I would change the camera angles. F1 has a very slow feeling to it when you watch it on TV, even though they're going at a blistering pace. A wider field of view would help demonstrate just how fast the car is going in comparison to its surroundings, and would give the viewers more visual information as to how the driver in the car has to focus on whats in front of them.
@no_one10733 жыл бұрын
I see a lot of people talking about this point and I would definitely love to see a bit wider field of view but it's not going to happen as it would prevent more air time for the sponsors on the car.

It's because your eyes and brain adjusts to the speed of F1 and makes it feel "normal" for you. After you watch 15 mins of F1, switch over to same track with sports cars. Then comeback to F1. It does not feel slow anymore.

If they done what they did for free practice 1 at jeddah this weekend with the "sound up" period , it was one lap of no commentators talking, with just the sound of the car, but the camera angles changed as the car drove past different sections. @ERIK313513 жыл бұрын
@@oplisderi3164 Street circuits do not have to be dangerous, you see innovative series like Formula E using them exclusively. Yes, they run cars with drastically less power but the key factor is when you keep the barriers very close and parallel to the circuit, the angle of attack of any collision is shallower which means that you only take a small fraction of the horizontal force that you normally would were the barrier to be further from the track.

I would redesign all pit lanes in an attempt to make pit stop time loss as low as possible, hopefully around 15s. This is the problem that is killing race strategies. Hi Nico, I love hearing your commentary on F1, it's always great to see you on Sky commentating. My proposals for changes to F1 rules: If drivers change tyres under a red flag, a time penalty will be imposed equal to the average time lost for a tyre change at that track, the time period of the penalty will be determined before the race. The same rule would apply to bodywork changes (possibly additional time added for a nose change). In a situation where a driver would win the world championship by deliberately taking out a rival driver (and is adjudged to have done so by the stewards), even if he did not finish the race himself, the offending driver should suffer a points deduction and the aggrieved driver should be awarded points representative of the position he was in at the time of the incident. All three tyre types, soft, medium and hard, should be used during a race, thereby forcing two stops and thereby creating more unpredictability. Phew! What a race! I had sweaty palms throughout.

This circuit feels dangerous in some areas. The corner where Charles crashed has potential of a car bouncing back onto the circuit. Also the blind very fast corners where traffic is. It’s just got me a little worried of a massive incident that hopefully doesn’t occur. Hopefully something can be done to help with potential issues.
@Reefiemon3 жыл бұрын
Absolutely. Nico and you already pointed out turn 22. It looked like the wall absorbed Charles well in FP2 but if someone hits the very end of that barrier and it doesn't work as intended...yikes. Especially since the slightly curved straights lend themselves to drafting going into it. What I am also worried about is turns 4,5,6. While it may not lend itself to overtaking, everyone is going to want to hug the walls and touch kerbs to get the best racing line. Turn 4/5 is too fast to be blind with pretty much 0 runoff. Turn 6 has a similar barrier that you may not want to hit the end of. I just hope Mazespin is at the back.

Generally I would love for the car regulations to be relaxed, but especially adjustable aero devices. As a young engineer I can only imagine the crazy ideas that could be developed. Cornering speed would increase massively and the wheel to wheel race strategy could be completely changed. For example artificial "dirty air" vs "automatic downforce systems". It would be insane, and with the cost cap in place, the development would be limited so that performance differences don't increase like crazy. It would make the constructors championship much more relevant to the public and the teams.

