⁠you should offer a video series on simple mannerisms. My wife is a elementary school principal and it’s clearly apparent that parents are not teaching their children these life skills. Its our job to teach the next generation at least 1%better than ours. That makes one percent or more our gift to society ❤

As an introvert who went into sales, I appreciate what you are presenting here and will add that introverts and those on the spectrum can develop good ability to listen, which is an important feature of conversation that many forget.

Right on, Ruth. My mother and father owned a real estate firm and two of their best associates were introverts who weren't much for conversation, but they were GREAT listeners and qualifiers and producers! I would venture to say that the ability to listen is one of the most important features of a good salesperson. It's not about convincing a person to buy what he/she doesn't need. It's about LISTENING and discovering the needs of the buyer, and then producing the appropriate product that answers those needs. Notice I said "good" salesperson :)

Lead in lines are memorable. Personal experience. Many years ago I was at a party filled with a certain Industry type people. I was not part of the industry, therefore many found an exit soon after they learned I was an “outsider”, except for one person. After he learned about my job, he said “ Tell me more about that.” He made me feel comfortable and hence after almost 15 years later, I’m talking about that memorable experience. I was stuck with the shyness to approach people for years until you explained in this video that there's no reason to worry about approaching and forgetting (embarrassed) because we practice the simple skill of "repeating their name" as we interact for the first 15 seconds😃. I loved your video!! (Especially your “guest” appearances …..fur babies) I, too, was blessed with a father that taught me communication and importantly listening skills. People would come and talk to my dad for hours, and I would barely hear him say a word. I think he just used some of your leading questions then just sat and listened. So many people just don’t have anyone to listen….I mean REALLY listen. I learned early that it is a skill. Sometimes it’s very hard to stay focused on someone else’s problems or other ramblings. Thank you for the video! I am an introvert with ADHD, and I often struggle in social situations specifically when I there is no obvious goal in the conversation. However, that tip about acknowledging the person who had an idea while still getting the last word on it (and therefore taking ownership) actually made me feel angry, because other people have done this to me 100 times. It doesn’t really seem right, and I wonder whether they were doing it consciously. Part of the reason I get anxiety about conversations is because of these sort of duplicitous, backstabbing tactics- I find it very upsetting. It’s good to be aware that people are doing this though, it’ll help me protect myself going forward. I definitely will try to use the advice you’ve given to serve as a starting point to make connections with others, and I really appreciate that you’ve taken the time to help people by putting this information out there.
