An instant hit with my family!! We tried it this morning for Sunday breakfast, and we'll have it on fast rotation from now on. I did try a successful shortcut: I split the batter into 2 ovenproof bowls, covered with cling film, set them on a baking sheet & put into a 50C oven for 30 minutes. Worked a charm!! I got 16 out of the batch.

They look good, I`ll be trying them out sometime soon. I have to say that I would not use steel rings in a good non-stick frying pan though. If you have a good Chinese Emporium (Supermarket) nearby you should be able to find some very good wooden rings to use. Another thing you might try is to pour a little melted butter into the mix when you stir it, it will give a nice gloss to the top of your already delicious looking crumpets!
