Hi Tony, I like your review video. Since you say that switching the stance for beginners is not the feasible. Therefore, we should first learn the basic stance. But what if the power of both our hands are are almost equal? In this case how to select whether we must go for the Orthodox or the Southpaw Stance?

Thank you for pointing out some of the obvious mistakes on so many boxing channels. I watch too many of these videos. It’s like watching a car wreck, I can’t look away. I read a comment from someone on one of the bad ones, asking if he should go to a real gym or if he can learn to box by watching videos. At least 10 people gave him advice, and not one advised him to find a real gym. I know the kids who really want to learn will search out a gym, same as it ever was. What worries me is the number of people who believe they can box without ever taking a lesson or sparring with a trained boxer. I’ve seen a few slip into boxing shows as “independents” and get hurt.

Thats how im learning now. I did martial arts since I was nine and im mainly trying to internalize form, shadow box, etc. Mostly condition and build great form and physique. Im gonna go to a gym eventually tho cause cause im useless till I get back to sparring 😄
@danhiggins53932 жыл бұрын
@@angelocarantino4803 I've had so many people tell me they'll come to the gym once they get in shape or practise at home. All they're doing is wasting that time, because there's a 99% chance they're learning bad habits that take time to correct. Any gym worth going to will recognize skill and fitness levels of members, and make sure they don't overdo it or get hurt. The fact you're in the gym with other athletes will motivate you to learn faster.

That blue headgear guy at the end with the sparring was actually quite good. His Philly Shell was pretty solid, only ever tightening it when he needed to parry/block/shoulder block something or when he's going in to engage. What I didn't like is his descent into the corner with his Philly Shell, as he was locked in that 'I can't reposition myself' position. Too bad the sparring partner didn't throw many hard punches but it was good that the blue headgear guy rolled his sparring partner's right hand. He noticed that the barrage was slowing down as his partner got more and more fatigued and went "I can dodge a punch".

The best people I know always go slow and easy at the bag. Very slow but like with a nice rhythm, its like they are feeling some hip pop, especially the Thai guys, and things are done with textbook execution.When you are fast, you may lose form, and when you use power, you may lose balance. When you take away both, it is about pure techniques.

a lot of people think bringing your hand back to your face is about protection, and it partially is, but its also about power. you will be shocked by how much more sharp, consistent power you generate when the opposite hand is firmly placed on your aligning cheekbone. That being said! many have more success with head movement when hands are held lower, and in mma or a barfight you will have to expect a lot more than punches. that changes where your hands are held to a degree, but it will still generate more power if you have the energy to get the hand up to the cheekbone for your punch, then you can drop it to fend off takedowns or move your head or whatever. remember the playground! you spin faster when you tuck mass in towards the center.
@dedhead93222 жыл бұрын
I started doing 100 perfect strikes of each punch with both hands, Jab, cross, hook, uppercut, and throw 100 perfect strikes of each as a warm up. I threw each punch as hard and quickly as I could, while maintaining perfect form and contact with the bag. Only perfect punches are counted. Soon, I progressed to 500 perfect punches each before adding movement around the bag. Sometimes I will do my weight training until my arms and chest burnout, then I force myself to do bag work while my arms are burnt. I can't do a whole lot, but I thought training while tired could help me with the mental fortitude to fight while exhausted if I have to. Am I doing too much with that? I haven't really trained in maybe 15 or so years, but I wanted to get back in shape.
@HakotaaVR2 жыл бұрын
I'm no professional but I'd say that's really good practice. it follows the "practice perfect form" teachings so that's good. I'd say don't overdo it tho. the human body needs rest and recovery. yes hypertrophy kicks in and that's how you gain, but go further than that and you're just damaging yourself. Make sure you give yourself rest periods/days and get some protein in you.

Small correction, Mr Jeffries @ 03:10 You want to put your lead foot outside their lead foot when you throw lead right hands against the southpaw. But if you want to throw other shots (esp. inside fighting) you sometimes want to step to the INSIDE, ie stepping to throw a left hook. But yes, generally speaking while at distance and throwing lead rights you want to stand outside their lead foot when stepping in.
