i feel so connected to this song when they say "as the soft walls eat us alive" and then proceed to play such beautiful melody for the rest of the song feels like acceptance, accepting the unfathomable truth of their lives the fact that less the half of the song has lyrics is for me the perfect choice since it feels like it builds up that acceptance of what's happening, the last moments of the stages of grief feels like finally making peace with reality, when you decide to just go with it regardless if you want to or not, in the end, we can't control reality, but we can control "our own" reality, we can control the way we take the things that happen to us the half of the song that's just music feels like that moment when your mind finally feels free of the dread, the stress, the sorrow, the uncertainty, the suffering, feels like finally being able to see things as they actually are, your eyes feel relaxed, your mind cools down, the music feels like it understands that and helps you think about the world, the situation you're going through you finally stop resisting the treatment reality gives you, you embrace it, and realize that you are stronger than you thought, maybe not enough to change everything, but enough to keep on going regardless

Life lesson: dont let anyone tell you that the music you like is bad. Im my personal experience music has a profound influence on your personality. So explore, and listen to what you vibe with. Because the right music to listen to, is the music you like.

Yes, I listen to all kinds of music, just to find the right one, and I feel that there's not a superior kind. No matter how much effort or how much depth it has, music has to be entertaining, so someone who listens to queen is getting the same outcome as someone who listens to doja cat. I personally love deep or bittersweet songs and artists like AURORA, but there's always going to be somebody with a different taste, we should respect that

The world Of Monsters And Men have created in these videos is so beautiful, weird, and mystical. I'd love a musical (think across the universe but for OMaM), animated, centered around their music that weaves a narrative that stitches these videos together.
@jamesbutler48278 жыл бұрын
Totally. I haven't seen all the vids but I feel that they are all somehow related: like how in dirty paws i see maybe someone being liberated from some conflict with the support of someone else, so maybe the girl was battling mental illness and the the guy came in they fell and love and saved her. From finner I think is about their adventures together and is a contrast to the following little talks, which I interpret as the guy is dead, and the woman is kinda broken because of it. Six weeks would be about her struggle made into a Hugh glass metaphor, and then love love love as how the women feels that she'll never love again. And then finally the women is killed and the lovers meet again in the afterlife, where they guy shows her it isn't that bad. Idk, I like to think of the album as one great story.

You know... since 2012 when I discovered OMAM I absolutely fell in love with them. "Yellow Light" is probably my favorite song and I really analyzed the lyrics in search of meaning. When I came up with my own interpretation of what this song means... I knew one thing: that if I was to ever fall in love with a girl and ask her to marry me, this song had to be played during our wedding. And in the summer of 2019, we did hear this song at midnight and we danced to it while all the guest circled us in the dark... with glowing sticks in the color of yellow.

Many of their songs ask existential questions about life, love, conflict, and finding meaning. There seems to be lots of pain while chasing after a glimmer of hope and escape. I think there music is reflective of a generation that has had terror thrust upon them by a world going madder every day. There is lots of systemic abandonment and pain but the innate desire to push on and find something better.

Simply amazing feel to it. Like a mothers lullaby on a stormy night. These guys have a nice dark, brooding feel and yet almost a hopeful demeanor. You listen to what they are saying and how it's said, it seems like they have come through a lot of hardship together. I remember listening to this song 8 years ago in the car with my girlfriend at the time. It was a rainy night and we were on the way home after eating out. We were fighting at the time and there was a question of where our relationship was headed. After trying to talk it out, we sat in silence for a while, then this song started playing. I instinctively grabbed her hand and held it as she rested her other hand on top of mine. In that moment, without saying a word, as the "lala's" in the song crescendoed to its climax, it felt like everything would be okay between us. We're not together anymore, but for some reason I'm always reminded of that night and that seemingly small, insignificant event whenever I listen to this song, even 8 years later. I guess it just reminds me of a simpler time.

