Not sure about the exact date/location. A great rendition of "One of Us Must Know" from 1966's "Blonde on Blonde", as ye very well may know.

I had never heard this live version of the song, one of my all time favorites, before - so it was a treat. Unfortunately, to their shame, CBS failed to promote the studio recording of the song when it was released as a single in the 1960's, so it was only a minor chart hit.

Dylan knew from the beginning that he was born as a legend. Realy fantastic

AMAZING; how could he KNOW this?!

I think maybe Bob Dylan just writes songs and people really love them and consider them good but he kind of just shrugs and writes some more songs. Like, he understands that people consider his songs good but since he can't see himself from the outside it's different for him. I think it's just kind of what he does. The recognition is probably nice, but not why he does what he does. He would probably do it anyway.

It does sound like this could easily have been on the budokan album as Simon mentions. Never heard this version before - but have to say it is cool!

It would be nice to hear the original as this version is to fast and takes away from the original and sounds rushed

frodo261 how can you tell what is original version?you simply can not.just because it made it on record?as far as bobby go they all originals

good version obviously from 1978 not sure what show this came from though. I agree it should have been on the budokan album. It would be great if they released a 1978 tour retrospective including all the other great versions of songs (masters of war/tangled up in blue/youre a big girl../something there is about you... etc) which did not feature on the official release,,,but ,i wont be holding my breath !!

Bob Dylan has clearly stated in interviews that the lyrical adaption of Johnny's in the basement mixing up the medicine was a statement about the drug culture at that time..He naturally leaves it to your imagination as to what drugs he was mixing.

If Bob sang these songs the same way, why would anyone buy a ticket vs buying the cd?

Actually I think it's more prosopagnaphantasia. It's a polite way of expressing the Dylan, Sandler, Amy Winehouse and of course Barbara Streisand look Jewish
