To all those who aren't keen on the new sound, Nanna has said in interviews that this song isn't necessarily representative of the whole album. Though it will be generally lighter in tone than Beneath the Skin. Personally, I like that the band is willing to experiment a bit. A band's back catalogue will always be around to listen to, so always striving for something new is a good thing.
@matteosposato94485 жыл бұрын
Also, it is easier to listen to bands that have completed their artistic trajectory: it's all there, you may 100% like it, 100% dislike it or somewhere in the middle, but it's all already there - ready to be explored but with little shock. Instead, when you follow a band that is evolving, you will face the contradictions of liking what they used to do but looking at them changing. It is therefore normal sometimes to be doubtful of new stuff. This is how I felt when I first listened this, but I gave it time and am now enjoying it, especially because I begin to see the evolution line. I am eager to listen to the whole album

Each album is like a separate room of artwork, with each room being distinct from each other. So if you're upset that this doesn't sound like Beneath the Skin, or that Beneath the Skin didn't sound like My Head Is an Animal, well, that's the point. Both musically and lyrically, each album tell a different story with different feelings.
@marcoferrao5 жыл бұрын
I love the fact that they did it. Altough I do have the feeling that their second album was sort of popish. Glad they came with songs like this one here, I like it, but I did fell in love with the first album style.

@@marcoferrao I dunno. I certainly wouldn't classify Beneath My Skin as Pop. It's got way too much variety, depth, emotion, and pain. It's as amazing as the first album, but in a whole different style, so they're not really too comparable. They're like apples and oranges. Also, I don't like this song. But then again, the only song on their last album that I didn't like was the first song they released: Crystals... So I'm going to assume that, like last time, the rest of the album will be full of new favorite songs. :D

I would like to offer one interpretation; the song is about recovering from depression. The lyric's "Wake me up!" and "I must be fever dreamin'" are reminiscent of depression. In a depressive disorder, people see things like dark, cold, have feelings of worthlessness, feel unattached, they feel like nothing matters, and they feel hopeless It's a lot like a fever dream filled with monsters. Recovering from depression is a lot like waking up from a bad dream, because then you realize all the great things in life, like love, connection, confidence, and all the colors pictured in the video.
@PreciousBoxer5 жыл бұрын
You can go right ahead and claim I am currently in such a state and awaiting to waken up, although I would rightfully digress. I ask of you this: Are you awake now or when you sleep, or when you pass? Row, row, row your boat (after all). You have the answers. You just need to remember what the question was. It's okay if nothing matters; you're okay. If you are fever-dreaming, you are woke and not feeling depressed and cold (as you stated). Don't conflate the name of the song with the name of the band. Does a state of non-living include love, connection, confidence, and color? O,r is death black and white since we cannot empathize with such a state of being? Be very careful with what you decide is true, because your mind will most likely change with time.
@PreciousBoxer5 жыл бұрын
"Fever-dreaming" implies "delirium." Just a point-of-view from someone who has studied Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing and all the other requirements to obtain an Associate's Degree in that field (though not certified or registered due to my personal moral compass). You are never alone, never were, and never will be.
@PreciousBoxer5 жыл бұрын
I truly am apologetic, but feel a need to know how fever- (a word commonly used to portray heat) dreaming can possibly be considered cold (as you expressed) in any sense of the actual word itself. BTW, I know depression (perhaps in ways you have yet to experience).
@professorcomics27365 жыл бұрын
@@PreciousBoxer Your right. I haven't studied to obtain an Associate's Degree in that field or any requirements for that degree. I've only read some of a psych textbook. The thing is, no one has a monopoly on the feelings of depression. I certainly do not, and it is a fairly common thing for people. The statement above is only an interpretation based on personal experience. As for the coldness feeling; that was meant to say that depression was the fever dream, and in the fever dream it was cold. Monsters are a sense of worthlessness and hopelessness in the dream. Maybe I haven't known depression in ways that you've experienced or know, but I along with many others have dealt with it. I pray for you if you have had depressive thoughts, so please take care. I know there are issues with my above post, but I stand by it and do not see it as anything other than flawed and personal.

This is pretty pop. I don't really remember the other albums, other than I'm not a fan of them. They started off with a cool, different folk vibe and then immediately went to pretty generic sounding pop.

Peloso Endgame, Game of Thrones, Bastille and now my favourite artists of all time, Of Monsters and Men...this month has been crazy!!! What a way to end the 2010’s with all these projects releasing this year and all these franchises ending, it’s like a decade has come full circle. My Head Is An Animal was released in 2011 and now this album comes at the tail end. Incredible.

Esto es Of Monsters and Men. 💕
