While I agree with your commentary, I do see what's behind Joe's mind. Most dads, if not all, worry too much about what will happen to their children if they're gone. It's a typical father's love. Is it wrong? Yes and no. Yes, because they tend to put their children in the highest standard, highest standards are achieved with trials and errors, and they don't want to see errors from the beginning. No, because it comes from their love for their children. They live in a time where they have to keep fighting relentlessly so they can put food on the table. That era numbed people's feelings. They don't know how to express themselves better.

@L33tSkE3tАй бұрын
@@TwilightNecromancerI imagine she was also being verbally and emotionally abused to some extent, as well. When someone finds themselves in that type of situation, being faced with a consistently high level of emotional distress, one gets to a point at which they can no longer physically, mentally nor emotionally , take it anymore. Thus they finally respond to the situation and they will do so by reacting with a fight, flight, freeze or fawn type response. Married women that have found themselves in an abusive or toxic relationship, particularly, tend to react by freezing and or fawning. They will sit or stand there, nearly motionless, in a near complete trance at times and, because they remain so intimidated and emotionally exhausted, they also “fawn” over their abusers. They do so basically without thinking, because their brain is just simply trying to do anything it can to prevent the emotional and verbal abuse from continuing. It’s why you will often see women in abusive relationships choose to remain in them, because their mind has had to adapt to survive and, it can be difficult for someone to snap themselves out of such a deeply ingrained and conditioned behavior / defense mechanism. Now, I’m by no means saying that Joe / Giuseppe is necessarily an abusive man and, he seemingly hasn’t physically abused anyone, that we know of, but, his anger, ignorance, refusal to acknowledge his own faults along with his complete inability, initially, to show any form of empathy, compassion, approval or acceptance for and of his own son and his role in the restaurant, as well as the continual onslaught of the verbal and emotional abuse towards his son, clearly demonstrates that Joe has become verbally and emotionally abusive, likely as a result of the continued stress of trying to run a failing business and the similarly exhaustive toll it has has had on both him and his family. Creating an extremely unhealthy environment that has brought nothing but negativity and resentment upon everyone in that restaurant. Most of what we see here is a family trying and failing to manage the stresses of running their failing business and the results of such an exhaustive and emotionally taxing situation that must be. ultimately, like in many ‘Kitchen Nightmares’ episodes, the restaurant cannot be fixed, until the people running it and their relationships with each-other are first. Otherwise, the personal hostilities and resentments will continue to worsen in, what is ultimately, an extremely toxic environment for everyone involved.

Fyi for those who haven't watched the UK version, Ramsay IS this soft. That's not to say he's not got a temper and there's no drama, it's all genuine, people do confirm he has a huge temper, but it's not his entire personality. The US kitchen nightmares is edited for the drama, because that's the market there.
@candacen77793 жыл бұрын
No, it's not the market here. That's just how Gordon wants to present himself here in the US. No American celebrity chef has the reputation that Gordon has in terms of temper. He chose to highlight his temper to make himself stand out from the bunch. But nowhere in the history of US celebrity chefs has anyone been as verbally abusive and caustic as Gordon. He chose this brand to present to us. We didn't chose it for him, so please don't act like the US market demanded that he behave this way in order to find him entertaining and interesting. Julia Child. Paul Prudhomme. Emeril Lagasse. Paula Deen. Ina Garten. David Chang. Rachel Ray. All famous American chefs, and not one of them were/are known for acting anything like Gordon in the kitchen. Other celebrity chefs from around the world have found fame in the US as well, and they do not act like Gordon either. Wolfgang Puck. Jamie Oliver. Nigella Lawson. Giada De Laurentiis. Jose Andres. Nobu Matsuhisa. So please stop blaming Americans for Gordon's brand choices. It's *NOT* the market here. It's how he chose to approach the market. Don't attribute his bombastic behavior to American sensibilities.

@Akuzhir3 жыл бұрын
@@candacen7779 see from your side you don't see it. To everyone else on the outside. America thrives off of drama. Gordon's "temper" only exists if you're disrespecting food, the job or just not realizing that you're great. He's a great guy and is not the one editing these shows. The editing team is a whole separate entity and with shows you edit based off of the target audience. So all this drama shit, the suspenseful music, etc. Not present in the UK show but is present in the US show. It's not even just chefs, a shit ton of shows in the US do the drama shit. The majority of the US audience likes it. Hence why you get shit like this. In the UK dubbing of the American episodes, the music and shit is gone.
@candacen77793 жыл бұрын
@@Akuzhir A) Don't assume that I don't see the fake tension added to the series through the melodramatic editing. B) Don't assume that the only TV shows that I watch are American TV shows. C) Nothing you said refutes what I said about the American market *not* determining how Gordon chooses to present himself to an American audience. I'm old enough to remember that the reality show phenomena came to the States after it hit big in the UK. As a matter of fact, most Americans mocked reality TV viciously before it exploded on our televisions prior to the 2008 Writers Strike. And it's still mocked today. And it's the reality show nonsense that's turned up to 11 here because this crap is fake drama for the sake of fake drama, which the UK eats up just as much as the US (see the success of Big Brother, I'm a Celebrity Get Me Outta Here, etc.). So please miss me with the absurd notion that the UK shows don't do the drama "shit." Their reality TV show crap isn't some high-brow Masterpiece Theatre for urban sophisticates. They may not use the exaggerated music and jump cuts as much, but they're just as ridiculous and absurd. And again, reality TV was a huge hit in the UK before it made its way across the pond. So obviously it's not what the American market "demanded." My point stands: Gordon chose to present himself this way to American audiences, and there was literally no reason for him to do so. Plenty of celebrity chefs from outside the US have made a name for themselves here without feeding into this melodrama. And plenty of American chefs have become household names without doing so as well. It's not the market. It's Gordon who made this choice.