You have to balance the regulations by following the safety and tire innovation rates. I don't think any of the main tire manufacturers would dare to partner up with F1 if it got like that, they would just destroy them. And already at the speed they're going, the crashes get pretty crazy, you don't want to add too much more before you reach the point where the crumple zones are just not enough anymore. And you can't have the drivers passing out from the G-forces mid-corner either. Unless you want to remove the drivers and make the machines drive themselves, I don't think that's either feasible or a good idea in general. I think it's more impressive how much improvements they're able to extract out of very strict regulations. Optimization is the future, innovation for the sake of innovation without practical applications is not sustainable on the long term.
@josepablochew8773 жыл бұрын
@@charles-antoinemartel-roy I really disagree mate. Think about the amount of RnD that tire manufacturers would gain. Polymers are some of the most understudied materials and the dynamic behavior opens many applications not only in F1. It could even introduce an extra Deg aspect. Just think of how many other routes there are: Braking Performance, Engine efficiency, numeric simulation technology, computational requirements, actuation technologies, etc... You are right safety is always the most important thing, but I'm not saying that we should change every wing for flaps with an 90° range of motion for the next race. It needs to be gradual but still.... And it can be just like changing the brake balance or DRS, it still needs a driver to operate.
@charles-antoinemartel-roy3 жыл бұрын
@@josepablochew877 Tire manufacturers are already working flat out my friend. Pirelli isn't just sitting there manufacturing, they have permanent research facilities already, and this generation of F1 car is already causing tire failures. And it doesn't matter if your tire is strong enough at race 1, but by the last race the cars are now 3 seconds faster because there was too much room for improvement and the tires can no longer take it. And in-season change of tire construction is bad for multiple reasons, for example how it punishes the teams that had done the best job tuning their car to fit the tire and it introduces risks of corruption, where a tire manufacturer would deliberately introduce a tire favoring a specific team. The Formula One world is already extremely precariously balanced, Mclaren almost ran out of money because Covid delayed the start of the season by 4 months. The risk assessment resulting from this sort of regulations being introduced would scare away investors and the sport would crash. That's without even mentioning how bad the actual racing would be. Don't worry, every engineer dreams to see an insane car built without restrictions, but F1 is not where it should happen. Maybe it could be a standalone project, a modern real life version of the Newey-designed X2011 type of project.
@peixeserra91163 жыл бұрын
I'm still not so sure about that. Even with the cost cap, big teams such as Merc, Ferrari, Red Bull and McLaren would still hold the best cars, the best drivers, facilities and personel, of course not counting that some of these teams make their own engines, giving them even more freedom with their designs. Something the smaller guys wouldn't have much to their hands to compete if they're allowed to go all out I think that simplifying both the Aero concepts, perhaps with some standarzation between the teams, and of course simpler, more inviting Engine rules to allow new manufacturers/in house departments to be made as well as more varied interpretations should have to take priority before the Teams could go all out on their designs, or else we might see the return of the early 2000s and 2010s Ferrari/Merc Dominance, if not worse

Haas would take the offer every weekend then cuz they're last anyway. You could just some grid penalties to start last, so you get new engines and a bonus for victory. What if someone else also takes the offer? They can't both start P20.

I'd like to see the high RPM engines come back. That sound is legendary and even the cars aren't the same I think people would enjoy it and bring them back to the old days.

To be completely honest I prefer the new sounds over the old ones. They bring back memories, sure, but we should tick off the old days and enjoy those memories.

The cars should've had higher rpm with the new regulations in 2022, but with honda leaving the sport the engine regulations have been delayed to 2025

I would shorten the cars. The increased turning radius, to me, is part of what makes passing so hard in corners. They're already trying to solve the downforce issues with the new cars but having more ROOM to actually pass would probably be way better.
@AniketPatil373 жыл бұрын
One of major reasons cars have increased in dimensions is for driver safety. If we want a smaller car size with the current safety standards, reduction in max and average speed is imperative.

What a legend Rosberg is. Thanks so much for making content like this. As for making the racing more interesting, I would hand out equal points for qualifying as I would for race day, and then reverse the grid for the race from the qualifying results. Every race would be bananas.

Adding a joker lap, meaning all the drivers have to take a different line once in a race, they can choose whenever they want to do that. This would add some pretty spicy strategic plays to the game. For example adding an extra corner, which if taken concludes your joker lap. Also you would have to indicate with the back lamp, that you’re going to the joker lap, so they don’t crash you from behind. This would help with being held. Btw I heard this somewhere so I’m not taking credit, but would he hella fun

So my idea is just for Monaco. Do qualifying on Thursday which sets the grid for a sprint race in go carts on Saturday. Imagine the sends you'd see into every corner and how much it could mix up the grid

I think it would be pretty sweet to try and make the cars a bit smaller (they’re like canal boats these days) and have a some kind of mariokart style mirror tracks thrown into the mix. Maybe just for the sprint races?