I've had trouble interpreting this song for years. I used to think that the male speaker was intentionally leading the female speaker into harm's way, since he said to ignore all the warning signs and the light was blinding his eyes, (which could still be true, I guess.) But the last line and the air of the music afterward suggests that he's leading her out of her terribly tiny comfort zone in order to truly enjoy life, though scary it may be. The soft walls are the small confines of what she considers "safety", confines so small that they "eat them alive," or basically have them rotting away. You know it's a really good song when it takes someone forever to figure it out and it's still abiguous lol

I always imagine like a girl who have severe anxiety/Depression and is afraid of everything and everyone. So she met a boy who's willing to help her. That's why even if she describes everything as they are scary and dangerous, he is always calm and confident. He tries to make her confident of herself too, as he says 'ignore those big warning signs' refering to her afraid to go with him. Also, she seems to be lost because she just can't find herself on so many anxiety and so many scary feelings. The light could be the 'light in the end of the tunnel', when se realizes that there is a answer, there is a way to get better. Just can't not imagine me and my boyfriend >,< This is a masterpiece, and I love it!!

They have the power to make you cry or calm or feel chills or question your entire existence because of how they reach to your soul. Of Monsters and Men is incredible. They are a rare gem among music that just isn't so much music anymore, and the fact that OMAM isn't incredibly famous or extremely well known kinda gives me hope that the good music is reserved for those who look for it. When i was younger i was definitely at risk and no matter what I did the adults in my life (family and teachers) either didn't care or never noticed. I found this song one night and it made me cry immediately. It became a nightly routine to cry myself to sleep while listening to this because at the time for me the first person symbolized someone on the edge of ending it all and the other was her conscience that was accepting of it and helped her to do it. It helped me to hear for some reason and made me feel less alone. Now that i'm doing a little better i think my stance on the meaning of the song has changed. It feels more like her conscience is helping her through a hard time and letting her know its okay to feel these things. I still cry whenever i listen to this song but its more because i wish i could go back and help my younger self through those horrible years.

Ive been having LITTLE TALKS with myself BENEATH MY BED, waiting over SIX WEEKS for this song that I LOVE LOVE LOVE. This video deserves to be seen by well over a THOUSAND EYES... This is one of those songs you can feel deep in YOUR BONES. Weather it's a hike up BLUEBERRY MOUNTAIN, or a visit to your BACKYARD, this song will embed itself into your ORGANS, your heart, brain etc... This is my WINTER SOUND, my MOUNTAIN SOUND, my EMPIRE. This is my YELLOW LIGHT in an ocean of BLACK WATER, because I am only HUMAN, WE all SINK I am a SINKING MAN. It's a SLOW LIFE, and I move SLOW AND STEADY a PHANTOM follows me as I stare at the SKELETONS covered with ice CRYSTALS near my LAKEHOUSE. I blaze my illegal NUMB BEARS to try and escape the pain as I enter a deep deep SLOOM. I want to be in HAWAII, I want to have this HAPPY SONG with me. I feel this HUNGER, like WOLVES WITHOUT TEETH do. Their DIRTY PAWS follow their KING AND LIONHEART, searching for the I OF THE STORM. I picture SILHOUETTES of A BOY AND A BIRD, floating on PARTICLES. The boy, JOSIE, is playing with SUGAR IN A BOWL, sadly singing "WERE GETTING OLDER" This is the power of this song... --FROM FINNER

i was coming back from camping. It had been a long journey and we had been driving for the entire day, and it was late in the night. I was sitting in the passenger seat just watching the forest go past and slowly falling asleep. I put this song on and Wow Just with this song playing and watching the dark forests speed fast me gave some overwhelming sense of spiritual connection with nature. It was amazing like I was acctually looking at the spirit of the forest. Never had an experience like it. Amazing what music can do.

I used to listen this song while smoking on the porch of my old apartment. The girl I had strong feelings for wasn't interested in me. In fact, she was dating one of my good friends at the time. During the day, I felt like life wasn't fair to me. I arrived home. Open my cigarillos pack and played this song. Needless to say, it managed to take me out of my misery for a few minutes. Sure, the lyrics didn't have a distinct link with my life, but the song just soothed me for a small while. Anyway, thought it would be nice to share this story with someone.

