At first, the rescue run seemed a lost cause - all rescuers had lost sight of their targets. But Tony had found a different seal with a deep cut caused by fishing line around his neck, and he grabbed him by the hind flipper. It was very deep and had caused severe discomfort and pain. The entanglement had to be removed with pliers.
In the meantime, Naude found a seal with a new kind of entanglement around his neck, and he dragged it along to check for other entanglements. He showed Wally another seal with yellow fishing line, and Wally ran off to grab the net as the seal was too big to be caught by hand.
While Naude assisted Antoine with his seal, Wally "The Seal Whisperer" guarded the other two entangled seals in their respective nets.
Wally's seal had a big ball of snoek fishing line wrapped around his body, including his mouth. The rescuers had to be very careful to avoid getting bitten.
The third seal proved to be the most unusual entanglement of the day: a stainless steal kitchen strainer. They were very lucky that they could simply pull it off his head. Without OCN's help, the seal would have suffocated or starved soon. All three of them. 🦭