I forgot which announcer said this during the Mexican GP, but really like the idea of mandatory use of all three compounds of tires during a weekend and (my extra idea is) getting rid of starting on the Q2 tires rule. The combination of driver talent and team strategy always makes for far more interesting races and would make every track a nail bitter.
@zacbright2443 жыл бұрын
The thing I would like to see added/changed is unlimited testing. I think if teams want to, they should be able to rent out a track and see where there car is with changes that are actively being made to the car. Im sure there’s issues with this idea, whether it be logistical or financial, I just think it could benefit smaller teams a lot

DRS train rule: if there is a car in front and behind you within one second, you would have three laps to get past the car in front if the car in front didn’t have DRS. If you can’t get past the car in front in three laps then you lose drs for three laps even if you are still within DRS range of the car ahead. This would promote more overtaking and limit DRS trains.
@hdr_diamondz3 жыл бұрын
Actually might work, but a bit artificial ngl.

I would open up engine regs so the teams can run anything they want. If a team wants to go full electric, they can, and if they want to run heavy ICEs only, they can. I’d love to have variety of engines back in F1. Plus, it would encourage new manufacturers.

I would add live VR transmission. This way, anyone watching at home that has a VR headset could put it on, and ride live with their favorite racer during the race with a cam from their point of view. 🔥

Hey Nico. The thing I would like to change about formula 1 is the early retirements. Just watching f2 highlights where a couple guys were out first corner first lap for a broken front wing. Do it like nascar. Fix the car and get them back out there. Give the first car a lap down their lap back on a caution and give those drivers a chance. The f1 retirements has always been something that has bugged me. Someone caught in a gravel trap and their race is over. I think we would see some good mid pack battles. Thanks for the track analysis videos. You are a legend!!

Every Driver Races with Every Car. R E V O L U T I O N I S E F1 ! This is how: F1 is all about excitement, fun and speed.Motorsport fans want to see racing. It does not matter which car is the best or the fastest, what matters are overtakes, wheel banging and on track battles (just like the battles between Nico and Lewis, oh my)! How do we obtain that? Make F1 about the drivers, create the biggest show ever! Every driver has to drive one of the 10 available F1 cars at two different F1 circuits (they are randomly distributed at the beginning of the season). This would make the driver's championship much much much more exciting and interesting, as now results would not only depend on the over/under-performance of a car but mostly dependent on the general level of talent of each driver. At the same time the constructor's championship would become even more interesting as every team would have to deal with different drivers (immagine the drama). Immagine! 20 drivers, 20 circuits and every F1 racer driving each car 2 times. Crazyy! What a championship that would give us! This would show us who truely is the best F1 driver.. Lewis, Seb, Lando or even Mazespin? Who knows!!!

One thing I would love to add to the current F1 format is awarding points for pole position. This would add more value on pole position. So I would love see that happening.

I’d have the drivers drive for every constructor. Each race they rotate teams, 20 races, they race with each constructor twice. This way you’d know who the best drivers and who the best constructors truly are.

One thing I would change about f1 is returning to Africa probably kylami in South Africa as every other continent (except Antarctica) has a grand Prix except Africa and I think I would allow 1 billion more people to access the racing and it would truly make it a world championship.

The regulators should build the Formula around the capabilities they want the cars to have, rather than prescribing how the teams build the cars - tell the teams how much power the engines can produce, not how many cylinders it can have. Tell them how much drag and downforce they must produce at a given speed, rather than strictly describing the shape of the cars they must build. This could in theory create more varied cars that are still competitive.
@TC93TC3 жыл бұрын
One thing I have always said is that Q3 should be a top 10 shootout.. Each car gets one lap and the track to themselves. No traffic issues and just the driver and the track. If they make a mistake then they don't get to do another lap. So much pressure and intensity on the lap. Go watch Supercars Top 10 Shootout at Bathurst and see how amazing the broadcast is. Commentators (ex racers) speak to the drivers after the lap and chat about how they feel it went!

What would be cool is to give 1 or 2 points to the driver that completed the most overtakes in the whole season, that way midfield teams can fight over one more point and make things more exciting

I would set a budget as the only regulation and let the teams go wild with the car designs. Eliminate the standard parts, only maybe keep the safety parts of the car as mandatory, such as the survival cell, but except for that let them go wild and come up with the best cars possible, cuz in the end that’s what F1 is. If a team wants to add 6 wheels, ok. You want V8, ok. You want a fan at the back of your car or DAS, good, go for it.