Howling from the edge of all time Everything left has a remnant of what was left out of time My deepest breaths and could not get, my head to save us from death's behest We've made it so you all come back Come back to this and another test We've drowned our hearts and beat the best We've found our hearts in deepest regress We've made a mound and embers bless Eternal lights, our souls at rest One by one they all did fall Each heart a tear and enough have yet been shed I knew it from the start there'd be no way to save the day It went through sifts from nemesis to bring you back from our wake from our wake In twists you exist, and you're still all in my head In twists you exist, and you're no longer dead In twists you exist, and still I'm seeing red

This song makes me feel a lot of wonderful things. Melancholy invades me, it makes me feel a kind of nostalgia for times gone by, when I was much younger and shy, alone in a strange world. I still feel lost, but the light is still there, despite the storms. And I'm not lying when I write this message with tears in my eyes. The best musical band of recent years, without a doubt

The time I was pregnat (just at the begining), I felt so close and occasionally sad to leave my family (mother, father and brother). At the begining was difficult to face the fact but inside me a light was giving me support to continue and feel happy about the new age of my life. With the love of my husband and the cares of my mother I could feel in peace and enjoy this awesome expirience; this song remainds me this stage and of course it's beautiful and relaxing Each one of us has their own meaning to interpretate this song.

Just follow my yellow light And ignore all those big warning signs. Somewhere deep in the dark A howling beast hears us talk. I dare you to close your eyes And see all the colors in disguise. Running into the night The earth is shaking and I see a light. The light is blinding my eyes As the soft walls eat us alive.

Whenever I listen to this song I like to imagine a girl who woke up in a different world and she met a boy there and they became really close. Then she wakes up (when the light burns his eyes) and she keeps trying to go to that world but she never can. People call her crazy because she talks about him and then when she dies she finally meets him again(at the end)

I saw them in concert in 2016 and it was so much fun. We almost got rained out by a really bad thunderstorm but as soon as it stopped thundering, the amphitheater was reopened and we all listened to this amazing music in the slight drizzle of rain. It was actually magical. They played this song at the end, when it was almost midnight and everyone was super happy but tired. It was one of the best days of my life.

Whenever I listen to this album, I alway imagine each song being apart of a story being told. It follows a brother and sister; she’s a storyteller, enchanting her brother with tales about the creatures of their world in Dirty Paws. However, evil men are in the midst of conquering the land to exploit it for their own greed. In the King and Lionheart music video, they are separated from each other. The story then follows them throughout their long journey to be reunited, exploring the world and meeting its ancient inhabitants on the way. In the end, the fantastical creatures have been killed and world has been reduced to a wasteland. The story ends with Yellow Light, the song where the siblings finally meet again. The sister has been left traumatized by her journey and has lost all hope. But the brother comforts her, reassuring her that something can be made from the devastation. They then journey, this time together, to see where this new world will bring them.

Many people interpret this song as a song about a war and bombings. I believe it is about an insane person. The girl is saying what she sees, and the boy is the voice in her head. "Running into the night, the earth is shaking and I see a light" strapped to a hospital bead, which is vibrating as it goes down the hall, and the soft walls of a padded cell feel like they are closing in on her as she goes deeper into insanity. notice how the boy said "the light is blinding my eyes" he is the voice in her head, but he is no longer calming her, he is seeing what she is seeing and is no longer supporting her, he is her. sorry if this was confusing, it's just what I feel

I have personally dealt a lot with anxiety, and still do, but to a lesser degree than previously in certain aspects. For me this song is about experiencing anxiety, and finally finding someone who can help guide you through the many fake dangers that anxiety puts up, help you enjoy life again to a higher extent, and show that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Nothing is a dance on roses though, and there will be setbacks, where the walls collapse in on you.
