Keep it no higher than the knee, and you will be a master.

@@NeritantanGaming My comment is in regard to REAL fights on the street. Sport or dojo matches matter less. One day you might get lucky enough to see on the street someone get wrecked because of a kick above the knee. Then you will know why, when the risk to reward ratio is never worth it, especially with so many other choices having far less risk...choose wisely.

Watch at 4:20 when Thomas kicks him. Notice the control he uses. This is what it is required to make this stuff work. Once you have done thousands of reps you can go much faster in real time. Using the same control. Controlled aggression. This is how you gain skill without breaking your training equipment (partners). Not many understand this.

I'm 5'7 can kicks still be an effective tool for me? Also is there a way I can utilize Muay Thai kicks in the JKD style?

Why?
@ZEROPHILOSOPHYS
@ZEROPHILOSOPHYS 5 ай бұрын
Bruce Lee was also 5'7 and he is the founder of JKD. Jeet Kune Do is for combat and Muay Thai is sport. I will be training Muay Thai and JKD but JKD is optimal for combat. Just use JKD for self defense. Also Bruce Lee criticized Muay Thai because it is highly telegraphed and has very little broken rythm.

It was in 1975 that his widow Linda Lee made the decision to make the information about JKD available to the public. Bruce died in 1973. The core writings and notes were placed together in a logical fashion. The main editor was Gilbert Johnson, along with Mrs. Lee, and Dan Inosanto helped put the information together into an organized text.
