them all, but I'd say give Nicks a call and ask about the long term difference between the two since I only had them on for a short time. Thanks so much for watching!
@Vultain2 жыл бұрын
The 67 really helps if you are up in the woods on odd terrain. It also positions your toes differently to prevent hammer toe. Besides that I found the 55 last a bit easier on standard ground such as asphalt, linoleum, or concrete. Feel wise I like both, for me personally the 67 would be a harder break in by the nature of my own feet. I already own the HNW in two boots and am picking up the 55 last. I have absolutely no break in other than the footbed with their HNW last but the 55 and the 67 lasts arch support is by far superior. So different boots for different applications. I do hope that helps you!

That's exactly right, from what I am finding Nicks is about 1/2 size down. He says that I was an 11.5 when standing and 11 while sitting. I really want to get back into a redwing a try an 11. I did not feel comfortable in their 11 in the past. However, I'll be doing a 1 year review on my redwing roughnecks soon and since those are a moctoe i felt that they are a little roomy after much use. Hope this does not confuse you.... Best thing to consider is I am an 11 sitting and nicks put me in an 11 and it was perfect!
