Hey Tim, been following your videos and picking exercises that suit my body ailments. I figured out a lot of stuff while "poking around in the dark" so to speak. Doctors couldn't tell me what's wrong, but your exercises sure do help. I've been doing them for about 2 years now. Not quite daily but regularly and I can confirm: they help to feel better! I thought my back was never going to heal but you changed that belief and showed be a way to help myself. Thank you so much!

Tim, I love this. Way back when I was lifting weights, Frank Zane was always one of the best in Muscle and Fitness. He has been called the one of the best. I have read that he had the smallest waist of any body builder. One of his specialties was the Vacuum. Anyway, thank you for the explanation. Have a great day.

Very good. Everybody in martial art knows how important the emphasis is on exhaling. So do also Yogis.

the breathing topic has always been very interesting for me. I remember running with my brother. At some point he quickly push more air exhaling, like turning off a candle. He told me doing that would calm and adjust his heartbeat. I tried and it was the same for me. Who knows how many secrets lie within this topic. I'm convinced this plays a major role in yoga, heavy weight lifting, athletic moves in general. Who knows if there is a relationship between the way you breathe and the results, good or bad, you get.

Youre right 💯 You can only be so strong by trying to be strong. When you train with the breath and learn to relax and let things happen, your best strength comes out by itself without trying to be strong

Another wonderful, useful video, Tim! Have you ever tried what Matt Furey calls the Farmer Burns Stomach Flattener?

Ha! I did consider myself a Foley scholar but I can see I’ve missed some things about him! I’ll have to investigate that one!

This is a good one. I offer you a good recovery one.. when you need to catch your breath Inhale, look up, reeeeeeeeach to the sky while stretching straight up on your tippy toes. When you think you're full, inhale and reach even more! Then, suddenly let go, exhale, relax and return to regular standing position in one motion Edit: you can also alternate it with the vacuum back to back. Feels cool

I will try this! Thank you!

Thank you, Tim. Are there any risks one should be aware of?
@OriginalStrengthSystem29 күн бұрын
None that I am aware of. I recommend being curious and not aggressive when trying new things. Also consider that everything has a risk or a cost involved. Walking is generally the best thing for anyone. But once in a while, walking can lead to injuries or accidents, self-inflicted, or external.

I have a question. In a yoga move that Tim Ferris recommends in The 4 Hour Body, you exhale and then suck the stomach muscles in. I find they go in further this way than what you show in this video. What are your thoughts? Also, should I actively contract the pelvic floor as I breathe out?
@OriginalStrengthSystem28 күн бұрын
Maybe I didn’t explain this too well. They both sound like the exact same movements to me. 😅 And no, the pelvic floor should respond reflexively without you consciously contracting it

Hi, Tim. I'm intrigued by this. I'm having a little trouble. Step 1 - lean over and exhale. Step 2 - inhale through the nose, deeply. Is that correct? Then do that a few times, right?
@OriginalStrengthSystem23 күн бұрын
There is no inhale. On step two, You do not inhale. You suck the diaphragm up into your throat. Without inhalation. Just practice and explore. You’ll find it.

@@OriginalStrengthSystem you can complicate it with nauli but I can't do it (in nauli you're supposed to be in a vaccuum; then you learn to make the abs (recti) pop out; then you learn to contract just the right, both, left and so on to create a constnant wave)
@OriginalStrengthSystem28 күн бұрын
@dannymeslier6658 I’ve seen that! I’ve no idea how they do it though. I’ve tried.

@@OriginalStrengthSystem yeah it's tough. apparently you first learn to make just one side of the abs pop out indepedently. this is a form of muscle control and I'm almost at that stage :)
