TheBaalsv I’m laughing that you said green lemon instead of lime, lol. Lemon isn’t that bad with tacos though depending on the filling, I know most everybody uses lime
@rebeccah93476 жыл бұрын
weeeeee111 no, they’re two different fruits with different flavours, it’s a popular misconception that limes are just a different colored lemon or unripened lemons when this isn’t the case. I laugh when someone says “green lemon” instead of lime but I’m hearing it so often now that I’m starting to assume it’s just a translation error. I have a Portuguese friend who told me that the word for lemon and lime are the same in her language.

That looks so delicious! You have no idea how I appreciate the tortilla you made, almost every other person would have used a burrito-like tortilla and while it's ok it's still not the same, the flavour is very different. And yours inflated while being cooked, THAT is the sign of a good tortilla. As my grandma would say: "your tortillas inflate? Good! NOW you can marry." Also, a suggestion. You can try cooking the salsa in a small pot until it changes its colour, that gives it a different flavour so you can give it a small twist if you want. Thanks for the video! Much love from Mexico.

Does cooking the salsa increase spiciness? Such as I've noticed with fresh salsas from taquerias, the longer I've brought it home and had it in the fridge, the spicier it becomes overnight. Also, I look forward to the day when I finally get a tortilla that puffs up. THEN I can marry! Haha.
@akamba21336 жыл бұрын
@@carpediem8752 Yes! Absolutely!
@akamba21336 жыл бұрын
@@Penguinchubb0 I haven't noticed an increase in spiciness with cooking then but the flavour definately changes. And the salsas taste more spicy if you leave them overnight because you are allowing the ingredients to sit and kind of release more flavour. I find the same thing happens with several dishes like pozole and mole de olla, those are not spicy but they always taste stronger the day after.

It's nowhere near "authentic," nor perfect, even as a vegan version. It's more Asian than any kind of Latino version. It's Asian filling on a corn tortilla. And I say that as someone who's been vegetarian and a serious cook for 46 years. His flavor profile and ingredients aren't Mexican or Southwestern, and since I've seen him find all kinds of ingredients and tools from other cultures, he could have gotten authentic ingredients for this, too. And tacos are folded, whether soft or crisp.

For the offended and dissapointed ones... What's your problem, people? He's making his own taco version, and he obviously uses some different ingredients. In Mexico there's pizza of "chile relleno" and sushi "de pastor", imagine what the Italians and the Japanese could think. In addition, in Mexico there are Mexican chefs who also make new versions of traditional dishes, and it is not that you have to change the traditional food, it is to take it as the basis for new flavors and combinations, it is called innovating. You may be more open mind..
@nyxthevampire28265 жыл бұрын
As a Texan I was somewhat shocked by the choice of filling, but in a good way because most vegetarian fillings are avocado or cauliflower based unless it's just cheesy. Otherwise, the recipe is really traditional with the roasting and the making of the corn tortillas. I was shocked that he owned a press because even I don't have one! If y'all can't find one, flattening the dough using a plate works too.

Scrolling through the comments, I'm surprised how many people are surprised he knows how to make authentic tacos. My husband and I do from-scratch tacos, rice, and beans a couple times every month. I took for granted that people at least knew how or had a press. As far as your recipe, looks delicious. I would only say saute the garnishing onions for a minute to kick down their raw flavor. It doesn't dilute their flavor, just makes them less acute. Also, if you want thicker, more complex salsa, put it on the pot with some chicken stock for about an hour or 2 👍🏻
