Just enter the water slowly and accelerate until the wave comes up to the bonnet height (deep water). This means there is a gap behind the standing wave... a gap that water can't fill IF the standing wave gets kept ahead of the vehicle. That "hole" also means the fan doesn't spin in water... and the water can't get into the air intake either.
